    Chapter 29: Class Meeting

Gu Yusen left, looking back every few steps.

Chu Zhaoyi continued to work on his unfinished drawing at his seat. Zhang Haoyu didn’t continue the conversation, probably realizing that Chu Zhaoyi was introverted and not wanting to bother him.

Another roommate arrived later, this one more outgoing. He greeted everyone upon entering and even shared the snacks he brought.

    His name was Li Yu.

Chu Zhaoyi, as usual, gave a brief greeting and didn’t want to talk further. He even found Li Yu a bit noisy, and it got even more annoying when he started chatting with Zhang Haoyu.

He simply took out his hearing aid, and the world went silent, allowing him to finish his drawing.

The drawing was a chibi version of a person, sulking in bed and hugging a blanket. He deliberately drew the person small, with a tiny mole on the right corner of their eye, making the act of holding the blanket seem difficult.

    It looked especially adorable.

Chu Zhaoyi finished the last stroke at 3:30 in the afternoon. He glanced at the time and slowly put his hearing aid back in.

Coincidentally, he heard Zhang Haoyu’s voice as soon as he put it on.

“Chu Zhaoyi, want to go together? To the class meeting.”

“Okay,” Chu Zhaoyi stood up, put on his coat, sent a message to Gu Yusen, put his phone in his pocket, and put on a disposable mask.

He didn’t like the attention he got because of his face.

Li Yu stood behind Zhang Haoyu, his expression terrible. He had been trying to chat with people since he came in, but this No. 4 bed occupant only gave a brief introduction and then stopped talking, acting arrogantly.

Later, he tried to strike up a conversation, but Chu Zhaoyi ignored him.

Zhang Haoyu awkwardly kept responding to his topics.

Li Yu’s gaze fell on Zhang Haoyu’s poor clothes, and he rolled his eyes imperceptibly.

    A poor ghost.

Well, since his temper was relatively good, it wouldn’t hurt to say a few words to him.

He just didn’t expect that someone studying art could be so poor.

Thinking about it, he glanced at Chu Zhaoyi and suddenly realized that this person’s appearance was outstanding, but his clothes also looked brandless from head to toe.

Oh my god, could he be living with a bunch of poor ghosts?

Li Yu was annoyed by this thought, but he couldn’t help but feel a subtle sense of superiority.

Zhang Haoyu didn’t want to fawn over him, but considering they would be roommates for the next four years, he didn’t want any conflicts, so he responded to his words occasionally.

Li Yu resented Chu Zhaoyi for ignoring him, and he kept talking to Zhang Haoyu all the way, excluding Chu Zhaoyi from every topic, clearly forming a small group.

Zhang Haoyu, however, felt that in addition to Li Yu’s hostility towards Chu Zhaoyi, he would be interrupted by Li Yu whenever he wanted to talk to Chu Zhaoyi.

Chu Zhaoyi was happy to be left alone. He followed beside them in silence, walking all the way to the classroom mentioned in the notice.

Although they weren’t very late, they weren’t early either. There were already many people in the classroom, about twenty or so, and a senior student was standing on the podium.

As soon as the three of them entered, everyone’s eyes turned to them.

The first person they saw was Li Yu. Li Yu wasn’t bad looking, he was even considered handsome, especially with all the brand names he wore.

“Damn, that outfit must be worth tens of thousands.”

“You’re right, those shoes alone start at five figures.”

“There are quite a few rich people in our class.”

The students whispered among themselves. Most of them came from decent families, but there were only a few particularly wealthy ones, so they were naturally curious when they saw one.

Li Yu was bathed in the envious gazes of the crowd, and the slight displeasure he felt from being ignored by Chu Zhaoyi gradually dissipated. He glanced triumphantly at Chu Zhaoyi behind him, only to find that the latter seemed oblivious to the surrounding noise, just frowning slightly, seemingly not liking the noisy environment.

Li Yu’s good mood was instantly doused with cold water. He pulled Zhang Haoyu and found a seat in the front row. Zhang Haoyu, remembering Gu Yusen’s instructions, quickly reached out to grab Chu Zhaoyi’s arm.

Chu Zhaoyi didn’t like being touched by others and subconsciously avoided Zhang Haoyu’s outstretched hand.

Zhang Haoyu seemed to realize his impoliteness and said apologetically, “Chu Zhaoyi, why don’t you sit with us?”

Chu Zhaoyi nodded lightly and then sat down in the empty seat next to Zhang Haoyu.

“Hmph, why are you paying attention to him? Didn’t you see how he was ignoring you?” Li Yu said to Zhang Haoyu, his face darkening with dissatisfaction.

“It’s okay, we’re all roommates, Chu Zhaoyi is just a bit introverted.” Zhang Haoyu replied with a smile, trying to defuse the awkwardness.

He was really stuck in the middle, not pleasing either side. Call him a Yan Kong or whatever, Chu Zhaoyi’s personality wasn’t very likable, but he subconsciously didn’t dislike him, and even felt a faint urge to talk to him when he saw him spacing out alone.

    Li Yu snorted coldly.

“By the way, where’s our No. 3 bed occupant? I haven’t seen him yet.”

“I don’t know,” Zhang Haoyu shook his head.

“Probably from around here, that’s why he’s late.”

Zhang Haoyu nodded understandingly. He was from out of town and lived far away.

“By the way, if you guys are locals, can you apply to be a day student?”

“It’s annoying, our college is strict, the rule is that everyone has to live on campus, but it’s not difficult to get a day student status if you have connections. I was thinking of experiencing university life, so I didn’t apply for it.” Li Yu didn’t forget to explain that it wasn’t that he couldn’t get day student status, but that he simply wanted to experience it.

“Oh, oh,” Zhang Haoyu nodded. Yes, having power is always advantageous.

Chu Zhaoyi was sitting to their left. He had a hearing aid in his left ear, but he could barely hear anything in his right ear, so he didn’t hear what they were saying.

“Everyone’s here, right? Today’s class meeting is mainly to give everyone a brief introduction to our school, and the main task is to elect the class committee, which will facilitate future work.” The senior student counted the people and realized one person was missing, but since it was time, he didn’t bother and started speaking directly.

He was just here to help organize the new students. Once the class committee was elected, he wouldn’t have to worry about anything.

Chu Zhaoyi twitched his ear and stared blankly at the scenery outside the window.

Zhang Haoyu wasn’t interested in the class committee and subconsciously wanted to ask Chu Zhaoyi about it, but he noticed that the latter’s attention was on the window, so he touched his nose and continued watching the election.

    Li Yu was somewhat interested.

The first thing was to elect the most important position, the class monitor.

Several people went up to speak, making various remarks, which Zhang Haoyu found quite interesting.

“Okay, now we have these five students. Are there any others?”

“If not, we’ll start the anonymous voting. Everyone can write the name of the person they want to vote for on a piece of paper based on the speeches of the five students.”

“Excuse me! I’m a little late, I also want to run for class monitor.” A voice suddenly came from the doorway.

As the words fell, a young man appeared in everyone’s sight. His slightly hurried breathing and slightly flushed cheeks revealed that he had rushed over here. The young man’s hair was slightly disheveled from running, adding a bit of youthful energy and vitality to him.
