PPS Chapter 18
by VolareChapter 18: Officer Liu’s Solemnity
Gu Yusen assigned Chu Zhaoyi a task: to finish the House-Tree-Person drawing that Mason had asked him to draw during the psychological consultation in the morning.
Chu Zhaoyi was quite obedient to Gu Yusen. Although he often got angry and threw tantrums, he would actually follow Gu Yusen’s instructions every time.
So Gu Yusen saw the House-Tree-Person drawing that Chu Zhaoyi had drawn.
He didn’t quite understand it.
But he had always thought that Chu Zhaoyi’s drawings were very beautiful.
Pretty.
Just as beautiful as he was.
So he admired it for a while and took a photo to send to Mason.
Mason hadn’t replied, probably busy with something.
The next day, it was the day to get the hearing aids. Gu Yusen finally managed to get Chu Zhaoyi out of bed with great effort.
Before he could even sigh, he received a call from Officer Liu.
“Mr. Gu, is it convenient for you to come to the police station?”
Gu Yusen thought about the fact that Chu Zhaoyi’s medicine was just vitamins, and his grip on the phone tightened.
“I’m taking Chu Zhaoyi to get his hearing aids today. Can I come to the police station now?” Gu Yusen calculated the time, estimating that it would be just right to go now, chat for a bit, and then go get the hearing aids.
Hey, ever since he took care of this kid, he’s been so busy.
He hadn’t gone out for a drink in ages.
Who told this kid to be so pretty but so broken, needing him to stitch him up everywhere.
“Yes, I’ll be here all day.”
“Do you want to bring Chu Zhaoyi?”
“You can, but… there are some things I need to talk to you about alone. Chu Zhaoyi might not be able to handle it.”
“Okay.” Gu Yusen knew that the police had probably found something. The inexplicably switched medication, including all the coincidences surrounding the deaths of Chu’s father and Chu’s mother.
None of it seemed like a simple accident. That’s why the police thought so too, clinging to the case without letting go, making it clear that there was a problem.
“By the way, how is Chu Zhaoyi’s current psychological state? Didn’t you take him for a check-up yesterday?”
“Very bad. He has a very strong defensive mentality. He (Mason) tried all sorts of methods, but nothing worked.” Gu Yusen had a headache just thinking about it. Mason’s hour-long session yesterday yielded nothing.
Oh no, there was half a drawing.
“Oh, the doctor said that I am a very important person to Chu Zhaoyi.” Gu Yusen added another half-sentence, his tone filled with undisguised smugness.
It wasn’t easy taking care of him with good food and drinks, and gentle words these days.
It was worth it.
Officer Liu didn’t say anything. Was it his imagination? Was this person showing off? What was he so proud of? What was there to boast about to them!
Gu Yusen didn’t realize he was annoying, and happily said a few words before hanging up.
He couldn’t help but smile when he remembered what Mason had said before leaving yesterday.
[His current situation is actually not good, but every time you appear, he clearly changes. When you’re not around, he completely refuses to communicate, and even refuses to look at me. It’s very difficult for me to communicate with him.]
[But when you’re there, he clearly talks a lot more, and not just to you, but he’ll even say a few more words to me.]
[This phenomenon is quite special, not very common, but it has happened before.]
[Perhaps you knew each other before, before Chu Zhaoyi had mental problems, or something you did had a profound impact on him.]
[He feels very safe with you, so he’s willing to say a few more words.]
Under Gu Yusen’s protection, Chu Zhaoyi had the courage to contact the outside world.
Gu Yusen sighed. What exactly could have made Chu Zhaoyi become like this? And what had he done that caused Chu Zhaoyi’s attitude towards him to be completely different from others?
Everywhere he looked there were mysteries.
The little deaf-mute even smiled and said, “Guess.”
Gu Yusen’s eyes fell on Chu Zhaoyi, who was slowly putting on his clothes, trying to delay leaving.
He was furious.
“Chu Zhaoyi!”
