    Chapter 13: Clues

Gu Yusen had initially planned to take the young man to the psychologist, but seeing Chu Zhaoyi’s condition today, he didn’t dare. Staying outside for too long might make him uncomfortable. He decided to go again when picking up the hearing aids in a couple of days.

Gu Yusen mentally gave himself a thumbs up for his scheduling.

While he was driving and brainstorming, Chu Zhaoyi sat in the passenger seat, clutching his roses tightly, looking left and right, clearly treasuring them.

As soon as they got home, Chu Zhaoyi, without waiting for Gu Yusen, pushed open the car door and hurried inside, even jogging a few steps, looking anxious.

Gu Yusen was puzzled, and like a mother hen, he grabbed Chu Zhaoyi’s discarded jacket from the car and entered the house, only to find Chu Zhaoyi’s shoes haphazardly kicked off, one to the east, the other to the west.

It was obvious they had been carelessly taken off and tossed aside.

    Gu Yusen’s head throbbed.

    This little thing.

After cleaning up, hanging the young man’s jacket, and arranging the shoes, he went upstairs with a dark face, intending to settle the score with the little deafie.

As soon as he reached the top of the stairs, he noticed the painting studio door was open. Sure enough, the young man inside was sitting in front of the easel, drawing away with his brush.

    He really loves it.

    Never mind.

Gu Yusen placed the water glass he was holding on the small cabinet next to the young man. When this person starts painting, he loses all sense of time, not even noticing his own movements.

It was as if he hadn’t noticed a living person entering the studio at all.

Gu Yusen entered with a dark face, held his breath, and went out, making sure to close the door behind him before leaving.

He pinched his nose and went to the study to deal with his own matters. His parents were away on a business trip, and some of the Gu family’s affairs were gradually being transferred to him. He was busy too, okay!

Gu Yusen sat in the study, staring at the computer but unable to focus on a single word. Now that he was calm, he could slowly start to think about what exactly had happened today.

Chu Zhaoyi said they had met before. When? How come he had no recollection at all?

Even yesterday, when he contacted the psychologist, he had briefly described Chu Zhaoyi’s situation, including the scene when he first met the young man.

In fact, Chu Zhaoyi presented himself as a completely normal person, just with some strange little quirks. Apart from the sudden episode this afternoon, he was no different from ordinary people.

So, when the psychologist heard his description, he paused and asked,

“Have you and this patient met before?”

Gu Yusen shook his head in confusion. He swore that he really had no memory of Chu Zhaoyi’s face.

The psychologist didn’t say much more, just said he would assess the situation after meeting him.

So… what about Chu Zhaoyi saying they had met?

    When was it?

The first time they met, Chu Zhaoyi directly called him Brother Sanmu. He didn’t suspect anything then, but now it seemed very strange.

And what did that child say this afternoon that caused Chu Zhaoyi to react that way?

He checked the surveillance footage, but the camera was too far away to fully identify what the two had said. He could only see the child accidentally bumping into Chu Zhaoyi’s leg while chasing a ball, and the young man standing up and pushing the child hard.

From the surveillance footage, it seemed like Chu Zhaoyi was more at fault.

But Gu Yusen knew that Chu Zhaoyi wasn’t the kind of young man who would randomly bully others. At most, he would just turn away and refuse to communicate when he was unhappy.

And most of the time, he was immersed in his own world, rarely disturbed by anyone.

    Very strange.

Gu Yusen rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. Suddenly, the phone rang. He looked at the phone, it was Officer Liu’s number.

Because he was currently Chu Zhaoyi’s “family,” and Chu Zhaoyi’s nominal guardian had not yet appeared, regarding his parents’ case, they would contact Gu Yusen.

“Mr. Gu? How is Chu Zhaoyi doing?” Officer Liu’s tone sounded serious.

Gu Yusen tightened his grip on the phone.

“What’s wrong? He’s alright, just had some emotional outbursts this afternoon due to external stimuli.”

“I took two of Chu Zhaoyi’s pills to be tested last time.”

    “They were vitamins.”
