Chapter 103: Ah Yi is a Patient Person

Gu Yusen rarely slept in late, and it just so happened that neither of them had classes that morning.

Gu Yusen’s sleep wasn’t peaceful. He was saying something urgently, but Chu Zhaoyi couldn’t hear him and thought his hearing aid was broken.

So, he simply straddled Gu Yusen and brought his head close to his ear to listen.

When Gu Yusen opened his eyes, all he saw was Chu Zhaoyi’s face, magnified.

This face slowly overlapped with the face of the little beggar in his dream.

He remembered his mother saying that he had suddenly become obsessed with beautiful faces at some point, finding everyone ugly. It turned out he had seen a little beauty when he was very young.

When he was bored, he would always think about it in his head.

Wondering what the little beauty would look like when he grew up.

So much so that when he first saw Chu Zhaoyi, a strange feeling surged in his heart. He had only thought it was admiration for a beautiful person, but it turned out that all of it originated from their childhood acquaintance.

Gu Yusen thought their first meeting was four months ago at the police station.

But in Chu Zhaoyi’s memory, their first meeting was in the mushroom house on a rainy night.

Gu Yusen would always bring Chu Zhaoyi a rose, and later felt that the roses in the garden weren’t beautiful enough, so he planted a whole garden of roses at home.

Twelve-year-old Gu Yusen had planted an entire rose garden for Chu Zhaoyi.

    But never sent even one.

    Later,

Chu Zhaoyi spent six years, step by step, walking up to Gu Yusen.

Gu Yusen thought Chu Zhaoyi was a little beauty he had picked up.

But this was Chu Zhaoyi’s effort over six years, finally earning the chance to stand in front of Gu Yusen.

A wave of indescribable regret surged in Gu Yusen’s heart.

Regret for breaking his promise back then, perhaps Chu Zhaoyi had waited in the mushroom house again and again.

Regret for not remembering the past sooner, for not finding Chu Zhaoyi earlier, resulting in the boy being so broken now.

Regret for not remembering their experiences. Chu Zhaoyi must have been very sad after discovering that Gu Yusen didn’t recognize him, right? He had worked so hard for so long to find the person, only to find that he didn’t remember him at all.

Gu Yusen had thought that he was the one who pieced together the tattered Chu Zhaoyi, raising him into his current healthy state.

But he realized that he might be the source of Chu Zhaoyi’s greatest pain.

Chu Zhaoyi saw Gu Yusen open his eyes and felt a little guilty, wanting to climb down. Usually, Gu Yusen would sternly push his face away, and even say fiercely, “Chu Zhaoyi! What are you doing! Have some self-respect!”

Although Chu Zhaoyi didn’t know where his behavior lacked self-respect,

He still didn’t want to be scolded.

Unhappily, he rolled to the side, trying to return to his own side of the bed.

But as soon as he moved, Chu Zhaoyi was suddenly pulled into Gu Yusen’s arms. Gu Yusen’s hands involuntarily tightened around his waist, with such force that Chu Zhaoyi felt a faint ache.

As if Chu Zhaoyi was a precious treasure that had been lost and found, reluctant, unwilling, and even afraid to let go.

Chu Zhaoyi vaguely sensed Gu Yusen’s sad mood. He didn’t resist Gu Yusen’s rough strength. He hesitated for a moment, then imitated Gu Yusen’s behavior and gently patted his head.

    “What’s wrong, Brother Sanmu?”

He felt Gu Yusen’s warm breath in his ear.

Gu Yusen’s unprecedentedly gentle voice clearly entered his ears through the hearing aid.

    “Little beggar, I’m late.”

Hearing this familiar nickname, Chu Zhaoyi blinked. A feeling of joy instantly surged in his heart. The corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up, his eyes curved into crescents, his eyebrows and eyes full of smiles.

“Not little beggar, it’s Ah Yi.”

Brother Sanmu has a bad memory.

He waited in the mushroom house again and again, his hair growing from shoulder length to his waist little by little.

The boy who would bring him roses never came.

    But luckily,

Ah Yi is a patient person.
