Chapter Index

“Do you really think I’m the kind of person who would do this for someone like him?”

The eyes of the person who met my gaze never wavered even once. It was as if he had anticipated my reaction and still chose to carry out this act.

Lee Jihoon smiled softly at my silence.

“Seon-uk, even the kid next door knows this is crazy.”

    “…….”

“But I said I would do it. Willingly.”

It felt like a declaration of war. As Jihoon scanned me slowly, he took a step back. He checked his watch and added, in a flat tone:

“I need to head to the office for a bit. There’s something I need to hand over. I’ll take care of the packing, so just focus on what you have to do. You can even take a nap if you want. When I get back, let’s grab some late-night snacks. I’m hungry.”

Jihoon had rattled off his destinations as if he were speaking to a housemate, then walked away. It was only after I heard the door close that I turned my head. I looked around the place that I had to face the moment Jihoon entered the house. From the watch he had gifted me to the Bluetooth speaker resting on the drawer beneath the television. Everything I had believed I had discarded had returned to its place.

My trembling gaze finally landed on the display cabinet. I let go of my lips. One, two… The act of counting the souvenirs, which I did out of habit, stopped at the 27th flight souvenir.

    “…What a crazy bastard.”

It was the moment I realized that Jihoon had bought another flight souvenir immediately after I confessed and then left.

I finally understood. Jihoon was sincere.

Until our conclusions aligned, until we somehow reached the end, he would never leave this house.
