Chapter 84: Knowing Everything Like the Back of His Hand

Song Baiyan’s usually calm eyes suddenly sharpened, his lips pressed into a tight line. “What did you say?”

Ye Yunning, who was standing opposite him, was startled by his gaze and inwardly cried out in dismay. But since the words had already been spoken, there was no room for retreat, so she had to bite the bullet and continue, “I… I also heard it.”

“Heard what?” Song Baiyan pressed closer, his voice chillingly cold.

Ye Yunning swallowed hard, finally realizing that she had said the wrong thing.

“Qian… Qian Ru said that Junior Yu had a girl he especially liked back in high school, and that girl is now studying at Qing University. It’s said that she even came to find Junior Yu a couple of weeks ago…”

Song Baiyan’s eyes darkened, but he didn’t entirely believe Ye Yunning’s words. It might be true that such a girl existed, but Yu Zhanrong’s feelings for her were another matter entirely.

When faced with the affections of others, Song Baiyan was usually quick to reject them, but he also left a shred of respect. However, there were some things that still needed to be said.

After a moment of silence, Song Baiyan slowly said, “I’ve said before that I like men, and that’s not going to change. Whether or not Yu Zhanrong is in the picture, I won’t like you. But thank you for your feelings.”

“There’s one more thing,” Song Baiyan’s expression visibly hardened. “Regarding the forum incident last time, I don’t want it to happen again. Whether it’s you or your friends, don’t go looking for trouble with Yu Zhanrong. If you have any problems, come directly to me!”

With that, he turned and left without looking back.

He had only been walking a short distance with Ye Yunning because he happened to be going the same way, and because Ye Yunning said she had something to ask him.

He didn’t expect her to confess her feelings, let alone hear about Yu Zhanrong.

Ye Yunning was right about one thing: it wasn’t certain whether Yu Zhanrong liked men or not. Perhaps his feelings for him were more admiration than anything else, and the filter was probably incredibly thick, which was why he even accepted something as unpleasant as running.

Yu Zhanrong had been hiding, and only emerged after the two had separated and left, his heart filled with hope.

From his observation, it seemed like Song Baiyan had rejected her?

Yu Zhanrong quickly chased after Song Baiyan, calling out, “Senior Brother.”

Hearing the familiar voice, Song Baiyan turned around, and a head of light golden hair instantly buried itself in his chest, causing a dull ache. “Why are you running?”

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to,” Yu Zhanrong apologized. “I’m also going back to the dorm.”

“Mm.” Song Baiyan nodded. “Not participating in any events at the sports meet?”

Yu Zhanrong gave an awkward smile, giving him a look that said: You know my capabilities, don’t you?

Song Baiyan cleared his throat. “It’s getting cold. Is morning running a bit difficult for you?”

Yu Zhanrong’s eyes lit up, but he didn’t dare show it too much. “It’s okay, it’s just too cold.”

“The other day, my family bought a treadmill and some dumbbells, that kind of exercise equipment.”

    Yu Zhanrong: “…”

Why did it have to be exercise? Couldn’t he just lie flat?

“My life is also a life.”

“It won’t take your life, don’t worry.” Song Baiyan patted his head. “How about I make you something delicious?”

“Mmm, mmm, mmm.” Since he couldn’t avoid exercising anyway, he might as well enjoy it. At least there would be something good to eat.

“Senior Brother, about that just now…” Yu Zhanrong pointed behind him. “I saw everything. You rejected her, right?”

Song Baiyan was a little surprised, not expecting him to ask so directly. “Didn’t you see it all?”

“Just from a distance, I couldn’t hear what you were saying. I just felt like it.”

“Yes, I rejected her.” Seeing Yu Zhanrong’s eyes light up, Song Baiyan gently flicked his hair and casually asked, “What about you? Have you had a girlfriend?”

    “Huh?”

“I haven’t. What girlfriend?” I barely have enough energy to like you, where would I find a girlfriend?

Song Baiyan withdrew his hand and slowly straightened his cuffs. “I seemed to see a girl come looking for you before. I thought maybe…” He didn’t finish his sentence, but the meaning was clear.

“A girl came looking for me?” Yu Zhanrong frowned, trying hard to recall when a girl had come looking for him.

A figure flashed quickly through his mind, and suddenly a name appeared. Could he be referring to Qin Yuyan? She was the only one who had come to Hua University to find him recently.

Thinking of this, Yu Zhanrong couldn’t help but feel a jump in his heart. He quickly explained, “No, goodness, Senior Brother, don’t misunderstand! She’s my classmate!”

Hearing Yu Zhanrong’s eager explanation, Song Baiyan asked again, “Did you play together in high school?”

Yu Zhanrong: “Yeah, we were in the same class.”

Song Baiyan looked at him thoughtfully and gave a long “Oh,” “You have a good relationship?”

    Yu Zhanrong: “…”

“It’s really not what you think. She’s a friend, and also my good friend’s future girlfriend.” Yu Zhanrong even began to become incoherent. “It’s Xu Yihang’s brother, you know him, right?”

    “Xu Yihang?”

    OMG!

It seemed like, maybe, he had revealed something again.

Yu Zhanrong stammered, “Uh-huh, his brother is my classmate. I met her through him.”

Song Baiyan wasn’t so easily fooled. He held his shoulders, “You knew I knew Xu Yihang a long time ago? Little Yu knows a lot, huh?”

Why was the road back to the dorm so long? They had been walking for so long and still hadn’t arrived.

Yu Zhanrong smiled sheepishly. “Xu Yixuan mentioned it once or twice. He knows you too.”

Song Baiyan rubbed his shoulder. The kid was so thin, probably weighed down by his many schemes. He was really getting into the act.

“Not telling the truth? Hmm?” As soon as they entered the dormitory building, Song Baiyan pinched the back of his neck, his thumb gently rubbing the side of Yu Zhanrong’s neck. The kid’s shoulders immediately shrank.

“I was wrong, I was wrong,” Yu Zhanrong pleaded repeatedly.

Stop touching him, or he would laugh.

    “Confess honestly, you little rascal.”

“Hahahaha, Senior Brother~” Yu Zhanrong couldn’t help but grab Song Baiyan’s finger. “It’s so ticklish.”

“It’s just that Xu Yixuan has seen you before. He told me you and Xu Yihang are good friends, and that there are many people pursuing you.”

As he spoke, he glanced at Song Baiyan, taking the opportunity to gather information. “Are there many?”

Song Baiyan glanced at their clasped hands. “Aren’t you supposed to know everything about me? How many don’t you know?”

    “…”

He had dug his own grave and jumped into it.

    No happy faces.

He held up two fingers and compared them: “I only know this little bit. Not much, there must be others. Who are they?”

Song Baiyan tapped his forehead. “No one, don’t be so gossipy.”

    “We’re here.”

Yu Zhanrong looked and saw that they had indeed arrived at the third floor.

He still wanted to ask more, but Song Baiyan clearly didn’t want to say much.

    “Then I’ll go back first.”

Song Baiyan nodded, then suddenly remembered something and called him back.

“Are you still going to the bar to sing tonight?”

    “Yes.”

“I’ll pick you up after work. Want to stay at the apartment tonight?”

    “Okay!”
