    Chapter 64: Can’t Handle It

By evening, things had mostly stabilized. Yu Zhanrong no longer had a fever and felt much better, so he was allowed to go home.

Because of this sudden cold, he had already bailed on the hotpot dinner he had promised his roommates. Not wanting to cancel his livestream as well, he started it up as soon as he got back.

To be able to rest earlier, he even started the stream an hour ahead of schedule.

As soon as he went live, the public screen immediately flooded with a dense barrage of comments. Yu Zhanrong looked at the screen and picked some to answer.

[Why are you streaming early? The notification scared me, I didn’t expect it to be real]

“I have a cold these past two days, so I figured I’d start working early so I can clock out early.” His throat felt itchy again, and Yu Zhanrong quickly took a sip of hot water to soothe it.

[Yu Bao, if you’re not feeling well, just rest early, don’t stream. Your voice is hoarse [Heartache]]

Yu Zhanrong smiled, “Is it very manly that I’m hoarse? I already took yesterday off, I was afraid you guys would be waiting today so I came on to chat.”

[Baozi, how did you catch a cold? Take care of yourself]

[Wuwuwu, is my Yu baby’s cold serious? Mama fan is heartbroken]

[No wonder you’re ten times gentler, turns out you don’t have the energy, tsk~ Yu Bao, you should still take care of yourself]

Yu Zhanrong almost laughed in anger. Someone had to provoke him at a time like this?

“I caught a cold from being in the rain a few days ago, but I’m much better now.”

“And even though I have a cold, it doesn’t affect my ability to put people in the little dark room, cough–” Yu Zhanrong coughed twice, “Let’s just chat, don’t attack me, I will fight back.”

The phone on the table started vibrating.

Yu Zhanrong looked at the caller ID, apologized, and went to the living room to answer the phone.

“… Rongrong, your dad said you’re sick, what’s wrong? Tell Mom, you’re not coming home, and Mom is very anxious.”

Yu Zhanrong was shocked. How did his dad know?

Before he could ask, he heard his dad deny it on the phone, “I didn’t say anything, you saw it yourself while scrolling through videos, why are you dragging me into this.”

He heard footsteps on the phone, his dad must have walked away. His mom covered the phone and lowered her voice, “Your dad is just being stubborn, how sick are you?”

“Mom, I’m fine, I’m almost better, I just have a bit of a cough, cough cough…”

“Did you take medicine? Drink some cough syrup, don’t think it’s too disgusting, or stew some pear soup.” Hearing him cough, Zhan Yue immediately became anxious, “Rongrong, should Mom stew some and bring it to your school?”

“No need Mom, I really don’t…” Hearing his mom’s clear sob on the phone, he couldn’t continue.

“What do you mean nothing! My son is sick, what’s wrong with a mom going to see him? Coughing so badly, you must have a fever, right?”

Yu Zhanrong, “The fever is gone, now I just have a cough, nothing else.”

Zhan Yue was heartbroken, “Don’t comfort me, your cough always takes a long time to get better, I’ll stew some pear soup and bring it to you.”

Yu Sheng eavesdropped for a while, and was relieved to hear that the fever was gone. He held the phone and retreated.

After hanging up, Zhan Yue immediately saw Yu Sheng playing a mobile game and was instantly furious, “Your son is sick, and you’re just playing on your phone? What kind of father are you?”

A question mark slowly appeared above Yu Sheng’s head.

    What did he do?

Wasn’t he the one who told her about Rongrong’s illness?

    “You’re coming with me tomorrow.”

Yu Sheng had a headache, “I can’t go right now, if I go…”

“Go if you want! I’ll go myself!” With that, she turned and left.

    Yu Sheng: “…”

    Baffling!

On this side, Yu Zhanrong put down the phone and was still wondering how Old Yu found out he had a cold. Father-son telepathy?

Saying he saw it while scrolling through videos, he didn’t believe it at all. He only streamed tonight, there’s no way a video could be edited that fast.

But he couldn’t be bothered to think too much. If he knows, he knows. He sat back in front of the computer, “Sorry, I just went to answer a phone call, um whose call? … My mom called…”

Before he could finish, the comments section instantly changed its tone, filled with “Good evening, Mother-in-law.”

    Yu Zhanrong: “…”

“You guys are really taking this too far. You can’t just call anyone Mother-in-law, how can I handle this many daughters-in-law?”

[Wow~ Yu’er’s thoughts are so dirty, can you even say that? Hehe…~]

[Help, Yu Bao’er, you’re no longer a pure male college student, who corrupted you?]

“What the heck did I say? Who’s thinking dirty? It’s because you guys keep calling her Mother-in-law that I said that, is there no justice?”

“My mother, you can only call her Auntie, eh. Understand?”

Eh, his cold wasn’t even fully recovered, and he’s getting so angry that his lungs hurt.

Yu Zhanrong persevered until the end of the livestream, completely exhausted, wanting nothing more than to fall asleep and think about nothing.

The next day, Yu Zhanrong wasn’t even awake when his mom called, saying she was bringing over the rock sugar pear soup she had stewed for him.

Yu Zhanrong struggled to get out of bed, moved to the living room, and collapsed onto the sofa, falling asleep again. He was too tired.

About half an hour later, the doorbell rang.

As soon as Zhan Yue entered and put down the things, she immediately reached out to touch Yu Zhanrong’s forehead and face, looking him up and down with concern.

Yu Zhanrong was about to be spun dizzy by his mom, “Mom, I’m already fine.”

“You’ve lost weight, Mom is so worried, you haven’t had breakfast yet, right? Mom brought your favorite food, go wash up.”

She ushered Yu Zhanrong to wash up, and Zhan Yue began to wander around the room. The more she wandered, the tighter her frown became. Such an empty room, how lonely it must be to live alone.

Her son, who grew up pampered and spoiled, was living alone outside, he definitely wasn’t eating or sleeping well. Her heart couldn’t help but ache, and her dissatisfaction with Yu Sheng increased.

Yu Zhanrong came over after washing up, and seeing Zhan Yue’s expression, he immediately understood. He held her shoulders and explained, “Mom, I mostly live at school, so I haven’t prepared too many things here.”

    “Really?”

    “Really.”

“And, I’m not really alone, my Senior Brother lives next door, he often takes care of me–” Before he could finish, he saw his mom’s eyes light up like she had been electrified.

Zhan Yue pointed to the wall closer to 2201 and said, “Is it over there?”

Yu Zhanrong nodded, not understanding why.

Zhan Yue immediately smiled at her son. Yu Zhanrong felt goosebumps rise all over his body at that smile.

“I saw him,” Zhan Yue said softly, “I happened to see that young man leaving when I came upstairs, oh my, he’s very handsome and polite.”

There was no need to be so quiet, the neighbor couldn’t hear.

“Is he really your Senior Brother?”

    “Probably, yes.”

“That’s great, tall, handsome, with a good figure, and looks very healthy.”

    Yu Zhanrong: “…”

Wait, isn’t the focus a little off?
