LGSG Chapter 52
by VolareThe next day, Xia Ran yawned as he headed to the interview location.
Although Teacher Gu’s apartment was high-end and well-managed, it was a bit far from his potential workplace.
Xia Ran also had no intention of buying a car, so he drowsily waited for the bus early in the morning.
Xia Ran was now slightly more accepting of crowded situations.
Wearing headphones, Xia Ran walked with the crowd towards the crosswalk with the green light.
Out of the corner of his eye, he glimpsed a platinum-blonde young man sitting near the bus stop not far away.
Xia Ran subconsciously paused.
As he crossed the intersection with the flow of people, Xia Ran looked back, but the distance was too great. He could only vaguely make out a tall, slender figure dressed in a modern suit.
Xia Ran thought to himself that it definitely couldn’t be Mr. Xie.
Suppressing his feelings of disappointment, Xia Ran entered the company.
Xia Ran happened to have prepared for all the questions the interviewer asked, so he answered fluently.
After the interview, the interviewer made a phone call and immediately notified Xia Ran that he had successfully obtained the internship opportunity.
This also meant that Xia Ran didn’t have to go to his second interview in the afternoon.
As Xia Ran walked out of the company, he received a call from Gu Zhuo.
Gu Zhuo said, “Where are you? I’ll drive to pick you up.”
Xia Ran: “Teacher Gu, aren’t you at work?”
Gu Zhuo: “Oh, it’s a long story. I took a leave of absence. Send me the address, and I’ll tell you in person.”
Nowadays, smart cars are divided into manual and automatic driving modes.
But Gu Zhuo still quite liked driving himself.
He quickly arrived at the location Xia Ran sent him.
Xia Ran sat in the passenger seat and asked, “What happened?”
Gu Zhuo: “A strange thing!”
He took out his phone, opened the local police’s newly released announcement, and threw it to Xia Ran.
Since he couldn’t park there for long, Gu Zhuo started the car and drove towards Xia Ran’s apartment while saying, “That Shen Guanghao I told you about yesterday, he was found dead outside your complex by the police. At first, they thought it was alcohol poisoning, but after the autopsy, they found that this guy had been brain dead for several years.”
Xia Ran was stunned: “What do you mean?”
Gu Zhuo: “It means that he was clearly brain dead due to a sudden genetic disease in the third year of junior high school, but he lived like a zombie until now, and no one noticed. What’s even stranger is that I checked, and Shen Guanghao doesn’t have any property there. So why was he wandering around the entrance of the complex before he died? He must have been looking for you!”
Ever since Gu Zhuo found out about this, he hadn’t been able to concentrate on work.
He quickly negotiated with other teachers to reschedule his classes and came out to notify Xia Ran, telling him to be mentally prepared.
“The police have probably already investigated you,” Gu Zhuo said. “But it’s true that we’ve never seen Shen Guanghao. Anyway, I heard that it’s been taken over by a special department now.”
Before this, Gu Zhuo was a firm non-believer in ghosts and gods.
But even with how advanced medicine is now, they still can’t find an explanation for why Shen Guanghao could have lived until now on the premise of being brain dead.
Gu Zhuo said, “In short, it’s not a big deal. But if you’re going to work these next few days, let me be responsible for picking you up and dropping you off. It’s no trouble.”
Xia Ran felt a bit of a headache for no reason.
It seemed that ever since he played “Six-Sided Dice,” he always felt like he knew or saw something in the game. But Xia Ran couldn’t remember. Yet, his first intuition was that it was related to this game.
Xia Ran also felt it was mysterious.
This time, he didn’t refuse Gu Zhuo again.
It was better to have two people together than one alone.
Gu Zhuo said, “It’s also unlucky that he died at my doorstep, it’s even affecting the value of the building. You stay here for another two days, this place isn’t convenient for commuting anyway. I’ll clean up another apartment for you, the rent will stay the same.”
Xia Ran thanked Gu Zhuo.
After Gu Zhuo dropped Xia Ran off at his doorstep, he drove back to school.
He had only rescheduled half a day of classes and still had to work overtime in the afternoon.
Xia Ran’s first feeling upon returning home was that something was wrong.
The windows were closed when he left, but now they were slightly open.
Only he and Gu Zhuo had keys.
Gu Zhuo was too busy with work, so it definitely wasn’t him.
Xia Ran had a good memory, and he felt that he wouldn’t forget something so important.
Adding the bizarre experience of Shen Guanghao’s death that he had just heard from Gu Zhuo, Xia Ran’s heart thumped.
He picked up the fruit knife on the coffee table and tiptoed towards the bedroom.
The master bedroom door was closed.
Xia Ran took a deep breath first.
Could it be a thief?
However, Xia Ran didn’t like to keep valuable things in the bedroom.
He usually kept them in a safe deposit box at the bank.
Besides game cartridges and anime merchandise, the thief probably wouldn’t be able to steal anything.
But if it was an illegal break-in, could it be that Teacher Gu’s security system had broken down?
Lost in thought, Xia Ran opened the door and turned on the light.
Someone was sitting on the bed.
Xia Ran: “…”
Xia Ran’s pupils trembled.
The fruit knife in his hand fell to the ground.
Someone was sitting on the bed.
And it was someone very familiar.
Hair that was unnaturally white.
A pale face, a dark Tang suit, and a familiar smile.
“Ranran,” he said, “don’t you remember me?”
Xia Ran: “…”
Xia Ran felt a wave of magic.
He wondered if he wasn’t awake.
Or, had he never left the game at all?
Xia Ran subconsciously wanted to run.
Because the real world was his home field, and the snail’s retreat had some sense of security.
But before he could take a few steps, several tentacles emerged from somewhere and wrapped around Xia Ran’s waist.
Lifting the black-haired young man in front of Xie He.
Xia Ran: “…”
Xia Ran said dryly, “M… Mr. Xie?”
“Yes, Ranran,” Xie He hugged him. “Why did you run when you saw me?”
Xia Ran: “…”
Xia Ran felt that there was no way to answer this question.
Before leaving the game, Xie He had roughly guessed what was happening.
Now, he didn’t plan to indulge Xia Ran and let him retreat again.
“Take care of me, cherish me, be good to me,” Xie He said slowly. “Ranran, you didn’t really think I was just an NPC in the game, did you?”
Xia Ran: “…”
Damn it.
He really thought so!
But now the situation was obviously not right.
Not to mention how the game NPC came to reality.
Just those tentacles that appeared out of nowhere had already proven that Xie He and the Six-Sided Dice were not simple.
Xie He said, “Ranran, what’s your answer?”
Xia Ran was stunned: “What answer?”
“We’ve already kissed,” Xie He said. “Aren’t you going to take responsibility for me?”
Xia Ran: “I…”
This easy blame-shifting was definitely Mr. Xie himself.
The black-haired young man blushed.
“I… I will take responsibility for Mr. Xie!”
Xia Ran was actually more concerned about another question right now.
“Mr. Xie,” he asked, “how did you get out?”
Upon seeing Xie He, Xia Ran faintly remembered the memories erased by the Six-Sided Dice.
He remembered that Mr. Xie had sent him out.
Did Mr. Xie leave the game in the same way?
Was the Six-Sided Dice really a survival game?
What about the other players and Xie Qiao?
Xie He said, “These can be discussed later.”
He buried his head in Xia Ran’s neck, his tone aggrieved.
“Ranran, I suffered a lot to see you.”
Returning to reality and escaping the restraints of the Six-Sided Dice, Xie He finally had a bit of warmth. But compared to Xia Ran, he was still a bit cold.
Xie He said, “I’m waiting for you to say you love me.”
Xia Ran thought, he wasn’t sure if it was love at first. It was because he didn’t trust himself. He didn’t think that love was as shallow as a sudden heartbeat.
But clearly, after leaving Mr. Xie, he couldn’t eat or sleep, and became obsessed.
Xia Ran didn’t want to live in a world without Mr. Xie.
They were both strange. Just with different experiences.
Living in the mortal world, lonely souls huddled together for warmth.
Xia Ran straightened his expression.
He said a little shyly, “Mr. Xie, I think I should be in love with you.”
“I’m sorry…”
The answer was a little too late.
Xia Ran hadn’t faced his feelings.
Past shadows made him want to retreat into his shell even when he was shocked.
But that wouldn’t work.
Xia Ran had a premonition that if he gave a bad answer,
Xie He would leave mercilessly.
Xie He needed love, but didn’t want to crave and beg for love.
He needed to be in an equal and normal relationship with Xia Ran.
Xie He smiled: “Then congratulations Ranran, you successfully escaped from the love game.”
Now that Xia Ran thought about it, he had regarded the Six-Sided Dice as a blunder from the beginning. He was also a little scared.
Fortunately, the process was all wrong, but the answer was right.
Xia Ran said, “Is there a reward?”
He originally wanted to ask about the rules and rewards of the Six-Sided Dice game system.
Unexpectedly, Xie He said: “I’ll reward you with a dungeon BOSS.”
Xia Ran: “…”
Once again shocked by Mr. Xie’s identity.
Xia Ran trembled: “Mr. Xie, what were you thinking when I put long johns on you back then…?”
He wouldn’t have almost played away his own life, would he!
“Didn’t think anything.” Xie He said, “I knew you didn’t have bad intentions.”
Xia Ran: “…!”
An ominous guess in his heart seemed to be confirmed.
Xia Ran had felt that Xie He seemed very powerful before.
He could guess what he was thinking.
But Xia Ran had only regarded Xie He as an ordinary NPC at the time.
But if Xie He was an Infinite Flow dungeon BOSS…
Xie He said, “Yes, I can read minds.”
Xia Ran: “…”
Xia Ran’s eyes went dark.
Xia Ran said weakly: “Then from the beginning…”
Xie He: “‘Ahhh, so handsome, I declare he’s my only bias from now on.'”
Xia Ran: “How is this different from running naked?”
The black-haired young man pressed his face, completely red, onto Xie He’s mouth.
“D-don’t say it anymore,” Xia Ran said.
Xie He curved his eyebrows and kissed Xia Ran’s palm.
Xia Ran: “!”
Xia Ran suddenly retracted his hand.
“Mr. Xie,” he accused, “you’re being a pervert!”
Xie He didn’t care: “How can a boyfriend’s actions be called being a pervert?”
Xia Ran averted his gaze: “Does this mean we’re dating now?”
It felt so hasty.
But it seemed true, the confession had been made, the kiss had been given.
But the thought of Mr. Xie becoming his boyfriend.
Made it feel so unreal!
Wouldn’t this really be a daydream?
Xia Ran was worried.
“It’s not a dream,” Xie He said. “Ranran, I heard your heart’s voice.”
Xia Ran: “I didn’t think…”
“You did.” Xie He said, “You were thinking, you can’t leave Mr. Xie for the rest of your life.”
“So, Ranran, we will be together forever.”
