    Chapter 174: Happy New Year

Snow fell intermittently throughout the night, the rustling sound lasting all night, and the accumulated snow became thicker and thicker.

The next morning, a few rays of long-lost sunlight poured out through the gaps in the layers of floating clouds, reflecting the snow surface brightly and dazzlingly.

“Good morning, everyone! Happy New Year!”

    “Good morning, Happy New Year!”

    “Happy New Year!”

The sunlight shone on their bodies, although it didn’t bring much heat, it warmed people’s hearts. The few people who got up early greeted each other cheerfully, wishing each other a happy new year.

Gu Tangyue was busy making breakfast, while Gu Tangxi and Xu Yuzhe were actively decorating the house and courtyard with lanterns and streamers.

White Tiger Cub frolicked around Gu Tangxi’s feet, and Gu Tangxi almost tripped over it several times. She chuckled and scolded it a few times to stay away and not interfere with her work, but White Tiger Cub ignored her and shook its head, finding everything Gu Tangxi did new and wanting to get closer.

Gu Tangxi couldn’t stand it anymore; it was too much of a hindrance. Glancing at the empty space on both sides of the gate, she thought of the stone lions placed at the entrance and had an idea. She crouched down to steady White Tiger Cub’s movements, her eyes rolling, and she coaxed it slyly, “White Tiger Cub, do you want to add some color to our New Year decorations?”

White Tiger Cub tilted its big head and rubbed against Gu Tangxi’s knee in a silly manner, as if very interested.

Gu Tangxi’s eyes lit up, and she pointed to the left side of the door frame, striking while the iron was hot, “See over there?”

White Tiger Cub turned its head to look in the direction she was pointing, then looked back at Gu Tangxi, confused and nodding: I see it, so what?

Gu Tangxi understood its expression and coaxed, “Don’t you think it looks empty there, like it’s missing something?”

White Tiger Cub turned its head again and stared at that spot for a few seconds, then looked at Gu Tangxi with eyes full of curiosity: Missing what? And what can I do?

Gu Tangxi stood up and said, “Come, come, come here, squat here. Don’t you know how to grow bigger? Come on, transform.”

Gu Tangxi was like a kidnapper luring a child, and White Tiger Cub, with a blank face, did as it was told.

Gu Tangxi walked further away and compared the sizes seriously, directing, “Get bigger, …bigger, even… bigger! Hey, hey, hey… stop, stop, stop, just like that, shrink back a little, stop, yes, just like that, the size is just right, you just stay there and don’t move, don’t move, it looks great.”

White Tiger Cub: “……!” Although… but… take a look for yourself, is this appropriate?

White Tiger Cub had a faint feeling that it had been tricked, but it still obediently stood there, head held high and chest out, acting as a little guardian.

With the mischievous White Tiger Cub under control, Gu Tangxi returned to her post with light and triumphant steps, humming a festive tune as she leisurely began to sort out the couplets.

Xu Yuzhe, who was diligently writing couplets on the side, forced to hear Gu Tangxi’s evil deeds, joked, “Bullying such a young child, aren’t you afraid it’ll go tell its owner later?”

Gu Tangxi said cheerfully, “It’s okay, I’ll trick Luo Shuyou together when he comes.”

“Look at how lively and energetic it is, it already snatched two lanterns and broke them while we were hanging them up, but luckily we have enough.

If we let it come over and cause trouble again now, the ink will definitely get everywhere, we have plenty of writing materials, but it’s a pity that your hard work will be ruined.”

Gu Tangxi picked up a couplet and examined it for a moment, praising, “As expected of a scholar, this calligraphy is really pleasing to the eye.”

Xu Yuzhe smiled and didn’t say anything, accepting the praise.

Gu Tangxi glanced at Xu Yuzhe’s calligraphy, then glanced at her own “masterpieces” that she had tried her hand at, fully realizing what it meant that there was no harm without comparison. She turned her head away in disgust, not wanting to look at them anymore. They were too ugly to look at. It didn’t seem so bad when she looked at them alone, but with the comparison… tsk tsk tsk!

Gu Tangxi decided to destroy the evidence, determined not to let anyone other than herself and Xu Yuzhe know that these were her show-off works.

Xu Yuzhe finished writing all the couplets and stopped writing. After waiting for the ink to dry, just as they were about to take them to paste them up, Gu Tangyue’s voice came from the house, “Put down what you’re doing, it’s time to eat.”

Gu Tangxi turned her head and saw a flash of white, White Tiger Cub was the first to rush into the house. Gu Tangxi quickly chased after it, shouting, “White Tiger Cub, slow down, slow down, shrink a little, shrink a little.” If it charged around the house like that, there wouldn’t be any breakfast left to eat.

Inside the house, White Tiger Cub had already returned to its small size and was sitting on its own small blanket, munching on the food that Gu Tangyue had specially portioned out for it.

Gu Tangxi sat down and asked, “Aren’t those two coming down yet?”

Gu Tangyue was busy serving rice and said, “Didn’t you say that the young couple hadn’t seen each other for a long time and needed some privacy?”

Gu Tangxi choked, paused for a moment, and said, “They can’t even skip breakfast, right?”

Gu Tangyue: “I called them, they’ll be down soon.”

Gu Tangxi thought of another question: “Where did you get the water for cooking? You didn’t melt snow for us to eat, did you?”

Gu Tangyue rolled her eyes and said, “If this meal was just for you, I would fulfill your wish, but sorry, none of the rest of us have that hobby. You’ll have to make do with us. If you want to eat snow, go shovel a bowl yourself.”

While Gu Tangyue was talking, Gu Tangxi had already noticed the small water tank in the inconspicuous corner, the clear water level sinking several feet. She thought to herself, people in love are so attentive, they had prepared this in advance, they planned this, no wonder they didn’t get up until late in the morning.

After the meal, Luo Shuyou insisted on washing the dishes, saying that he couldn’t just eat and drink for free without doing anything. Gu Tangyue couldn’t dissuade him and let him do as he pleased.

Unexpectedly, after she went out to paste couplets with Gu Tangxi and the others, Luo Shuyou quickly caught up, bouncing along with White Tiger Cub. Gu Tangyue was surprised and asked, “So fast?”

Luo Shuyou smiled slyly, “Hehe, someone else did it for me.” When Luo Shuyou asked to help, he never intended to do it himself. Not to mention washing dishes, Xie YunChuan never even let him help carry the dishes on weekdays.

Gu Tangyue smiled knowingly, teasing, “Ew~! This is the sour smell of love, it’s choking me, it’s different when someone loves you.” It didn’t matter how much work someone did, what mattered was that Xie YunChuan’s love for Luo Shuyou was evident in every aspect, no matter how small.

Gu Tangyue deeply believed that when it came to finding a boyfriend, she had to learn from Luo Shuyou. Not to mention family background and appearance, his character was also top-notch.

Gu Tangyue silently planned that if she ever met someone she liked in the future, she would definitely ask Luo Shuyou to take a look for her. She didn’t expect the appearance and strength to be half as good as Xie YunChuan, but at least the thoughtfulness and doting on his partner had to be matched.
