TSIAGBICATMWI Chapter 20
by VolareChapter 20: Coma
After washing the clothes, Xie YunChuan went to the bedroom again to wake Luo Shuyou up. Although he knew his body was special now, he couldn’t just sleep all day without eating.
In the living room, Luo Shuyou, who had been forcibly pulled up by Xie YunChuan, leaned listlessly in his arms, unwilling to get down.
He took the bread Xie YunChuan handed him. The packaging had already been opened; Xie YunChuan was still taking care of him in such meticulous detail.
He brought it to his mouth, about to eat, but smelled a strange odor and hesitated.
That momentary pause was still noticed by Xie YunChuan, who was constantly paying attention to him.
“What’s wrong, Shuyou? Don’t you want to eat bread? Didn’t you used to love those little breads the most?”
After Xie YunChuan expressed his doubt, he then consoled him, “Be good, baby. Can you endure it for now? When we get out of here, your husband will find you something delicious.”
“No, I like it.” Luo Shuyou shook his head, quickly took a big bite, and tried his best to suppress the discomfort in his chest, eating the entire bread clean, not letting Xie YunChuan notice anything unusual about him.
He knew that even in these times, Xie YunChuan wouldn’t let him eat spoiled things. He would only take the moldy bread away and then fill his own stomach with it in a place where Luo Shuyou couldn’t see.
Unfortunately, Luo Shuyou overestimated his weak body. In this end of the world, where everyone was struggling to survive and was starving and emaciated, he was still being pampered by Xie YunChuan. More than three months into the apocalypse, this body was still as delicate as it had been at the beginning, with no improvement whatsoever.
He didn’t know what was going on with his healing power these past two days. It seemed to have weakened and wasn’t working very well.
What hadn’t improved along with it was its owner. It was just a stomachache, but even though Luo Shuyou tried his best to pretend nothing was wrong, Xie YunChuan still noticed.
And Luo Shuyou was equally hopeless. Once he was found out, he stopped pretending and, as always, lay in Xie YunChuan’s arms, whimpering and complaining.
Xie YunChuan rubbed his stomach with concern. “How did you suddenly get a stomachache?”
Luo Shuyou didn’t dare say it was because he had eaten expired bread. Bread, even spoiled bread, was a good thing that was hard to find even with a lantern in the end of the world, a scarce resource that others would fight tooth and nail for.
Now, they had very little left to eat.
“I don’t know~, maybe it just wanted to hurt. It’s okay, just hold me.” Luo Shuyou nestled weakly in Xie YunChuan’s arms, counting down the time, hoping the pain would pass as soon as possible.
Lying there, he fell asleep again without realizing it.
Xie YunChuan frowned with worry. How could he be sleeping again? Hasn’t he had enough sleep after all this time? Is he really sick?
Maybe sleeping will make him feel better. He didn’t wake him up again. Xie YunChuan carried him back to the bedroom to continue sleeping.
Lu Yunzhou was also holding a piece of bread, devouring it. He had gotten used to Xie YunChuan’s doting on Luo Shuyou. Anyway, he couldn’t be reasoned with, so he just pretended not to see it.
After Xie YunChuan came out of the room, Lu Yunzhou held up the bread in his hand and said, “Brother Chuan, you’re not eating any of this bread?”
“No need. Shuyou likes small breads the most. Although this isn’t as good, I’ll leave it for him. We can’t find anything better now.”
“It’s not that I’m saying anything, Little Chuan, but no wonder those women and men all want to get close to you. Just the way you treat your boyfriend well, who wouldn’t be envious, jealous, and hateful?”
“How do you know who’s trying to get close to me?”
“Who in Muyun City doesn’t know Xie YunChuan? A golden bachelor, a diamond bachelor.”
“I’m not single.”
“I know, but you haven’t made it public, right? Other people don’t know.”
Then, he added cheekily, “Hehe, I don’t have anyone to take care of, so I can only enjoy being alone.”
As he spoke, he nimbly took another bite. “Hmm~, don’t even mention it. Eating vegetable leaves and gnawing on tree bark every day, suddenly getting a bite of this is so good!”
“Is it that exaggerated? It’s not like you were really gnawing on tree bark.” Xie YunChuan simply couldn’t bear to look at his exaggerated expression.
“If not, it’s about the same.”
“Sigh, seriously, do you want to have a bite? I won’t touch your little boyfriend’s rations. Here!” As he said that, he shoved the remaining half of the bread in front of Xie YunChuan.
Xie YunChuan pushed his hand away. “Get out of here.”
He stood up and said, “You eat slowly. I’m going to pack.”
“Okay.”
Then, he kindly added, “But if you’re going to save it for your little boyfriend, you have to do it quickly. It already has a moldy smell. In another two days, it’ll be hard to swallow.”
Xie YunChuan paused, turned around, and snatched the bread from Lu Yunzhou’s hand.
Lu Yunzhou was startled. “Hey! What are you doing? Didn’t you say you weren’t going to eat it?”
Xie YunChuan indeed didn’t eat it. He was looking at the production date and expiration date. “It’s expired?”
He brought it closer to his nose and sniffed. “It’s moldy?”
Lu Yunzhou rolled his eyes and snatched it back. “Nonsense, it expired a long time ago, okay? Does your bread have a shelf life of three or four months?”
He brought it to his nose and sniffed. “It’s hard to smell, a little bit of mold, it’s fine.”
He continued to devour it.
“Damn it!”
Xie YunChuan left those words and walked straight towards the bedroom.
Lu Yunzhou was speechless. Wasn’t he just carried out, fed, and carried back? Why is he going back in again?
He couldn’t understand. This wasn’t taking care of a partner, it was more meticulous than raising a son.
Xie YunChuan came to the bedside to check on Luo Shuyou’s condition. “Shuyou, does your stomach still hurt? Why didn’t you tell me the bread was moldy? Don’t you know your own body? How can you eat moldy things?”
“Shuyou… Shuyou…?”
He couldn’t wake him up again. What was going on?
Xie YunChuan was helpless with his current situation. He didn’t seem to have a normal illness, so it could only be because of the virus in his body.
No matter how anxious Xie YunChuan was, there was nothing he could do but wait and see.
In the middle of the night, Luo Shuyou suddenly opened his eyes. In the darkness, his invisible pupils turned blood red.
Xie YunChuan was sound asleep beside him without any suspicion. Luo Shuyou’s slender fingers gently stroked his face, his sharp nails grazing his Adam’s apple, sliding over his collarbone.
He narrowed his eyes and murmured, “You really have a big heart, my love.”
He got out of bed and came to the window, looking out at the city through the glass, feeling the complex and chaotic energy surging within the city.
It’s coming—the real end of the world!
After a long time, he turned around, returned to the bed, lay down, and closed his eyes.
Before falling asleep again, he thought: My love, you will protect me, right? Don’t disappoint me!
