TSIAGBICATMWI Chapter 4
by VolareLuo Shuyou didn’t dwell too much on how long Xie YunChuan had been awake. Soothed by Xie YunChuan’s gentle coaxing, he snuggled into his warm embrace and fell asleep again.
This sleep lasted until broad daylight. When he woke up, he saw Xie YunChuan holding him tightly, fast asleep. Even though Luo Shuyou was wide awake, he couldn’t bear to move and wake him, so he continued to lie against his chest, pretending to sleep.
Xie YunChuan’s sleep was already restless, and even the slightest movement woke him. The hand that was on Luo Shuyou’s waist slowly moved up, affectionately stroking Luo Shuyou’s head as he said:
“Did my good boy get enough sleep?”
Luo Shuyou looked at him, his eyes still closed, and knew he hadn’t slept well. Wanting him to sleep longer, he shook his head in denial and snuggled further into his embrace.
“Mmm~~, not enough sleep, want to sleep more. Don’t talk and disturb me.”
Then he lay in his arms, not moving. His originally awake mind became increasingly hazy as he tried to sleep more.
In the end, he didn’t know if Xie YunChuan got more sleep, but he definitely did.
When he woke up again, Xie YunChuan was no longer beside him.
“Ugh–! Sleeping too much gives me a headache.”
Luo Shuyou rubbed his dizzy head and walked towards the living room, feeling lightheaded.
Opening the bedroom door, a gust of cold wind rushed in, giving him a shiver and instantly clearing his muddled head.
“What’s going on? Wasn’t it a hot, sunny day yesterday? Why does it feel like winter is coming today? Is the weather this unreasonable now?”
Xie YunChuan had already changed into thicker loungewear, so the air conditioning in the living room wasn’t on as high. He was frowning as he scrolled through the news on his phone. Hearing this, he looked up and replied:
“There’s no reasoning with the weather. You should go back and change into something thicker before coming out.”
“Oh!”
The more Xie YunChuan scrolled through the news, the more alarmed he became. It seemed that all his bad premonitions were developing in an even worse direction.
“The end of the world, is it really coming?”
“Hmm? What end of the world? What are you muttering about while looking out the window?”
Luo Shuyou, having changed his clothes, came out and found Xie YunChuan staring blankly outside, looking heavy-hearted as he said something.
“It’s nothing.”
Xie YunChuan put down his phone and pulled Luo Shuyou, who was walking towards him, into his arms.
“Didn’t baby have a comicMànhuà gǎo to finish? Your phone is confiscated today. After eating, go and draw obediently, okay?”
“Ah, so that’s where my phone went! You took it! You won’t even let me glance at it, is it really necessary?”
As he spoke, he turned his head and saw the withered green plants by the window. He asked strangely:
“Xie YunChuan, don’t you think that potted plant is a bit strange? I thought it was green yesterday, how did it turn completely yellow overnight?”
“You’re mistaken. It clearly started to wither yesterday. That’s just how this kind of plant is.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
Luo Shuyou’s eyes had only recently undergone surgery and his vision was still blurry at a distance. Otherwise, he would have noticed that it wasn’t just the green plants at home; it was difficult to find a single green leaf outside now.
Despite his complaints, Luo Shuyou obediently went to draw after the meal, and truly didn’t touch his phone at all.
Xie YunChuan often did this before because his eyes had just been operated on and were still recovering, especially needing to avoid radiation.
To prevent him from using his phone, Xie YunChuan often found all sorts of reasons to confiscate it. He was used to it and didn’t feel anything was amiss.
Therefore, Luo Shuyou was completely unaware of the widespread wailing online and the various bloody videos.
He simply picked up his drawing pen, spaced out, and went to Xie YunChuan to act cute and flirt a little. And just like that, the day passed.
Sweeping through the chilling winds was an unstoppable viral outbreak, spreading like wildfire. In a day and a night, everything had fallen into chaos.
The villa district where Xie YunChuan and Luo Shuyou lived was prime real estate; everyone here was rich and powerful. In just a few short days, Xie YunChuan had noticed that several groups of people had been picked up and taken away.
It seemed that those who could leave had already left.
It seemed Mu Yun City was the center of the storm, the origin of this disaster.
Xie YunChuan had considered leaving, but Luo Shuyou’s eyes were still in recovery. Traveling a long distance in this situation was unwise.
Not to mention the man-eating monsters, even a few blasts of this chilling wind could cause his eyes to become infected and permanently blind.
He absolutely couldn’t let that happen. Fortunately, the supplies he had hoarded were enough for him and Luo Shuyou to survive for a long time. He would take it one step at a time.
While he was pondering, the phone rang. It was his long-lost mother.
“Hello.”
“YunChuan, I don’t have time to explain to you. You just need to know that this matter is very serious. You must evacuate that city as soon as possible.”
“The people I sent to pick you up should arrive in the next few days. Pay attention and leave with them immediately. They will be responsible for safely getting you to Li City.”
“What about you?”
“Are you in Li City?”
“I’m in a safe place, you don’t need to worry about me.”
“Someone will meet you when you get there.”
“Okay.”
Xie YunChuan didn’t ask any more questions, and Xie Mother didn’t explain further. It was like a rendezvous between secret agents, without a single superfluous word. It was always like this.
Of course, there weren’t many times like this, either.
Putting down the phone, Xie YunChuan walked out of the study and came to the drawing room, seeing Luo Shuyou sitting on the floor, spacing out again.
Xie YunChuan shook his head with amusement and walked over to pick him up. “Why didn’t you come find your husband when you were bored, hmm~?”
“I don’t want to talk to you.” Luo Shuyou pouted, sulking.
He then said softly, “You haven’t let me touch my phone for days. My eyes are almost healed! I’ve never seen you so strict before.”
“Then can you play with it tonight?”
“Hmph~! You better keep your word.”
“When have I ever lied to you?”
“It’s just… Luo Shuyou, some bad things have been happening outside recently. When you get your phone, be prepared mentally before going online.”
“Remember, don’t be afraid or panic. Continue to take care of your health, and I’ll take care of everything, okay?”
Luo Shuyou changed his spoiled and coquettish demeanor, looked at Xie YunChuan seriously, and said solemnly:
“Xie YunChuan, I’m not a child. I’m happy if you want to treat me like one, but you have to remember that I’m not a naive child who can’t handle anything.”
“The commotion outside these past few days has been considerable, and my ears aren’t just for decoration. How could I really be as clueless as a child?”
Xie YunChuan said heavily, “I know, I know everything. I just want you to live happily every day, without worries.”
“Even if that’s no longer possible, I still want you to be happy for one more day, to face this cruel world one day later. Every extra day is a blessing.”
Xie YunChuan tightened his arms around Luo Shuyou, his face showing a look of unbearable pain.
These past few days, he had seen too many unbelievable and horrifying scenes, the ones that were readily available online, the ones he saw through the window on the streets of the neighborhood, the ones happening just a short distance away…
