Chapter 124: Cobalt Blue plus Titanium White can mix the color closest to dawn

Gu Yusen lowered his eyes, looking at the face of the person in his arms, tilted upwards. His Adam’s apple bobbed gently.

Chu Zhaoyi’s fingertip was still pressed against his cheek, like a feather carrying an electric current, stirring his insides until they felt feverish.

He suddenly realized that the trap he had painstakingly designed had already been seen through for the most part by this ignorant little beast.

“What does A-Yi think?” He grasped Chu Zhaoyi’s wrist, pressing the slightly cool palm against his chest. The heartbeat beneath the white shirt made his palm tingle.

“Listen, every time you come close, this place becomes uncontrollable.”

Chu Zhaoyi’s eyelashes trembled. His fingers could clearly feel the rapid throbbing beneath the fabric, like a butterfly trapped in a glass jar, frantically flapping its wings.

This reminded him of countless times when Gu Yusen had wrapped his arms around him from behind, the scalding breath he felt on the back of his neck.

He tilted his head. Moonlight leaked in from the French windows, cascading down his collarbone like a stream of silver: “But I don’t know… I just thought you didn’t like me, didn’t want me to be your little brother, and wanted to push me away.”

During this time, he had an undeniable grievance in his heart.

    He was usually fearless.

His only fear was that Gu Yusen would dislike him.

    Even without knowing why.

Gu Yusen chuckled softly, his thumb rubbing against the teenager’s pale lips. He had done this action countless times, but this time it carried a dangerous implication: “Because I was waiting for A-Yi to discover it himself.”

“Just like you told me that cobalt blue plus titanium white can mix the color closest to dawn.”

His breath swept across Chu Zhaoyi’s earlobe, watching with satisfaction as that patch of skin finally turned pink, instead of its usual indifference.

He became even more certain of one thing: Chu Zhaoyi should also have similar feelings for him, only he hadn’t realized it yet.

He should have noticed it sooner. Chu Zhaoyi harbored an inexplicable hostility towards anyone who appeared to be close to him.

Even Lu Eryin was inexplicably disliked.

The end credits were playing on the screen, the piano notes like raindrops falling into a deep pool. Chu Zhaoyi suddenly propped himself up, his knees sinking into the sofa, his whole body looming over Gu Yusen.

This domineering posture caused his hair to brush against the other’s nose, carrying the coldness of cedar shampoo.

“What about now?” He imitated the protagonist in the movie, tracing Gu Yusen’s Adam’s apple with his index finger. “Will you kiss me? Like them.”

His tone was as calm as if he were discussing the dinner menu, but his trembling fingertips betrayed his nervousness.

Gu Yusen’s pupils contracted sharply. He abruptly grabbed the back of Chu Zhaoyi’s neck, but released his strength the instant he pulled him down, ultimately only nuzzling his nose against his: “A-Yi, kissing is something you do with someone you like.”

“Like,” Chu Zhaoyi suddenly bit his lower lip, grinding his tiger teeth as if a little beast was confirming its prey. “Does this count?” Without waiting for an answer, he then extended the tip of his tongue and licked the tooth marks from before. “Or this?”

Gu Yusen finally lost his patience and flipped over, pinning him down on the sofa. Two buttons on Chu Zhaoyi’s pajamas had popped open, revealing the light blue blood vessels beneath his collarbone. He stared at the throbbing shadows there, his voice terrifyingly hoarse: “A-Yi, if you move recklessly again this time, there’s really no turning back.”

But Chu Zhaoyi suddenly laughed. It was a laugh Gu Yusen had never seen before, the corners of his eyes curving into a cunning arc, like a wolf cub who didn’t know the immensity of the world: “Brother Sanmu, I’ve drawn many pictures of your face. They’re all locked in the cabinet in my studio, and they’re my most treasured possessions.”

He hooked Gu Yusen’s tie. “Why do you think I can remember the location of the mole on the corner of your eye?”

The air suddenly fell silent. A night heron startled outside the window skimmed the treetops, scattering starlight across the ground.

His relationship with Gu Yusen was something he had painstakingly obtained after taking 999 steps.

Naturally, he would personally take the final step as well.

He didn’t care what kind of relationship the two of them had, nor did he care what type of affection it was.

He only wanted to be the person Gu Yusen cared about most.
