Chapter 66: Strange

    Chapter 66: Strange

As soon as he finished speaking, the wind howled even more fiercely, causing Master Mu and the two guards to lose their footing and quickly grab onto the trees for support.

Making such a commotion, Mu Chuang feared that he would quickly attract the Taoist master and his apprentice. In his anxiety, he bit his finger and sprinkled a few drops of blood from his fingertip. An unexpected scene occurred—

The wind stopped, and the forest returned to silence.

“Haha…” He laughed triumphantly, “Turns out I was born to be your bane. Even the little Taoist is suppressed by me, but you can’t beat me. Looks like you’re just destined to be unlucky!”

Master Mu, seeing that the wind had stopped, ordered the two guards to quickly get to work.

To save time, Mu Chuang didn’t stand idle either. He picked up the shovels they brought and joined the effort.

Master Mu stood aside as a lookout.

Mu Chuang was strong, doing the work of two, even surpassing the two guards. Digging the person out was much faster than burying him.

In just one night, Wu Liangde would be exposed, baring his teeth. If he hadn’t been discovered by the Taoist, it would have caused a major disaster.

“Drag him deeper and throw him into the wild animal den.” Master Mu gave the order, and the guards quickly acted.

Mu Chuang, however, considered that his “old man” wasn’t skilled in martial arts and wasn’t very nimble. He wanted him to go back first, lest he be discovered by the Taoist and couldn’t run fast enough. “Dad, you go back first. I’ll keep watch here for them for a while.”

Master Mu glanced at the backs of the two guards dragging Wu Liangde into the deep mountains, and then looked around. He responded, “Alright, then be careful yourself. Don’t let the Taoist master and apprentice discover you.”

“I know,” Mu Chuang said anxiously, “Hurry up and leave, you’ll be the slowest one to run if they come.”

His blunt reminder immediately earned him a glare from his father, and then he saw him leave in a hurry.

Mu Chuang stared at the pit in front of him, not planning to fill it back in because he wanted to mislead others into thinking that Wu Liangde had been dug up and eaten by wild animals. Filling it back in would only arouse suspicion.

He picked up the shovels they had used and hid them in a secret place, then followed the direction the two guards had gone.

On the other side, the little Taoist led his master in a hurry.

The master and apprentice each carried a Yin-Yang flag and a bell, walking along while ringing the bell, which could be heard from a long distance away.

Mu Chuang quickened his pace. If it weren’t for the abundance of grass and trees in the forest, he would have used his Qinggong directly. The main reason was that he wasn’t very skilled and couldn’t stop properly, fearing that he would accidentally crash into a tree and become a laughingstock.

The Taoist master and apprentice soon arrived in front of the brambles and found that they had been moved away, revealing a human-shaped pit with nothing inside.

“Taken away by someone?” The little Taoist scratched his head, looking puzzled. “Who has such great ability? Even I was almost backfired at the time.”

The old Taoist narrowed his eyes, also finding the matter incredible. He picked up the Yin-Yang flag and shone it around, suddenly discovering a problem on the other side of the mountain.

“Over there.” His eyes gleamed as he stared at a certain spot, and with a flick of his legs, he teleported away.

    The little Taoist followed quickly.

Over there, the wild animals had finished devouring Wu Liangde’s body and were now chasing Mu Chuang and his servants like they were possessed, their eyes bloodshot.

In desperation, the group had to jump into the trees. Mu Chuang almost scratched his face because his brakes weren’t working.

The pack of wild animals crashed wildly at the base of the trees, causing the trees to sway and shake violently, their strength astonishing.

The Taoist master and apprentice teleported over and, seeing the scene, quickly raised the Yin-Yang flags, chanting incantations. The flags instantly emitted light, enveloping the possessed wild animals.

The wild animals immediately froze, all immobilized.

“Master, these wild animals have the same resentment as that person. Could it be that they ate him?”

“Yes,” the old Taoist replied. “But this master believes they didn’t find him on their own, but that someone deliberately caused it.”

“Ah?” The little Taoist grabbed his hair and asked the question in his heart again, “Who on earth has such great ability?”

“It must not be an ordinary person,” the old Taoist said thoughtfully. “Or someone who is destined to be his bane.”

Someone hiding in the tree heard this and sighed inwardly: Indeed!

He looked down and saw that the golden light originally emitted from the old Taoist’s Yin-Yang flag had turned black, then gradually burrowed into the flag and finally returned to its original state.

The pack of wild animals stopped rioting and their eyes returned to their original color. One by one, they collapsed on the ground, exhausted, as if the recent frenzy had drained all their strength.

“They really have some ability,” someone hiding in the tree admired secretly. “I wonder if they can destroy that thing of his.”

Mu Chuang thought that he had transmigrated and was afraid that his soul would be unstable and sucked away by that thing, and that he would never be reincarnated again.

Thinking of this, his palms broke out in a sweat, and even his back felt cold.

Fortunately, the old Taoist’s Yin-Yang flag had just been used and was currently digesting, so it had not yet detected their presence.

However, the master and apprentice did not rush to leave, but observed their surroundings.

Mu Chuang knew that they must be looking for the culprit who caused the wild animals to go crazy.

He tightened his grip on the tree trunk, unable to breathe too forcefully, but couldn’t help cursing in his heart, “Damn it, meddling in other people’s business. You’re done cleaning up, why don’t you leave? Do you believe I’ll go back and have my old man drive you out of Nanxi County and make you disappear from this area forever?”

As soon as he finished cursing, he saw the two Taoists turn around, as if preparing to leave.

Unfortunately, one of the two guards suddenly sneezed at this moment, causing the master and apprentice, who were about to leave, to stop again.

“Who’s there?” The old Taoist looked in the direction of the sound, staring at a certain tree and shouting, “Who’s being sneaky in broad daylight? Come down quickly!”

Guard A’s mind exploded. Making such a mistake at this time was really deadly.

He stayed where he was, not going down no matter how the old Taoist shouted.

In desperation, Mu Chuang began to observe the current escape route. He decided to abandon the two guards and leave first.

As long as he could escape, he would have a way to deal with it later, even if the two guards were discovered.

Having figured this out, the tree swayed slightly, and then a blue-purple figure flew out with a “whoosh” and disappeared into the vast void in an instant.

“Chase!” The old Taoist shouted and prepared to chase out, but unexpectedly, Guard A on the tree sneezed again, causing him to stop once more.

“How come there’s still someone up there?” He looked up at the movement in the treetops. “Come down, don’t wait for this poor Taoist to come up and invite you personally.”

Guards A and B discussed it and decided to flee in the opposite direction from the yamen in order to protect Mu Chuang. If they really couldn’t escape, they would wait to be dealt with.
