WTYTIAAN Chapter 43
by VolareChapter 43
Lian was groggy, only able to see a tall figure walking towards him through a haze of blood.
A bounty hunter…
…
After finally managing to pry open the prison door, Yan Yunqing entered and found Uncle Lian passed out.
Lillian didn’t need Yan Yunqing to say anything; she proactively waved her magic wand, casting a healing spell on Lian. After observing his vital signs, she informed Yan Yunqing, “He’s fine, just hasn’t slept in a long time. He was exhausted and fainted.”
Yan Yunqing hoisted him up. Having reached level 28, his constitution had increased significantly. Despite his slender frame, his strength stat wasn’t low, so carrying a full-grown man was no problem at all.
Yan Yunqing had just taken a step when he heard footsteps approaching from afar, likely the guards returning.
Clicking his tongue lightly, Yan Yunqing moved his mind and detonated an outermost flame emblem. A few screams and curses rang out, and Yan Yunqing asked Lillian, “You said there were other passages here, can you find their approximate location?”
“Let me sense it.” Lillian closed her eyes, feeling the elements floating in the air. “Follow me.”
With that, Lillian flew forward, and Yan Yunqing followed closely behind, carrying Lian.
They eventually stopped in front of an unremarkable wall, showing no sign of a door, but Lillian was certain the passage was behind it.
Yan Yunqing installed a low-quality flame emblem on the wall, retreated to the corner, and detonated it with a magic imprint. With a bang, dirt clods flew, and dust filled the air.
Yan Yunqing hid behind the corner, avoiding being hit by the debris. Waving away the dust, he peeked out and saw that the wall where he had placed the flame emblem had been blown open, purple flames burning on the ground, revealing a dark passage behind it.
There really was another passage!
Hearing the approaching footsteps and the guards’ shouts, Yan Yunqing gritted his teeth and stepped over the purple flames, rushing towards the stairs in the passage.
Perhaps his eyes were special, as Yan Yunqing could see in the dark as clearly as in normal light, unaffected by anything, and even somewhat afraid of bright light.
Yan Yunqing walked a distance along the passage and could hear the sounds of fighting. He kept close to the wall and finally saw a group of people fighting as he exited the stairs.
Coincidentally, the masked people fighting the guards still had the words ‘Blood-Red Mist’ floating above their heads.
Well, wasn’t this a coincidence?
Yan Yunqing had only been in this capital city twice, and both times he had encountered people from ‘Blood-Red Mist’ when he was causing trouble. What a fate!
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Yan Yunqing had unilaterally decided that the other party was his friend.
Of course, as friends, they should attract the fire from the front, allowing him to leave smoothly.
Yan Yunqing had Lillian hide and, carrying Lian, quietly slipped past along the wall. The battle was nearing its end. Seeing that there were few red dots left on the minimap, he had to leave quickly to avoid being caught by the ‘Blood-Red Mist’ people.
Yan Yunqing didn’t believe that the ‘Blood-Red Mist’ people who had let him go last time would be kind enough to let him go again this time.
After all, the circumstances were different. Last time, Yan Yunqing was clearly a beastman who had been persecuted, but this time… would anyone believe he had stumbled in by mistake?
If he were in their shoes, he wouldn’t believe that a stranger suddenly appearing in such a secret place had nothing to do with it.
In fact, he really was just passing by, but no one would believe him.
Anticipating a situation where he couldn’t explain himself, Yan Yunqing moved more carefully, paying close attention to the surrounding environment and the markings on the minimap.
Fortunately, the minimap had updated after Yan Yunqing entered the passage, and now there were several places that looked like exits. Yan Yunqing decided to take a gamble and try his luck.
The journey wasn’t far, but avoiding everyone’s sight was difficult.
Yan Yunqing passed a corner and ran headfirst into a guard trying to escape. Before the guard could cry out, he pounced and covered the guard’s mouth, slitting his throat with a knife.
Warm blood splattered on his face, but Yan Yunqing’s heart was still, not a ripple of emotion.
Yan Yunqing seemed naturally suited to struggling in such a chaotic world. Eighteen years of modern education had not made him an orderly and good person but rather a chaotic neutral… well, chaotic good, perhaps.
If he went back now and had a psychological examination, wouldn’t he be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder?
Yan Yunqing pondered in his heart.
Forget it, he probably wouldn’t be able to go back anyway. If players were too orderly and good, they would die miserably.
Yan Yunqing never put shackles on himself, doing whatever was necessary.
The direction the escaping guard had been heading was the same as Yan Yunqing’s. He guessed that the exit he had chosen was a real exit; otherwise, why would even those trying to escape choose it?
When Yan Yunqing finally reached the exit and was about to rush out, he suddenly saw a small yellow dot appear on the minimap in front of him, right in the exit passage he was about to enter.
Startled, Yan Yunqing quickly hid himself and held his breath, staring in that direction.
A figure slowly emerged from the dark passage, the face hidden in the shadows gradually revealing itself—
A black fitted outfit, bandages wrapped around the arms, and a wide scarf around the neck, concealing half of the face, with a half-black mask revealing a pair of black-brown eyes.
Hair the same color as his eyes was lifted by the wind from the passage, and his whole being radiated a sense of austerity, like a sword drawn from its sheath, incredibly sharp.
His pace wasn’t fast, but each step was large, as if those long legs wished to cover a meter with each stride. The masked people who were still confronting the guards stopped and looked at him, seemingly waiting for his orders.
The man’s gaze swept across the space, his expression indifferent, “Finish them all, leave no one alive.”
“Yes!”
Hearing this voice, Yan Yunqing was startled. He had thought this person looked a little familiar. This was the man he had met at the tavern, the one who had grabbed him by the scruff of his neck!
Damn it, judging by the respectful attitude of the surrounding yellow dots, this guy was at least a minor leader in ‘Blood-Red Mist’!
Lillian, who had been hiding in Yan Yunqing’s hood, let out a soft gasp, as if she had suddenly sensed something.
The man’s gaze instantly pierced towards Yan Yunqing’s direction, sharp as an arrow, breaking through the darkness and shooting straight at him.
Yan Yunqing’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately crouched down, using the nearby pillar to shield himself.
“Boss, did you find something?” The masked man next to him looked in the direction of his gaze, but could only see darkness.
The man narrowed his eyes, raised his hand to stop the other’s question, and strode towards the direction Yan Yunqing was hiding.
The sound of his heels tapping against the ground grew closer, and Yan Yunqing’s heart was in his throat. He glanced at Lian, who had been placed aside and was still unconscious. He pursed his lips, quickly pushed Lian towards the passage, and then used his disguise skill.
He shrunk back into his little black cat form, glancing towards Lillian.
Lillian understood and, using the pillar as cover, immediately flew upwards. There was nothing to push off of in the air, and it was impossible for a person to cling to the ceiling out of nowhere. Ordinary people would ignore the space above, a visual blind spot.
Yan Yunqing, suppressed by his bloodline, stiffly flicked his tail.
The man rounded the pillar, his muscles tensed, ready to attack at any moment, but instead met the cat eyes behind the pillar.
“…A cat?” The man was somewhat surprised.
Yan Yunqing stiffly licked his paw, pretending to be nonchalant.
He knew that his two appearances in front of this man, and now meeting in such an awkward place, would seem suspicious to anyone.
But he had no choice. He could rely on his small size after transforming to escape quickly, but Uncle Lian would be left behind. Yan Yunqing was worried that the masked men would think Lian was with the guards and kill him.
What had he been working so hard for all night then? To make sure Uncle Lian was completely dead?
Yan Yunqing could only crouch in place, enduring the bloodline suppression, attracting the man’s attention and hoping he would ignore Lian’s ‘corpse’ lying behind him.
Anyway, he was just a little cat who didn’t understand anything. Surely, he couldn’t make things difficult for a little cat!
The man frowned, looked at the familiar dark red eyes of the little black cat, and clicked his tongue lightly.
“Boss, what’s wrong? Did someone run out?”
The man waved his hand, looking down at the little black cat sitting in place and licking its fur. “It’s nothing, continue.”
Yan Yunqing imitated the posture of a cat again, grooming the fur on his face, acting just like a real cat. Finally, the gaze that had been focused on him, bringing him great pressure, disappeared.
Yan Yunqing breathed a sigh of relief, but the next second, everything blurred, and the scruff of his neck was being grabbed again!
“Mew—” Yan Yunqing instinctively let out a shrill cry, startling the other masked men.
“What was that sound? A child’s cry? Where are the children?” A masked man who was closest to the area looked around in surprise and cursed, “Those heartless bastards, wouldn’t they even use children to feed the monsters?”
One of the masked men was beating a guard and, hearing this, became even more ruthless. “Damn it, I hate scum who harm women and children the most! You all deserve to die!”
He landed several punches on the guard’s nose, causing him to bleed profusely, his head almost being bashed to a pulp.
“Speak! Where are the children!”
Guard (weakly): I don’t know! When have they ever used children to feed monsters???
The man holding the little black cat chuckled, “It’s nothing, just a black cat, no children.”
Yan Yunqing glared at the man: He grabbed him again!!!
Yan Yunqing ground his teeth, wanting to rush up and bite the man, but suppressed by his bloodline, he could only be a cat with its tail between its legs.
Yan Yunqing keenly saw Lillian preparing to rush down to save him and quickly winked at Lillian when the man wasn’t paying attention.
Although he didn’t know how high the man’s level was, being a minor leader in a mysterious organization meant he certainly wasn’t weak. Lillian, who was more inclined towards support, might not be a match for him.
Anyway, he was just a little cat now, and this man couldn’t possibly abuse a cat, right? Lillian should hide first, and once everyone’s attention was no longer on them, quickly run with Lian.
He wondered if Lillian’s small body could drag Lian…
Perhaps reading Yan Yunqing’s eyes, Lillian hesitated in mid-air.
She seemed to want to rush down, but was stopped by Yan Yunqing’s gaze.
After a long while, she could only glare fiercely at the back of the man’s head, looking as if she wanted to tear him apart…?
Yan Yunqing was puzzled: Why did Lillian have such hostility towards a stranger? Did they know each other before?
Yan Yunqing’s scattered thoughts stopped when the man held him in his arms.
This damned bloodline suppression…
This damned guy… stay away from him!
