Chapter Index

The Sigret Office fell into an eerie silence. The gray-haired grandma pushed up her reading glasses and hesitantly glanced at Divic again.

The badge couldn’t be fake, but she certainly hadn’t seen this person before.

    How strange.

“Alright, I’ll send a message to Ms. Allison.” Her gaze swept over Divic and Yan Yunqing, and she relented, “This teacher can go in first, and I’ll take this student to the headmaster later.”

Divic didn’t hesitate for even a second, directly refusing, “No need, I’ll go with you.”

    Office Grandma: …?

Suspicion flickered in her eyes as she took out a small token and tapped it a few times, while scrutinizing Yan Yunqing and Divic back and forth.

    She probably suspected them.

Yan Yunqing sighed inwardly, but the office door was pushed open again. Walkerly entered the room, covered in wind and snow. He stamped his feet at the door, shaking the snow off his shoulders. “It suddenly started snowing heavily, I almost fell.”

He looked up and saw Yan Yunqing. Walkerly’s eyes lit up, and he raised a hand in greeting. “Yo, kid, it’s been a while. Are you back from completing your assessment mission?”

“Ah, Teacher Walkerly.” Yan Yunqing smiled at the sight of a familiar face. “Yes, I was lucky this time and completed the mission smoothly.”

“I heard you drew the golden exam question?” Walkerly said with a smile. “No student has ever drawn that kind of question before. You’re the first. We were all wondering if you’d make it back.”

Walkerly walked to Yan Yunqing’s side and patted him on the shoulder. “Looks like I guessed right. Good kid, I knew I wasn’t wrong about you.”

He gave a thumbs up, a hearty smile revealing his teeth.

“I really appreciate the teacher’s trust.”

Yan Yunqing thought this Teacher Walkerly was really interesting.

“It’s nothing. Allison also thought you could do it.” Walkerly laughed. He greeted the gray-haired grandma who had been scrutinizing Yan Yunqing. “Good day, Ms. Theresa.”

“Good day, Teacher Walkerly.” Theresa nodded slightly to Walkerly, then looked at Yan Yunqing. “Do you know this student?”

“Of course, I was the one who received him three months ago and took him to Ms. Allison. He’s the student who drew the golden exam question.” As he spoke, Walkerly slapped his forehead, realizing something. “Oh, look at me, I forgot. You’ve been away from school for a while, you probably didn’t hear everyone’s discussions.”

Theresa’s expression was indifferent. “I see. In that case, please, Teacher Walkerly, take this student… and this teacher in. I’ve already sent a message to Ms. Allison, and she agreed.”

Walkerly still wore a wide smile, not letting Theresa’s coldness dampen his enthusiasm. “Of course, I’m going back to school anyway, it’s no trouble.”

He waved to Yan Yunqing. “Come on, kid, come with me to find Ms. Allison and have her judge whether you passed your entrance exam.”

Walkerly’s gaze passed over Yan Yunqing and landed on Divic, scanning his teacher’s badge. “And this, uh, teacher? Come with us too. Are you also here to see Ms. Allison?”

Divic was about to answer no when Yan Yunqing cut him off again. “That’s right, when I met this teacher at the city gate, he said he was here to visit Ms. Allison.”

    Divic: ?

    When did he say that?

But a smart dragon wouldn’t refute the king in front of others. Divic silently nodded, accepting the excuse Yan Yunqing had made up.

Walkerly seemed to believe it. He said cheerfully, “That’s a coincidence. Let’s go, it’ll save one trip’s worth of teleportation energy.”

Nodding in Theresa’s direction, Walkerly led Yan Yunqing and Divic toward the small room where they had taken the teleportation array before. Yan Yunqing looked back and saw that Theresa had already picked up the heavy book again and was flipping through it, her head lowered.

Where did that hostility come from?

Could it be that she has a bad relationship with the Light Church, so she’s unhappy seeing that he was recommended by the Pope of the Light Church?

Yan Yunqing thought he might have grasped the truth. Walkerly led them through the teleportation array again, teleporting them into Sigret Academy. After getting away from the office, Walkerly gave Yan Yunqing an apologetic smile.

“Professor Theresa is quite strict, didn’t scare you, did she? Actually, she’s a very good teacher. She mainly teaches defensive magic and the Eternal Chronicle. If you’re interested, you can take her course later.”

Yan Yunqing’s gaze shifted for a moment. “…The Eternal Chronicle? Is it specifically about the history of the Eternal Empire?”

“More or less. For some reason, Professor Theresa is particularly interested in the history of the Eternal Empire. She’s been researching it all these years, and has even gone to explore many ruins for it. Like this time, Professor Theresa just came back from the Eternal Ruins.”

“Huh? I remember your assessment was in Freedom City, right?” Walkerly suddenly remembered. “Then, calculating the time, Professor Theresa just got back from there, and you arrived in Freedom City. What a coincidence. Did you two meet in Freedom City?”

“After all, the city closest to the Eternal Ruins is Freedom City. Professor Theresa should have resupplied there.”

    Is that so?

Yan Yunqing shook his head upon hearing this. “When I was in Freedom City, I was busy with the assessment and didn’t move around much in the city. I didn’t run into Professor Theresa.”

He had only wandered around the city for two days when he first arrived in Freedom City and didn’t quite remember if he had met this professor. But even if he had, this professor probably wouldn’t recognize him.

He used his own appearance to enter Sigret. He wasn’t using this face in Freedom City. Apart from the obvious features of black hair and red eyes, Yan Yunqing had deliberately changed his face.

    Walkerly: “That’s a pity.”

Divic still followed silently behind them. Walkerly looked back at him and smiled, pulling him into the conversation. “What’s this teacher’s name? I don’t seem to have seen you at the school before? Are you a new teacher?”

Divic subconsciously glanced at Yan Yunqing. Yan Yunqing didn’t want him to hide it, so he didn’t give him any signal. Since Sigret Academy was opened by Merlin, this academy could basically be considered half their territory. There was nothing to hide in their own territory.

Moreover, Divic was a proper honorary professor and a dragon, a true long-lived species. It wouldn’t be strange for him to have lived this long.

    Divic paused, then answered, “Charmet.”

He didn’t answer the remaining questions, probably because he hadn’t made up a lie yet.

Yan Yunqing was a little surprised. He had thought the name Charmet was just a fake name Divic had randomly made up when he entered Mantiper, but it seemed that it was actually the name Divic used when traveling outside.

Walkerly didn’t mind. He smiled and chatted a few more times, following the previous route and leading Yan Yunqing and Divic all the way to the top floor of the Black Tower.

Knocking on the door, Allison didn’t hold them up this time, responding softly from inside, “Come in.”

Walkerly opened the door, and Yan Yunqing saw a spotless headmaster’s office. If it weren’t for his previous experience, he would have really thought this Ms. Allison was an extremely fastidious person.

Now, Yan Yunqing lowered his head to look at the floor, which was so shiny it reflected light, and fell into silence: Ms. Allison wouldn’t have heard that someone was coming and cleaned the headmaster’s office temporarily, would she?

Looking up, he saw Ms. Allison buried in a pile of documents, writing furiously with a quill pen, while another elegant lady was sitting on the sofa not far away.

Unlike Allison, whose intellectual appearance occasionally revealed a childish girlishness, this woman sitting on the sofa with a coffee cup looked more calm and intelligent, with a sense of historical sedimentation between her eyebrows.

Her appearance was still young and beautiful, but she gave people the feeling that a very old elder was sitting here.

“Walkerly—” Allison looked up, saw Walkerly come in, and her expression suddenly collapsed. “Save me!! I don’t want to write these documents anymore!”

“Ms. Allison…” Walkerly was a little dumbfounded by this yell. He saw another lady sitting on the sofa and understood what had happened. He nodded to that lady in greeting. “Ms. Penelope, long time no see. When did you come back?”

“Long time no see, Walkerly. I just came back today.”

Penelope gently placed the coffee cup in her hand on the table, smiled and gestured to Walkerly, but her gaze fell on Yan Yunqing behind him.

The smile on her lips remained unchanged as she bowed slightly in Yan Yunqing’s direction.

Yan Yunqing’s eyes flickered, and he nodded slightly to Penelope.

Although he had never met this lady, Yan Yunqing realized who she was when he heard Walkerly call her name.

Penelope, a student that Merlin’s student had accepted as a student. Strictly speaking, Merlin was her grandmaster.

Currently, she was the real headmaster of Sigret Academy and Allison’s sister.

“Walkerly, why are you ignoring me—” Allison howled even louder. “Hurry up and save me, I’ve been looking at these documents all day!!”

Walkerly was attracted by Allison’s voice and didn’t notice the interaction between Yan Yunqing and Penelope at all. He stepped forward helplessly. “Ms. Allison, there are still students here, please pay attention to your image.”

Allison scratched her hair irritably. “Ah, I want to pay attention to my image, but if I keep looking at this, some of my beautiful virtues will disappear!”

    Yan Yunqing looked sideways.

“Are there really that many?” Walkerly subconsciously looked in Penelope’s direction.

Penelope finally spoke, “If Allison hadn’t been soaking in the study for two whole weeks, not dealing with any affairs during that time, she wouldn’t have accumulated these affairs to this extent.”

She shook her head helplessly. “Just before you came, Allison had just started processing these documents. The time wasn’t very long. Please ignore her complaints. She just thinks you’re easy to bully and wants you to help her complete these trivial matters.”

Allison, whose purpose was exposed, stuck out her tongue. “Oh, don’t say that, I didn’t think Walkerly was easy to bully. Isn’t that right! Walkerly~ Please help me, I really can’t finish processing them.”

Allison showed an egg-bag with tears in her eyes. “The ruthless Penelope said that if I don’t finish processing them today, she won’t let me eat. It’s really hateful.”

    Walkerly: …

Walkerly sighed, supporting his forehead, “I know, I know.”

As he spoke, he walked towards Allison’s desk. “You first find the documents that need to be processed urgently and give them to me. I can only help you process half of them, please solve the remaining half yourself.”

Allison jumped up upon hearing this, no longer looking pitiful, smiling very smugly. “Great, I knew Walkerly was the best!”

Penelope shook her head helplessly. “It’s precisely because you always indulge Allison that she’s already two hundred years old and still lives like a child.”

Walkerly and Allison showed a guilty expression at the same time, identical to each other.

“Forget it.” Penelope stood up. “Then let’s leave this office to you. I hope you can process all these documents by the evening.”

After speaking, she turned to Yan Yunqing. “In that case, how about you change places with me to discuss the admission matters?”
