    Chapter 75

    Chapter 75

With the college entrance exam imminent, Shuai Xiaoyun finally stopped delivering breakfast every day.

This made things difficult for Ye Xing, who now had to buy three breakfasts each day: one for the next class, and one for his deskmate. While other high school students’ bags were filled with the scent of ink and paper, his was filled with the aroma of cabbage and pork.

This was the story of how a slacker turned into an emotionless breakfast-delivery machine.

However, this so-called slacker was not the same as before. At least now he could do homework with his boyfriend online every night—this was thanks to Qi Guang no longer letting him copy his work.

Whether his studies had improved or not was unknown, but he was acutely aware of the pain of sleep deprivation.

He could barely stay awake in any class besides Lu Yueyang’s. It was as if all the other classes were playing lullabies; the moment he closed his eyes, he wouldn’t be able to open them again.

It seemed it was time to ask Qi Guang for mercy and have a serious discussion about how to manage their study time and, perhaps, occasionally copy some homework!

During evening self-study, he tore a strip from his draft paper and, after thinking carefully for a while, wrote a line. He glanced up at the teacher at the podium, then reached out and placed the note on Qi Guang’s desk.

-It’s quite late after evening self-study, and our online study sessions aren’t very efficient. How about you let me copy your homework sometimes?

Qi Guang, absorbed in his practice questions, was taken aback. He stuffed the note under his workbook with a blank face, without even looking up, let alone giving an appeasing glance.

Then he continued to work on the calculations on his draft paper.

Ye Xing glared at him, then sighed and opened his notebook.

He had no mind to study for the entire class, thinking of a hundred ways to punish his cold and distant boyfriend, finally deciding to win back by being even more aloof.

But as soon as the bell rang, Qi Guang threw a key on his desk.

He listlessly propped his head up with his hand, “What?”

“Judging by its appearance, it should be a key,” Qi Guang said.

    “…”

Ye Xing turned his head, his eyes screaming “You’re crazy.”

Qi Guang smiled, “I promised to get you one last time.”

“Oh,” Ye Xing stretched, “I was just joking.”

“It’s because I’m too lazy to keep opening the door for you,” Qi Guang said.

“Keep opening the door for me?” Ye Xing frowned at him.

Qi Guang looked around; everyone was packing up their bags and saying goodbye, no one was paying attention to this corner. He swallowed and said, “Are the mosquitoes at your place behaving lately? Do you want to come to my place?”

“I had screens installed…” Ye Xing started to say, then suddenly stopped, “Wait, what did you just say?”

Qi Guang patted his bag, standing up, “Since your place has screens, then…”

Before he could finish, Ye Xing grabbed his bag, interrupting him, “Okay! Let’s go to your place! I’m going home with you today!”

This was the story of how an eternal pushover easily surrendered in the game of love.

Maybe his voice was too loud, attracting the attention of passing students who covered their mouths and laughed. After laughing, a few brave ones turned back to look.

Qi Guang couldn’t even pretend not to notice.

Ye Xing, however, didn’t care at all and dragged him out.

“Are you in such a rush?” Qi Guang slung his bag over his shoulder.

“Don’t you want me? Are you going back on your word? Just being polite? Can you be any more fake with your boyfriend?” Ye Xing whispered in his ear, asking one question after another.

“Your reverse psychology doesn’t work on me,” Qi Guang lifted his chin, avoiding eye contact.

“My fragile heart has been hurt,” Ye Xing slowed his pace.

His tone completely disregarded the hundred rules he had just made in his mind to punish his cold and distant boyfriend.

In Ye Xing’s world, rationality was easily defeated by emotion.

“I didn’t expect that Ye Xing, whose skin is thicker than a city wall, has such a fragile heart, I am honored to be educated!” Qi Guang stopped and looked at him.

“It will be too late if you don’t make amends! I’m warning you!” Ye Xing glared at him.

The other classes must have had teachers taking extra time to explain questions, because only their class had ended on time. The hallway quickly emptied, leaving only the two young lovers dawdling.

Qi Guang leaned in, “No rush, your heart is hurt, your body can…”

“Holy shit! Holy, holy, holy! Shut your mouth!” Ye Xing predictably jumped back, so agitated he almost slipped up, “Qi Guang, I really didn’t expect you to be this kind of person. You’re getting better at driving! Was that righteous appearance you had before we were together all an act? It must have been hard for you. There isn’t anyone in this whole town more flirtatious than you!”

“How would I dare compare with you?” Qi Guang shrugged. “My flirtation is only verbal, but yours is ingrained in your bones. Last time, I don’t know who was in the classroom forcing a kiss on me…”

“Shut up! I admit defeat, okay!” Ye Xing said, both amused and annoyed.

Qi Guang still wouldn’t let it go, “You even dragged me to the bathroom…”

    Ye Xing covered his mouth.

“I was wrong.” Qi Guang lay on the sofa, his hands pinned above his head by Ye Xing.

He moved his leg, but the other pressed down even harder.

“Wrong about what?” Ye Xing looked down at him.

“… I shouldn’t have teased you.” Qi Guang said, looking away and laughing.

Ye Xing turned his face back and yelled, “No, you should! Show me now!”

“I know I was wrong.” Qi Guang whispered, looking at him.

“Good for nothing, first place in trash talk!” Ye Xing let him go, “Every time things get real, you immediately turn into a coward.”

Qi Guang sat up on the sofa.

Was this what they called “letting the wolf in”?

He should have realized something was wrong with this person downstairs. When he passed the barbecue stand, which was usually a fatal attraction for Ye Xing, he didn’t even glance at it, instead going straight home with him. As expected, the first thing he did after entering the door was push him onto the sofa.

You dog! You’ve probably had your head filled with lust since school ended.

    So easily teased.

Qi Guang’s phone vibrated twice. He didn’t want to move, but after vibrating for a long time, he finally reached out and grabbed it.

It was a phone number without a saved name.

Although he hadn’t saved the name or tried to remember it, this phone call was still able to sweep away a whole day’s good mood.

The smile that had been on his face immediately disappeared.

He answered the call, a little annoyed.

“Are you home?” The familiar yet strange voice came through the phone.

“Boss Qi has my schedule down to the minute,” Qi Guang’s tone was cold.

The gentle Qi Guang had turned into a mocking one, causing the atmosphere to freeze in an instant, Ye Xing looked at Qi Guang and patted his shoulder lightly.

Qi Guang gave him a look that said, “Don’t worry.”

“Is it time to set up a meeting?” Qi Jingsheng said.

“Yes, I’ll contact you after my exam.” To prevent the other from rambling, Qi Guang didn’t waste any words, agreeing quickly.

    “Okay.”

After hanging up, the humid and warm atmosphere from before was gone.

Driven by some unknown impulse, he hadn’t wanted to do anything, but after being disturbed, he wanted compensation.

He turned to Ye Xing, touched the tip of his nose to his face, and then kissed him.

Ye Xing, who was completely confused by the phone call, had prepared a whole list of things to comfort him, but was even more confused by the sudden kiss.

    “You…”

As soon as he opened his mouth, Qi Guang turned his head and blocked his lips.

He finally understood, cowardly Qi Guang would only abandon his reservedness when he was not in a good mood.

    What a jerk!

He simply closed his eyes, bit Qi Guang’s soft lips, and slid his tongue in.

But since it was offered on a silver platter, not taking full advantage would be a loss. With this thought, Ye Xing pushed him down, found a stable position on the sofa, and reached for his pants.

After the rumors incident, 1984’s business had climbed back up to new heights. It must be said that sometimes a series of operations involving spreading rumors and then clarifying them could, despite the losses, increase awareness and ensure a steady stream of customers.

    What comes around goes around.

He didn’t know if he should be thankful for the arrangement of fate.

Some people on the online forum were still clinging to the rumors about 1984, probably not really connected to the original post. After all, when someone was popular, there would be gossip. Not to mention, this was a small but profitable bar. There were countless unknown bars that had long been envious of 1984, and they took this chance to kick it while it was down.

“Relax,” Bai Shu said. “Even Michael Jackson had a considerable number of haters.”

Although Xu Ge had never been concerned about the bar’s business situation… or rather, Xu Ge didn’t seem to have a special pursuit for money. The original intention of opening the bar was for his own enjoyment. He even handed all the accounts to Bai Shu to manage, acting like a complete hands-off boss.

But in the past few days, Xu Ge’s mood seemed to have been affected.

“You even know about Michael Jackson? Is he from your era?” Xu Ge glanced at him.

“The little kid downstairs from my place wants to learn street dance. You know, that tall and skinny kid who’s only in middle school and almost taller than me. He doesn’t have a computer, so he runs to my place every day to search for videos online.” Bai Shu sighed. “It’s hard not to know!”

“Oh! Looks like we’ll see you moonwalking soon?” Xu Ge laughed, placing his phone on the bar.

“I really tried it. People who do it look like fairies descending to earth, but I look like a ghost having seizures.” Bai Shu closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead.

Xu Ge was amused, laughing for a long time while holding his side.

“I’m really getting old, my back hurts every time I laugh for too long.”

“Xu Ge,” Bai Shu locked the screen of the phone that he had left on the bar, which still had a black post on the home page. He said seriously, “I just hope you don’t take those posts that kick you while you’re down to heart.”

“I’m not!” Xu Ge looked helpless and innocent.

“Your eyebrows are almost in a knot!” Bai Shu said.

Xu Ge laughed, looking towards the door and sighing, “It’s quite worrisome.”

After resuming normal operations, Xu Ge decided to keep the Men’s Night and Women’s Night tradition, holding the themed nights for two days a week, and keeping everything else the same.

Saying “the same,” was that there were more people than before. There was even a line outside the door. Seeing his store’s door becoming a typical example of illegal occupancy in this commercial plaza, even more lively than the street vendors next door, Xu Ge had a headache.

But it looked like he wouldn’t need to worry for long. Someone had already solved his problem.

“Everyone, don’t be silly standing in line at the Numbers Bar, the Liao Le Bar by the river has the same band, and they have discounts for their grand opening…” After reading a few lines into his phone, Qi Guang couldn’t help but curse, “This crappy Liao Le, can’t they live without Xu Ge? Openly stealing people!”

“You’re so full of energy! You still have the strength to curse people!” Ye Xing, who was lying next to Qi Guang, said with his eyes closed, “The first thing you do after the fun is to look at the forum with your phone, I guess I made a mistake…”

Qi Guang laughed, put down his phone, hugged him and kissed him on the head, “Sorry, I forgot you were Miss Ye.”

“Not so,” Ye Xing twisted his neck, “It’s that your good brothers are too many, young master.”

“What?” Qi Guang pulled Ye Xing closer to him, hugging him tighter. “Even Xu Ge… I warn you, don’t pick a fight over every little bit of jealousy, we’re not that poor.”

Ye Xing was also amused, patting his stomach and laughing for a long time. “I won’t, I won’t! You can rest assured, I’m very easy to take care of, I don’t even put vinegar on my dumplings!”

“Easy to take care of, hard to serve!” Qi Guang sat up, stepped over him, and stood on the floor. After looking around, he reached his foot under the sofa and pulled out a pair of slippers. “You want to shower first, or should I?”

“You go first,” Ye Xing scooted over, “I’m going to rest for a while.”

Qi Guang shook his head with a smile, “Lacking exercise.”

“Get lost!” Ye Xing picked up a pillow and threw it at him.
