TSIBAMS Chapter 71
by VolareChapter 71
Chen Town doesn’t have many bars, and 1984, located in the commercial district, is considered unique. However, there are quite a few unregulated bars, lacking both professional bartenders and a proper bar atmosphere. Some even switch from being a coffee shop during the day to a bar by simply changing the lighting at night.
Walking down the riverside scenic street, it was filled with these so-called bars.
Ye Xing looked at the shop names along the way, amused to the point of stopping in his tracks. “Waiting??? Was there just one called ‘Encounter’?? Is there going to be a ‘Long-Awaited Reunion’ later??”
“Why don’t you speak louder! If the owner comes out with a stick to beat you, I’ll just leave you here!” Qi Guang tugged on his arm, pulling him forward.
“Our name is better, at first glance you can’t tell what it means, so people who want to complain can’t find a starting point, and it’s easy to remember!” Ye Xing said, being dragged along, muttering, “So, did you read that book? What does it mean?”
“Can’t understand it!” Qi Guang said, walking ahead.
The sun was slowly sinking over the distant mountains, and the riverside viewing platform already had people setting up speakers to play music, summoning sisters from all directions to do square dancing.
It was unclear whether the elderly were becoming trendy or the young people were aging, but the song “Little Apple” blasting from the speakers made everyone who passed by sway to the beat. Ye Xing tried hard not to move along with the rhythm, but he heard Qi Guang whistling along.
“Should I sign you up, Brother Qi?” Ye Xing pulled him to his side, “I think you’d be perfect as a lead dancer!”
Qi Guang was stunned.
He hadn’t realized what he was whistling, and after realizing, he couldn’t help but laugh. “Sorry, couldn’t help it!”
“Look there!” Ye Xing still held onto him, the other hand pointing to a shallow beach on the opposite side of the river, “Remember when you used to fish there?”
“I remember,” Qi Guang looked in the direction he was pointing, then turned to glare at him, “Someone provoked me as soon as they came, and we even had a fight for no reason, how could I forget?”
Ye Xing lowered his head and smiled, “Qi Guang, I was wrong.”
“Actually, I don’t understand it,” Qi Guang said, “why you treated me like that during that time.”
Although it was a normal tone, Ye Xing interpreted a hint of grievance, and he didn’t know how to respond for a moment. It was said that people in love had zero IQ, and he didn’t want to drag the conversation to this topic when he mentioned fishing, because he was afraid of falling into this current situation.
He didn’t expect to be careless after all.
He was silent for a while before speaking.
“If it were anyone else, like Zhou Tian or Brother Xu, they wouldn’t be upset with you about this, right?” Ye Xing looked at him, “I didn’t have many friends growing up, it was the same no matter where I went. It was only when I came to Chen Town that I met you, and I foolishly told you everything.”
“So, you thought all the sincerity you gave me was exchanged for lies, and you didn’t even ask me before you flew into a rage?” Qi Guang said, “Ye Xing, you really are a child, making friends and dating is different, you know?”
Ye Xing didn’t rush to argue, but after a moment of silence, he widened his eyes.
Could it be that I had feelings for him back then?
Loving without realizing it?
He opened his mouth to say something but then suddenly jumped up as if remembering something, “Then why the hell weren’t you angry?”
If he was angry because he felt deceived, then Qi Guang’s tolerance of his anger was what ignited his final fury.
He repeatedly challenged him, but Qi Guang took a step back each time, and even returned good for evil by shielding him from a drink.
The frustration of punching cotton was still fresh in his memory.
And at this moment, Qi Guang was looking at him with a “are you sick?” expression.
Ye Xing ignored him, talking to himself, “I know, you grew up in Chen Town, you know a lot of people, and at that time I was just an ordinary friend who appeared in your calm life, like a passerby who suddenly came and could accept suddenly disappearing.”
“Did you like me back then?” Qi Guang stopped.
Ye Xing also stopped.
What the hell?
He took a deep breath.
He originally wanted to use this to make Qi Guang feel a little guilty in order to cover up his own mistake of provoking him first, but he didn’t expect to be outmaneuvered.
“Qi Guang,” Ye Xing glanced at him, “you’re really shameless!”
Let’s give each other an out, and everyone take a step down!
But the person in front of him seemed not to follow common sense, and moved his mouth, “I didn’t.”
Now it was Ye Xing’s turn to stare at him blankly.
Isn’t the standard answer “Not as big as yours” or something like that?
Qi Guang held up his phone, pointed it at the bar next to them, and clicked the shutter. It was completely dark, and a flash of light went off with the sound of the phone’s click.
He ignored the stares of the people around him, opened his conversation with Bai Shu, and sent the picture.
“What did you say?” Ye Xing asked.
“I said, I didn’t think of you as a passerby, and I didn’t want to accept you suddenly disappearing,” Qi Guang said.
Ye Xing sighed, not knowing whether to complain about his slow reaction time or praise his clear logic.
But before he could reply, Qi Guang spoke again, “The reason I wasn’t angry with you was because I was afraid you would disappear. After all, you’re an impulsive kid, sometimes you have a brain and sometimes you don’t, I can’t argue with you.”
Ye Xing, who had just organized his thoughts, instantly forgot what he was going to say.
It sounded quite touching at first, but thinking about it again, he was also scolding himself.
Should he be touched or should he be jumping mad?
Annoying!
Qi Guang’s phone vibrated, and he saw a message from Bai Shu.
-It’s this one.
He raised his chin towards Ye Xing, signaling him to go inside, then walked ahead. Ye Xing walked while looking up at the sign – Liao Le.
Wow, it stood out as unruly and violent among the bunch of artistic and awkward names.
The interior design also stood out among the mishmash of coffee bars, and surprisingly, it seemed to clash somewhat with the style of 1984.
Maybe because it was a date, maybe because it was a covert visit, Qi Guang chose a very corner spot, a corner where even the lights couldn’t reach, with only a negligible candle on the round table flickering alone.
Ye Xing stared at the candle, silent from the moment they entered to when they sat down.
“I thought you would have something to say,” Qi Guang looked at him.
“Actually, you could have just replied with ‘Not as big as yours’ and we could have moved on,” Ye Xing said.
“Not as big as yours?” Qi Guang widened his eyes looking at him.
He either didn’t take the previous joke to heart, or he had already forgotten about it. His face was full of disbelief and even a hint of ambiguous amusement.
Ye Xing glanced at him, “Yeah!”
“Bullshit!” Qi Guang kicked him, “Want to compare?”
“What’s there to compare?” Ye Xing frowned, “You’re the biggest!”
“There’s no need to be so modest about this,” Qi Guang laughed, wrapping his arm around his neck and whispering in his ear, “It must be fair, even if you lose, you have to lose convincingly.”
Qi Guang’s breath hit his ear, combined with the nonsensical context, Ye Xing’s face turned red, and he instantly understood what Qi Guang was talking about.
He wanted to honestly turn the page, but this person just changed to a different book!
What kind of dirty stuff was in his brain!
Maybe because it was a corner and there was no light, or maybe no one could see his blushing face, or maybe he was aroused by Qi Guang’s teasing, Ye Xing got bolder. He moved closer to Qi Guang and reached under the table, touching Qi Guang’s thigh.
“Damn!” Qi Guang trembled.
Ye Xing smiled triumphantly, and continued to move his hand upward, “Don’t you want to compare?”
Qi Guang’s whole body froze, forgetting how to resist, letting his hand move closer to an unspeakable area.
Although he and Ye Xing had only been intimate to the point of kissing and hugging, and touching or even helping each other would happen eventually, wasn’t it a little too exciting to take it this far in a bar?
This was too contrary to public order and morals!
“Sir, what would you like to drink?” A gentle and polite voice came from above.
A waiter wearing a suit vest appeared next to them at some point.
The two were instantly embarrassed, Ye Xing withdrew his hand, and Qi Guang also pulled his hand back from Ye Xing’s shoulder, taking the drink menu the waiter offered.
A small light was attached to the drink menu, illuminating the fancy names on the menu. Qi Guang didn’t care about the drinks, and randomly flipped a few pages, “One Passionate Summer and one Flying Eyebrows, thank you!”
After the waiter left, Ye Xing breathed a sigh of relief, “Finally gone, I don’t know if he saw.”
“Don’t worry, it’s so dark!” Qi Guang said.
Ye Xing moved closer again, “Let me kiss you to make up for it!”
But before he could turn Qi Guang’s face around, the bar lights suddenly turned on. Fortunately, it was only the part of the stage that was illuminated, and their little corner remained in the shadows.
Unfortunately, the resident band of 1984 was standing under the spotlights.
The two instantly lost all interest.
Qi Guang took out his phone, turned off the flash, clicked the shutter, then opened his conversation with Bai Shu, and sent the picture.
The mission was completed ahead of schedule, he didn’t know whether to be happy or sad.
This was not good news for 1984, and the appearance of that post was also likely related to this bar. Qi Guang was a little depressed, took a sip of the lemon water on the table and drank it all, then got up and went to the bar.
When he came back, he had two large glasses of beer in his hand.
“Didn’t we just order drinks?” Ye Xing asked.
“Those were cocktails we just ordered, who knows when they’ll be ready.” Qi Guang handed him a beer, “Drink some beer to quench your thirst.”
Ye Xing took a sip, and said with a grin, “Thanks for not letting me drink cola today, Brother Qi.”
“I’m giving you a day off today,” Qi Guang put his hands behind his head and leaned back in the chair, “Even if you act crazy when you’re drunk, it’s not a big deal, my house is nearby.”
Ye Xing was stunned, not sure if he understood the meaning wrong.
Regardless, his brain couldn’t stop producing some colorful thoughts.
