    Chapter 70

When Qi Guang mysteriously led him to this market, he finally understood why this person was dressed like this.

The already narrow street was filled with colorful stalls. Some had simple tables with a cloth laid out, while others were directly placed on the roadside. It looked like an ordinary market, but there were no vegetables, fruits, chicken, duck, or fish, and no one was shouting.

The dazzling array of goods ranged from dusty ceramic crafts to electronic products that seemed unusable. These electronic products included, but were not limited to, outdated models of mobile phones, audio equipment, and alarm clocks. There were also various old books, fountain pens, yellowed paintings, brightly colored but wrinkled clothes, chipped ashtrays, worn brooches…

    Ye Xing’s eyes were dazzled.

This was actually a second-hand market.

He turned his head in surprise, opened his mouth and forgot how to organize his words. After staring at Qi Guang for a long time, he blurted out, “Holy shit?”

“Hey, why are you cursing!” Qi Guang was amused by his silly look.

“What took you so long! Why are you only bringing me now?” Ye Xing pushed him.

“Didn’t I bring you here? This market is only open on Sunday mornings. I didn’t even get to sleep in today!” Qi Guang glared at him, “You heartless thing.”

Although he didn’t sleep in, he seemed to be in good spirits.

Ye Xing looked Qi Guang up and down again.

Confirmed, this was a prepared showoff!

Then he took out the film camera Qi Guang gave him from his bag and took two steps back. Qi Guang stopped him, “What are you doing?”

“Don’t move.” Ye Xing let go of his hand and took two more steps back, removed the lens cap of the camera, and held it up to his eye, looking at Qi Guang through the viewfinder.

Unlike the wide-angle lens he usually used, this camera was equipped with a fixed focal length lens. Qi Guang’s head completely occupied the viewfinder, and he had to step back a few more steps.

Qi Guang made a funny face in the lens.

Ye Xing was amused by his funny face. He slowly adjusted the aperture. However, after getting used to using SLR cameras, the feel of using a film camera was not so smooth. After adjusting the parameters for a long time, he still didn’t dare to press the shutter. After all, pressing the shutter once would use up one frame of film. This was a real consumable. Pressing it down meant money, so he had to be cautious.

Just as Qi Guang was getting a little bored and turned his head to look at the small items on the stalls, a side profile of him was captured in a hasty glance – Ye Xing suddenly pressed the shutter.

Tsk tsk, such a perfect jawline.

Ye Xing put down the camera and moved closer to him. Even though they were on a crowded street, he couldn’t help but reach out and touch Qi Guang’s face.

“Rogue!” Qi Guang laughed and slapped his hand.

Ye Xing took the opportunity to put his hand on his other shoulder, gently hugging him, and whispered in his ear, “I’m just a rogue to you, go ahead and sue me.”

After wandering around for several circles, Ye Xing didn’t buy anything. Every time he was about to buy something, Qi Guang would whisper in his ear –

    Too expensive.

    Fake.

    There are more behind.

As a result, he had gotten nothing even after walking through most of the market.

Finally, Ye Xing stopped in front of a stall. He decided that he had to buy something this time. His right hand pointed around at the small objects on the stall, “I’ll buy you an ashtray.”

“What for?” Qi Guang glanced at him.

Ye Xing turned his head to look at the Buddhist beads on Qi Guang’s hand and raised his chin, “Let’s redeem my thing! You’re addicted to wearing this? You haven’t given it back to me after so long.”

“You didn’t ask for it either!” Qi Guang widened his eyes, “I thought you gave it to me. So petty!”

“No!” Ye Xing was amused by his look, and ruffled his hair, “Even if I gave it to you, I should give you a new one. Do you want me to pick one for you next time if you like it?”

“I don’t want a new one,” Qi Guang refused decisively, shaking his head and throwing his hand down, staring at him firmly, and saying seriously, word by word, “I just want this one, the one that fell off of you!”

Ye Xing laughed even more wildly, “Tsk tsk, so you’re stubborn about this? You should have said so earlier!”

“I think you just can’t bear to part with it,” Qi Guang said with a rogue look, even raising his voice, “After all, it’s a piece of your flesh, and I’m just your boy…”

Before he could finish speaking, Ye Xing rushed up to cover his mouth. After looking around, he lowered his voice and yelled at him, “Do you want the whole street to stare at you? I think I shouldn’t buy you an ashtray, I should buy you a loudspeaker!”

After saying that, he pointed to the old yellowed loudspeaker on the stall in front of them, “That one, with some batteries, it should barely work. It’s perfect for a showoff like you to come out of the closet.”

Qi Guang rolled his eyes and turned his head to laugh.

Ye Xing shook his head and cleared his throat, “Brother Qi, not to rain on your parade, but how did you become this type after falling in love?”

    “What type?” Qi Guang asked.

“A kid type!” Ye Xing said loudly.

Qi Guang raised his knee and kicked him.

Ye Xing laughed and dodged, pointing to an ashtray with a Chang’e flying to the moon pattern on the stall, “Boss, I want this one, please wrap it up.”

After scanning the QR code on the tablecloth with his mobile phone to pay, he took the ashtray that the boss had wrapped in newspaper and handed it to Qi Guang.

“Hmm?” Qi Guang didn’t look up, looking at the thing in his hand.

“Take it, it’s for you.” Ye Xing shook the ashtray that was wrapped in newspaper and couldn’t be seen.

“Oh.” Qi Guang responded carelessly, took the ashtray and put it in his bag, then tugged at the Buddhist beads on his hand, preparing to take them off.

Ye Xing held his hand to stop him.

“What’s wrong?” Qi Guang looked up at him.

“Silly dog,” Ye Xing smiled, “It’s all yours.”

    Teasing me is fun, huh?

I will not be a gentleman if I don’t take revenge for this.

Qi Guang took two steps and squatted down beside a stall, “Boss, this one doesn’t need to be wrapped, how much is it?”

Looking at his back view like a child having a tantrum, Ye Xing felt like he was teasing his son. He jumped to Qi Guang’s side and squatted down too, “Good boy, what are you buying?”

Qi Guang handed him the thing while taking out money, “Take it and get lost!”

    A green tin wind-up frog?

    Oh! Damn!

Ye Xing was both amused and angry.

“You motherfucker!” He held the frog, baring his teeth, “Is this poisonous!”

“Logically speaking, this kind of green frog isn’t poisonous,” Qi Guang said, getting up and giving him some knowledge seriously, “The poisonous ones are toads.”

“Damn it!” Ye Xing laughed, “Teacher Qi, you’re so boring.”

Although he said he was boring, he actually liked this little thing very much. He squatted on the ground and played with the little frog in his hand, winding the frog’s belly a few times, and then put it on the ground. The frog jumped to Qi Guang’s feet, looking very happy.

    Familiar feeling!

When I was a child, I also had an identical wind-up frog. It was a toy that almost every child had. Now it is no longer popular, and it is probably discontinued. I didn’t expect to have it again at this age.

    Second-hand markets are magical places.

Qi Guang bent down and picked up the frog, pinched the wind-up and twisted it a few times and put it back in place, “Does it look like you?”

“You’re asking for a beating!” Ye, the frog, Xing jumped up.

It was almost noon, the number of people was gradually decreasing, and the stalls were also starting to pack up. Ye Xing, holding a pile of trophies, walked back home very satisfied.

In addition to some old books and small toys, mostly vinyl records were taking up space.

If Qi Guang hadn’t stopped him, he would have almost carried a phonograph home. Later, given that the price of the phonograph was not low, and there was really no need to add fuel to the fire for this non-essential item in their already impoverished household, he barely gave up after thinking it over.

“If you want to listen to it, just come to my house.” Qi Guang put his things into his bag one by one.

“Can I go whenever I want?” Ye Xing asked.

“Yeah,” Qi Guang looked up at him after zipping up the bag, “How about I get you a key?”

For a moment, it was unclear whether he was mocking himself or sincerely asking. Ye Xing nodded absentmindedly, “Okay.”

Qi Guang narrowed his eyes and laughed after a while, “We’ll get it made later.”

Ye Xing didn’t understand what the deep meaning behind his laughter was.

At this moment, Qi Guang’s mobile phone vibrated in his bag. He took out his mobile phone and looked at it. It was a message from Bai Shu.

-I found out about a newly opened bar recently, by the river, quite close to your house.

He and Ye Xing looked at each other, and directly dialed the phone back, “Is there anything suspicious about this one?”

“It just opened last week,” Bai Shu’s voice came from the phone, “The owner is Li Zhendong’s cousin, Li Xingbei.”

    Oh, these names go together.

“This Li Zhendong…” Qi Guang frowned, “Did he have any conflicts with Brother Xu before?”

“There wasn’t any conflict, but I can tell that Li Zhendong has always been displeased with Brother Xu. When Brother Xu used to hang out on the streets, he was very popular and he was jealous. But Brother Xu is someone who likes to have fun and doesn’t like to make enemies, so he never paid him any attention. ” Bai Shu said, “Even after Brother Xu retired, he’s still not reconciled. Although he won’t do anything openly, he’s good at causing trouble behind the scenes.”

“Do you suspect that he is behind this?” Qi Guang asked.

    “Yeah.” Bai Shu responded.

After a while, Qi Guang asked again, “Did you ask about the band?”

Bai Shu sighed, “It’s like I didn’t even ask.”

“Yeah, even if there’s anything, it’s not convenient for them to say.” Qi Guang said, “What’s the name of that bar? I’ll go there for a drink today.”

“I suddenly forgot, it’s a two-character name…” Bai Shu pondered for a while, “I’ll let you know when I remember.”

After hanging up the phone, he found that Ye Xing was staring at him.

“Looks like our date has an extra item today.” Qi Guang smiled, walked to a tofu pudding stall by the roadside, pulled Ye Xing down to sit, and shouted in the direction of the makeshift stall, “Boss, two bowls of tofu pudding!”

“Okay!” The boss yelled back while busy.

“I heard you,” Ye Xing took out a tissue to wipe the table, “But this date item doesn’t sound very romantic.”

Qi Guang took the tissue from his hand to help him wipe it, “I thought that being with me would make everything romantic no matter where we go!”

“Brother Qi? Did you forget to put your face on today!” Ye Xing pointed at him, “I’m embarrassed to call you Brother Qi!”

“The pot calling the kettle black! We’re both the same!” Qi Guang threw away the tissue, grabbed his hand, and put it back on his thigh, secretly rubbing it under the table.
