TSIBAMS Chapter 44
by VolareChapter 44
In the living room, Huang Shanshan continued to play the piano calmly. The piece was originally slow, but she slightly increased the tempo, making it sound not only romantic but also with a hint of struggle.
It truly fit the theme; the story of Romeo and Juliet was never just about romance.
Qi Guang picked up his schoolbag from the sofa, looking at her wanting to say thank you, but afraid of causing her trouble if someone heard, he ran towards the garage without saying a word.
Huang Shanshan didn’t look up or stop, determined to finish the piece.
The garage door slowly opened, and Ye Xing felt a little nervous listening to the piano music.
Why hasn’t Qi Guang come out yet?
Qi Jingsheng was in the driver’s seat, slowly starting the car and driving out. If he was completely out and Qi Guang hadn’t come out, all their efforts would be in vain!
Ye Xing’s hands were sweating, his eyes fixed on the door.
Finally, when Qi Jingsheng’s car was halfway out, Qi Guang rushed out like a sprinter.
He was wearing his school uniform, carrying his familiar schoolbag, his hair flying up due to the rapid movement, revealing his bare forehead.
Qi Jingsheng slammed on the brakes. His expression must have been hilarious at that moment, but Ye Xing didn’t have time to care. He waved vigorously at Qi Guang. The background piano music sounded like a triumphant bugle call. He even wanted to raise a flag to cheer.
Qi Guang rushed over, straddled the motorcycle next to Ye Xing, and then pulled Ye Xing behind him. He didn’t even have time to put on a helmet. The sound of a motorcycle starting cut through the quiet neighborhood as they quickly sped away.
Luckily, there were almost no people walking in the neighborhood, and they were out of the gate in no time, leaving Qi Jingsheng far behind.
“Where did you get the motorcycle?” Qi Guang asked as he drove, his voice filled with excitement.
“Just rented it! Not far from here, they delivered it in ten minutes! We’ll take a few more laps before returning it.” Ye Xing’s voice also had a hint of excitement.
“Ye Xing,” Qi Guang had a bunch of questions in his mind, but they didn’t matter. All he wanted to say were two words, “Thank…”
Before he could finish, Ye Xing answered the phone, “Hello.”
Qi Guang closed his mouth.
But he couldn’t close his ears. Ye Xing was too close. He couldn’t avoid hearing the voice from the receiver, a woman’s voice, which sounded like his mom.
“Little Xing, happy birthday, congratulations on turning eighteen.”
Birthday??
Today was Ye Xing’s birthday??
Qi Guang was so distracted he almost ran a red light, and quickly braked.
“Thank you, Mom. I’ve received the things you sent.” Ye Xing said.
Qi Guang was already excited about the successful escape. Now, hearing it was his birthday, he was even more restless. He turned his head to look at Ye Xing.
Oh, too close, he couldn’t see.
He could only hear the woman’s voice continue on the phone, “You’re not mad at Mom for not being there with you, are you?”
“Mom, don’t work too hard.” Ye Xing didn’t know how to answer.
At this moment, the green light turned on, and Qi Guang’s motorcycle sped off again. Even in the wind, the voice on the phone was still very clear, “Where are you? Why is it so noisy?”
“Just cruising around with a friend,” Ye Xing said.
“Then have fun, I’ll hang up now.”
Luckily, Fang Rong hung up the phone first. Otherwise, every time she asked questions like “You’re not mad at Mom for not being…” he wouldn’t know how to respond. After all, acting wasn’t his strong suit. Just acting out the scene with Qi Jingsheng had used up today’s quota!
After circling a few times and making sure they had completely shaken off Qi Jingsheng, they went back to the rental place to return the motorcycle. After Ye Xing paid and signed, Qi Guang was rummaging through his schoolbag.
He watched Qi Guang from afar, watched him take out his phone, and then look over at him with a look of excitement.
“I’ll treat you to a meal!”
“Okay, I want something they don’t have in Chen Town.” Ye Xing smiled as he walked towards him.
“Hot pot and barbecue are everywhere in Chen Town…” Qi Guang paused to think for a moment, “Do you want to eat Western food?”
Ye Xing waved his hand, “What’s so good about Western food? My stomach is a Chinese stomach.”
“Got it, you have a Chinese heart too!” Qi Guang was overexcited, and as he spoke, he reached out and touched his chest, lingering for two seconds, “It’s still warm.”
Ye Xing didn’t expect Qi Guang to be so intimate all of a sudden, his body froze. Only his heart was pounding, beating faster and faster, feeling like it could fly out if he opened his mouth.
Actually, he had always wanted to ask Qi Guang if he was kidding when he said “I can’t be the bottom” on the sofa at his house that day.
If he wasn’t the bottom, then who was?
Bai Shu????
The name suddenly popped into Ye Xing’s head. After all, among the people he knew, Bai Shu was the only one who was out and fit the “bottom” role.
Qi Guang wore his clothes.
Qi Guang had even slept in his house!!
But! The one who came to rescue Qi Guang was himself!
Ye Xing had never been possessive of his friends, but he vaguely felt that this was not just possessiveness toward a friend. More than being curious about Qi Guang, he wanted to ask himself what was going on.
Ye Xing, are you sick? Did you get infected?!
From morning to noon, he had been thinking about it all the way, and finally, he decided one thing – whether he was, depended on whether Qi Guang was.
So, you better restrain yourself, if you dare to seduce me, you’re done for!
“Let’s eat barbecue. There’s a place I used to go to a lot. I’ve been in Chen Town for so long I almost forgot what it tastes like.” Qi Guang didn’t notice the turmoil in the other person’s mind. He stopped a taxi at the intersection and beckoned him to get in.
After the two of them got into the back seat, Qi Guang’s excitement hadn’t worn off, “I knew I shouldn’t have rushed to return the bike!”
“In movies, people escaping always need to change vehicles constantly.” Ye Xing glanced at him and opened the window. “You would have been killed off within the first ten minutes.”
It had been so long since he was roasted by Ye Xing, Qi Guang felt a strange sense of emotion. He looked up and saw Ye Xing staring out the window with a blank face, his face flushed red.
It wasn’t because of the wind was it?
With that thought, he reached out…
Just as he touched his forehead, Ye Xing suddenly jumped up, his face showing an expression of panic or shock.
“Sorry…” Qi Guang looked at his face, which was even redder than before, even red to the roots of his neck, and felt somewhat at a loss.
Ye Xing awkwardly leaned his head against the window to cool off.
What’s wrong with this person??
He’s acting very strange!
Just then, Ye Xing’s phone vibrated in his pocket. He swiped open the screen, “Hello?”
“Little Ye, happy birthday! Are you mad at me for not texting you all morning? I’m telling you, come to KTV Room 305 right now, and I guarantee you won’t be mad anymore, maybe you’ll even cry! Hahahaha!”
From a distance, they could hear Zhou Tian’s smug laughter. Looking at Ye Xing’s blank expression, who hadn’t recovered, Qi Guang took his phone and said in an even smugger voice than Zhou Tian, “You’re too late, your little Ye is with me today.”
“You son of a bitch! Qi Guang, I couldn’t get in touch with you all morning!” Zhou Tian’s voice suddenly rose several times, even more unpleasant than a screaming chicken. Qi Guang finally understood why Ye Xing always held his phone away when he answered his calls. Then, Zhou Tian asked, “You’re with Ye Xing?!”
“Yeah,” Qi Guang glanced at Ye Xing, who was still staring out the window, without any intention of joining the conversation. So he said to Zhou Tian, “So, you guys have fun yourselves!”
Zhou Tian was doubting his existence on the other end of the line, “I might have just backed the wrong CP…”
“What language are you speaking?” Qi Guang frowned.
“I even invited Bai Shu to come over…” Zhou Tian was still complaining to himself.
“Bai Shu??” Qi Guang was even more confused.
At this moment, Ye Xing turned his head and looked at him, his expression of confusion was identical.
“Nevermind, we’ll have fun by ourselves, bye!” Before they could ask any further, Zhou Tian had already hung up.
As soon as the call ended, another one jumped in.
Qi Guang looked at the words “Huang Shanshan” on the screen and didn’t know what to do. Ye Xing glanced at it, took the phone and pressed the speaker button, “Hello.”
“You guys haven’t left yet, have you?” Huang Shanshan asked.
Ye Xing looked at Qi Guang and then replied, “No, we’re going to eat first.”
“Don’t go to the train station, Qi Jingsheng just sent people there,” she said in a low voice.
The two of them looked at each other in the car, what a close call! If Qi Guang hadn’t suggested eating out, they would probably be sitting ducks at the train station now.
“Okay…” Ye Xing’s voice became a little nervous.
“Where are you eating? I’ll skip my tutoring class this afternoon and find you,” Huang Shanshan said, “There’s something I need to tell Qi Guang face-to-face.”
Ye Xing didn’t answer immediately. He was waiting for Qi Guang to react.
“I’ll send you the address,” Qi Guang said. Then he opened WeChat, dragged her out of the blacklist, and sent her an address.
After hanging up the phone, the two of them didn’t speak. This escape game was not fun at all.
The excitement had completely worn off, and the air was filled with tension and pressure.
Qi Guang looked out the window at the tall buildings disappearing behind them, looking at this place where he had lived, his half-hometown, but he didn’t feel any attachment.
The wide and flat bridge, the densely packed buildings, the orderly vehicles, even the men, women, and children on the street were more sophisticated than those in Chen Town.
So what if it was a big city? It was just a superficial cover-up of materialism.
His gaze swept over everything, and everything in his eyes seemed to wither.
During the years he lived here, thanks to his rich father, Qi Guang had gotten used to all the faces chasing fame and wealth, and Liu Yulin was undoubtedly his most hated kind.
Even though she was beautiful, and her daughter had inherited her proud appearance, Qi Guang only felt disgusted when he saw their faces. He hadn’t even learned to appreciate a girl’s beauty before he was pre-occupied with a lot of negative adjectives. Later, in Chen Town, he had seen many beautiful girls in their prime, and felt their simple and kind hearts, but he didn’t have any of the butterflies that most boys have.
Of course, maybe it was because he was already bored with the most beautiful Shuai Xiaoyun.
