TSIBAMS Chapter 43
by VolareChapter 43
After Ye Xing arrived at the address, he suddenly felt like he was trespassing into someone else’s forbidden territory. Only after the security guard asked for his ID and he filled out a visitor form was he finally allowed to enter.
The landscaping of the community was very nice. The trees next to the low-rise buildings at the entrance had grown to the fourth floor. Further inside were townhouses. In addition to the community’s landscaping, the flowers and plants in the private gardens were also very eye-catching. Ye Xing followed the simple map drawn by Huang Shanshan and soon reached the area of detached villas.
After finding the corresponding house number, he walked around the villa, observing the surrounding facilities and the exits. Then, he opened his contacts and called Huang Shanshan. “Hey, I’m here.”
“It’s not convenient for me to come down right now, Uncle Qi is still in the living room,” Huang Shanshan said softly.
“Who else is at your house?” Ye Xing asked.
“The driver took my mom to the hospital, Uncle Qi is at home looking after Qi Guang, he probably won’t leave for the next few days, and the nanny is in the kitchen making lunch,” Huang Shanshan answered truthfully.
“Is Qi Guang locked in his room? What about meals?”
“Yes, he’s usually locked in his room, and they only open the door to bring him food at meal times. The main door is also locked, so even if he managed to run out of his room during meal delivery, he wouldn’t be able to get out of the main door.”
It really felt like a scene from a drama where a young master is under house arrest. Ye Xing didn’t know how many times he had walked around the villa. When he reached the garage door, he looked at the closed door and asked, “Your family probably has more than one car, right?”
“Yes, more than one,” Huang Shanshan said.
Ye Xing smiled, “Send me Qi Jingsheng’s phone number later.”
He continued to circle the villa and stopped outside the private garden. The garden wasn’t very large, but it wasn’t small either. Besides a swing, there were many flowers he didn’t recognize, and even cherry trees. However, the cherries didn’t seem ripe yet, and birds had already gotten to quite a few of them.
He held onto the fence with one hand and asked, “Is Qi Guang’s room on the garage door side or the garden side?”
“The garden side, third floor.”
“Okay, I’ll call you later.”
Ye Xing hung up the phone and counted to the third floor from the bottom. The only room with a balcony in that direction was an open European-style balcony without glass windows. If it were on the second floor, he could climb down without fear of falling, but the third floor…
He looked at the height and shook his head.
If Qi Guang fell from the third floor and he tried to catch him, they’d probably be celebrating their successful rescue in the same hospital room.
He picked up a small stone and threw it towards the third-floor balcony.
The stone disappeared without a trace, and no one came out.
Undeterred, he threw two more stones.
Finally, Qi Guang’s head popped out. Even from two floors away, Ye Xing could see how bad his complexion was. When he saw that the person downstairs was Ye Xing, he was immediately stunned. “Damn!”
There was even a hint of delight.
Ye Xing made a shushing gesture. His rescue plan was only in its initial stages and not yet set, he didn’t want to alert anyone. Even so, he still wanted to see Qi Guang first.
To reassure Qi Guang.
And to reassure himself even more.
He had thought a lot on the way here and was no longer dwelling on his worries about Qi Guang that went beyond normal friendship. All he knew was that he had to see him now, at this moment, so he could do what he had to do next with peace of mind.
He smiled at Qi Guang. The young master, locked in his room, looked like a princess waiting to be rescued, and he was about to be her knight, it felt great.
But, right now, especially this scene on the balcony, was more like Romeo and Juliet.
Thinking of this, he laughed even more unrestrainedly.
Qi Guang didn’t know what he was laughing about, but he felt much more relaxed the moment he saw Ye Xing, and he smiled too.
Ye Xing took out his phone and called Huang Shanshan. “Can you talk to Qi Guang?”
“I can’t talk through the door, I’m afraid Uncle Qi will hear,” Huang Shanshan said.
“Then write a note. Get some paper and a pen and go to Qi Guang’s door right now. Write down what I say.” Ye Xing kept looking at Qi Guang, then pointed inside to signal him to go in, and then said to the phone, “If you can’t talk, just listen to me.”
Qi Guang didn’t know who Ye Xing was talking to. Puzzled, he followed Ye Xing’s hand gestures and went back into the room. He just happened to see a piece of paper being slipped under the door. He squatted down, picked it up, and read it.
[I’m helping Brother Ye relay his words.]
He was even more confused. The faces of everyone in the house flashed through his mind, even the driver was considered. He picked up a pen and wrote below the line –
[Who are you?]
Then he slipped it back out.
Several minutes passed before the paper was pushed back in. The question was not immediately answered. Instead, a bunch of words were written.
[When lunch is delivered later, tell the nanny not to open the door, say you’re taking a shower. I’ll have your sister give you a signal, and only then let the nanny in. When the door opens, run straight out towards the underground garage.]
[The signal will be the sound of piano music.]
[You can pack your things now (if you have any).]
[Don’t forget your school bag on the sofa.]
Why was Huang Shanshan helping him? How did she contact Ye Xing?
Qi Guang thought that the experiences of the last two days were a bit magical and full of surprises, but now he was mostly excited. His excitement didn’t give him the time to think more. He folded the paper, put it in his pocket, and waited quietly for the sound of the piano.
After about forty minutes, Huang Shanshan finally heard the nanny’s footsteps as she brought the dishes out of the kitchen, and the clear sound of cutlery clinking. She took out her phone to send a message to Ye Xing.
-Lunch is almost ready.
Ye Xing called her directly, “You said your mother went to the hospital just now, which hospital is it? And… your mother’s name.”
“What do you want to do?” Huang Shanshan’s voice was a little timid.
“Don’t worry, I just need to know which hospital it is and your mother’s name, I won’t do anything to hurt her.”
She hesitated for a few seconds, and answered, “Furong Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Liu Yulin.”
Maternal and Child Health Hospital? Heh, looks like Qi Guang is getting another brother or sister.
“Is lunch being sent up yet?” Ye Xing asked.
Huang Shanshan pressed her ear to the door, lowering her voice, “I hear footsteps going up the stairs.”
“Okay, as soon as Qi Jingsheng leaves, go sit at the piano.”
Ye Xing hung up the phone, opened the chat with Huang Shanshan, found the number of Qi Jingsheng she had sent him, and called. He was a little nervous, and his palms were a little sweaty, but as long as he kept his voice from shaking, it wouldn’t be a problem.
He had never been nervous being called on by the teacher to answer questions from childhood, even though he couldn’t answer at least eight or nine times out of ten.
Now, he was just acting.
The phone didn’t ring for long before being answered. Ye Xing pinched his throat to stay calm, “Hello, is this Mr. Qi?”
“Hello, who is this?” A deep male voice came from the other end of the phone.
I’m here to steal your son!
Ye Xing continued to act calmly, “I’m an intern at Furong Maternal and Child Health Hospital. My director asked me to call you.”
“Is something wrong with Yulin?” The other person’s voice was clearly anxious.
“Yes, something happened, and it’s not minor,” Ye Xing said seriously, making up stories. “But our director thinks it’s best to talk to the family first, so she hasn’t told her yet. Do you have time to come over now?”
The air was silent for a few seconds.
Probably because he had to look after Qi Guang at home, he seemed a little hesitant, “Does it have to be now?”
Then, it seemed that Qi Guang was more important, or his wife’s baby was more important.
Ye Xing really wanted to laugh, he could only pinch his throat tightly so as not to give himself away.
“Yes, as soon as possible, our director will be off work soon. Her next shift will be next week.” He deliberately sounded urgent, for fear that the other party would hesitate and his plan would fail. “If it’s next week, some problems might be uncontrollable!”
Ye Xing didn’t understand what specific tests a pregnant woman would have at the maternal and child health hospital, or what uncontrollable problems there might be. He wanted to force Qi Jingsheng to make a decision quickly, but he was afraid of saying too much, so he didn’t dare to continue making things up.
However, also being a man, it seemed Qi Jingsheng didn’t understand much either. He made a decision without much thinking, “Okay, I can be there within twenty minutes, tell me the consultation room number.”
You scum!
Ye Xing curled the corner of his mouth.
He took his hand off his neck and took a deep breath, “Just tell them your name at the front desk when you arrive, and a staff member will take you over.”
“Okay, thank you!” Qi Jingsheng hung up the phone in a hurry.
“You’re welcome.”
Ye Xing hung up the phone, satisfied. He guarded the garage door and listened quietly.
From the sound, Qi Jingsheng was in the garage. Huang Shanshan went downstairs to the living room and glanced at Qi Guang’s door. As expected, the nanny was waiting at the door, ready to deliver the food to the young master after he finished his shower.
Although she hated Qi Jingsheng very much, she had never clashed with him, living under his roof. This was the first time she was disobeying Qi Jingsheng and doing something this exciting. She couldn’t hide her excitement.
She opened the living room cabinet, took out Qi Guang’s phone, and put it in his schoolbag on the sofa. Then she opened the piano lid and sat down at the piano. She flipped through the music scores, and finally stopped at “Romeo and Juliet”. It was the first complete piece she had learned, and she hadn’t played it for a long time.
This one it is!
Ye Xing cocked his ear outside the door. Before long, he heard the sound of a car unlocking. He hurriedly took out his phone and sent Huang Shanshan an OK emoji.
Assuming it took five seconds for Qi Guang to get the nanny to deliver the food and run out of his room, and ten seconds to run from the third floor to the garage, those fifteen seconds should be enough time for Qi Jingsheng to start the car.
If he didn’t sit in the car and think about life for a while after getting in.
No way! Ye Xing shook his head, the worry and urgency in his voice didn’t sound like it was acted out.
The piano music for “Romeo and Juliet” started as scheduled. Qi Guang tapped on the door twice, “Come in.”
The nanny was holding the food in one hand and took out the key with the other, moving as nimbly as a waiter serving dishes. She put the key in the lock and turned it several times.
Qi Guang opened the door and smiled, kindly reminding her, as he looked at the precarious food in her hand, “Be careful.”
“Thank you for the reminder, young master.” The kind nanny put the key back in her pocket, freed up her hand, and was about to take over the other overstressed one…
Qi Guang gently turned to the side, easily slipping out through the gap between the nanny and the door, then sprinted downstairs with all his strength.
