    Chapter 17

The girl with glasses hadn’t been to school for several days.

Qi Guang knew this because for the past few days, Shuai Xiaoyun had been bringing him breakfast.

It was still bread and milk.

“Sis, next time I’ll get it myself. You’re a senior in high school, working so hard to bring me breakfast every day, I really can’t bear it,” Qi Guang said, putting the breakfast in his drawer.

“Good that you have some conscience. Come get it yourself tomorrow,” Shuai Xiaoyun tapped Qi Guang’s head, turning to leave.

As she turned, she saw Lu Yueyang smoking behind her. The person in front of her had a cigarette between the fingers of her right hand, her arm resting on the railing, left hand in her pocket, her long legs crossed.

If Shuai Xiaoyun hadn’t seen her face, she would have definitely thought she was a boy.

    Very cool.

Shuai Xiaoyun retreated and quietly asked Qi Guang, “Who’s that at the door? Your class actually has such a cool classmate.”

Qi Guang turned his head to glance and lowered his voice, “Did you see her wearing a school uniform? A classmate? She’s our class’s English teacher, it’s her morning reading class today.”

Shuai Xiaoyun was so surprised her eyes almost popped out.

She couldn’t help but look at this English teacher again.

This was the least teacher-like teacher she had ever seen, with the aura of a delinquent youth surrounding her.

Lu Yueyang finished her cigarette and turned to look for a trash can, running straight into Shuai Xiaoyun’s undisguised gaze.

In this very awkward moment, Lu Yueyang politely returned a smile.

Shuai Xiaoyun ran away as fast as she could.

Seeing her leave, Qi Guang quickly took the bread and milk out of his drawer and put it on Zhou Tian’s desk, then swapped Zhou Tian’s steamed bun and soy milk for it.

Every morning self-study time, they were either punished standing in the corridor to eat breakfast in the open, or secretly eating breakfast in the classroom. Today they were lucky, it was the latter. Zhou Tian looked at Qi Guang with disgust, “I’ve been smelling your steamed bun smell for almost a month now, can you change it next time?”

“Oh, you want something more high-end like bread?” Qi Guang said, taking another bite of the bun.

“That’s right! It’s delivered by Ye Xing himself.” Zhou Tian said triumphantly.

“Pfft!” Qi Guang held back a laugh.

So sorry, you haven’t had a single bite of the breakfast your Ye Xing brought.

“You seem very familiar with your Ye Xing?” Qi Guang asked.

Zhou Tian secretly took a sip of milk, “He’s my neighbor, and he got to know me first when he came here. It’s like you guys aren’t familiar, didn’t you two stay up all night playing games before?! Damn, didn’t include me!”

    Saying that, Zhou Tian snorted.

    “What??” Qi Guang looked confused.

This kid was embarrassed to say that he got drunk at someone’s house because he couldn’t hold his liquor, so he made up a reason about staying up all night playing games?

    What a lame excuse.

Zhou Tian was completely focused on eating his bread, not noticing Qi Guang’s odd expression.

Qi Guang consoled him, “Of course, I’m not as close to him as you are, otherwise, he wouldn’t bring you breakfast and not me, right?”

“That’s for sure, but you’re my good friend too, I’ll treat everyone fairly! Hehe.”

Looking at Zhou Tian’s immediate change of expression, Qi Guang thought to himself, he’s really easy to coax.

“He’s so good-looking, he must have dated a lot of people…” Thinking of the unclear, unfinished conversation from that night, Qi Guang tried very hard to casually insert this awkward topic.

“It doesn’t seem like he’s dated anyone, I talked to him about my previous online relationships, and later asked if he ever had a girlfriend, he said he never had, I was pretty shocked. But, you haven’t had a girlfriend either, right? Why is it that you good-looking guys don’t have girlfriends, such a waste of national resources!” Zhou Tian said, sighing with great heartache.

    Never had a girlfriend?

Then what if he dated a boyfriend?

The next day, Shuai Xiaoyun still personally brought breakfast.

“Didn’t I say I’d go get it myself?” Qi Guang put the bread and milk in his drawer.

“It’s fine, I’m free anyway, the art exam is over, and my academic grades won’t get any better no matter how much I struggle,” Shuai Xiaoyun said, looking around the classroom.

Shuai Xiaoyun’s grades had always been mediocre, but her family’s restaurant was doing well, so she didn’t have much pressure. Her dad even asked if she wanted to go abroad, but Shuai Xiaoyun didn’t have much interest in going overseas, so she refused.

After all, she wanted to take things one step at a time, and she only wanted to go to a college in a big city to experience life there. As for going abroad, she could consider it after graduation if she still didn’t want to work.

She had liked singing since she was little, and had also learned a variety of instruments, so she decided to take the art route. She went to the city for half a year of music training some time ago, and the results were good. Coupled with her talent, she got a good score.

So, she was now a free person, even the class teacher didn’t care much about her. After all, in the teacher’s eyes, as long as the art exam was passed, she was already halfway to university.

“Looking for someone?” Qi Guang asked, seeing Shuai Xiaoyun looking around. “Oh, you even put on makeup today.”

Shuai Xiaoyun seemed not to hear Qi Guang’s question and asked, “What’s your morning reading class today?”

“Chinese, the teacher will be here soon. What? If you want to crash the class, I’ll get you a stool, I think the one behind me is quite suitable,” Qi Guang said, getting up, pretending to get her a stool.

“Thanks! I’ll consider it when you have English morning reading!” Shuai Xiaoyun turned to leave.

Only then did Qi Guang understand that Shuai Xiaoyun was looking for Lu Yueyang.

This wasn’t strange, anyone who knew she was a teacher would not help but take a few more glances. After all, in the high school teacher ranks in Chen Town High School, full of old fogeys and nagging old women, seeing Lu Yueyang’s type was a sight to behold.

“She’s the class teacher of the class next door, their morning reading is today,” Qi Guang reminded her.

Shuai Xiaoyun left contentedly, adding before she left, “Just putting on lipstick doesn’t count as makeup, you straight guy!”

Passing by Class 18, he secretly glanced inside. Lu Yueyang was writing on the blackboard, her back straight, and the whole person was just tall and thin, so thin that her chest wasn’t obvious.

Unlike other teachers, she was dressed in a refreshing manner, a T-shirt and shirt, with her jeans tucked into her boots, revealing her slender ankles.

She was really full of youthfulness, Shuai Xiaoyun could only think of this description at this moment.

1984 was about to open, and Qi Guang began to frequently skip class and run to the shop, even though Xu Ge kept telling him that he only needed help after class.

“I can’t sit still in the classroom anyway, just coming over to get some air,” Qi Guang explained.

Xu Ge didn’t believe him at all, “I heard you got into Chen Town High School as the top student.”

“It’s not just me who can’t keep up the pace from middle school to high school,” Qi Guang said nonchalantly.

“Qi Guang, you must go to university, don’t even think about just messing around here after you graduate,” Xu Ge stopped his work and said seriously.

Qi Guang nodded, a shallow self-deprecating smile appearing on his face.

Since he started living alone here, no one had cared about how well he did in his studies, and no one had said things like “You must go to university.”

Of course, except for the class teacher, Lao Lin.

It should be Lao Lin when he just started high school.

At that time, Qi Guang, who had not yet recovered from the heavy blow of losing his loved ones, had no intention of studying. Lao Lin’s special attention only made him irritable, and thinking that the so-called special attention was not because of him as a person, but because of his grades…

For these reasons, Qi Guang became even more disgusted.

Finally, after Qi Guang freely came and went for a week, Lao Lin succeeded in persuading the grade director on his 57th trip between his and the grade director’s office to transfer Qi Guang out of the key class.

“Qi Guang, do you know?! When the class monitor went to the grade office to get materials, he heard Lao Lin talking about you to Director Lu at the door,” Zhou Tian looked at him worriedly.

“What did they say about me?” Qi Guang asked.

“You might be transferred to another class…” Zhou Tian looked worried, as if he was the one about to be transferred.

Qi Guang felt relieved, “It’s okay, dad won’t forget you.”

Zhou Tian was quite sad, but not wanting to miss an opportunity, he continued, “Hey, when you leave, I’ll naturally become the last in class.”

“Then I can only congratulate you in advance,” Qi Guang smiled.

“Why don’t you look sad at all?” Zhou Tian said.

“Why should I be sad? Are we separating for life or death? Maybe I’ll be first in my new class, wouldn’t that be great!” Qi Guang said with a smile, “By the way, did they say which class I’m going to?”

“The class monitor said that Lu Yueyang was also in the office at the time. After Lao Lin finished listing all your ‘crimes,’ she spoke up leisurely and said, ‘I think this kid has potential, I’ll take him away.'”

“Huh?” Qi Guang opened his mouth in surprise.

“Wait until I finish before you open your mouth! I don’t know what Lu Yueyang is thinking, she actually agreed with Lao Lin to swap the top student from Class 19 for someone from our class, and then transfer you over there. This is simply an unfair treaty! Look at you, you seem like you’re worth something.”

Qi Guang had no mood to argue with Zhou Tian, his mind was full of disbelief, “Wait, who’s the top student in their class? Does he even know?”

“Doesn’t matter who it is, who in the whole grade doesn’t want to get into our class? Anyway, he has to thank you, and their magical class teacher. It’s said that the class monitor saw Director Lu’s face turn green after he went in.”

    That’s freaking magical.

Lu Yueyang was really a strange person.

Qi Guang didn’t know why Lu Yueyang would take this risk. After all, top students were resources that all teachers fought for. The university admission rate of the class they taught was not just about bonuses, but also the honor of their career.

It seemed like she didn’t care at all.

Or, was the sentence she said, “I think this kid has potential,” serious?

Qi Guang didn’t want to get hung up on it anymore. The good thing was that Lao Lin had finally completely gotten rid of this thorn in his side, and he finally didn’t have to skip class to cooperate with him anymore. It was a near-perfect ending for both of them.

After all, he didn’t love skipping class that much, but he just couldn’t act like a good student who worked hard in front of Lao Lin, it was awkward. Maybe the last bit of his adolescent rebellion was left with Lao Lin.

In short, the days of mutual dislike with Lao Lin were finally over!
