    Chapter 13

“You should take her back first.” Qi Guang, who hadn’t spoken all this time, finally opened his mouth, speaking to Shuai Xiaoyun.

Shuai Xiaoyun looked at Qi Guang’s undeniable expression, and swallowed back what she wanted to say.

    “Okay.”

The whole way, Shuai Xiaoyun felt a knot in her chest. Finally, she couldn’t help but send a message to Qi Guang.

-Are you just letting that scum go like that?

    Qi Guang replied quickly.

    -I’m checking the surveillance now.

I knew my bro wasn’t a coward, Shuai Xiaoyun smiled with relief.

-Remember not to alarm too many people.

-Got it, this happened at Brother Xu’s place, I’m responsible.

Shuai Xiaoyun glanced at the girl beside her, who had already fallen asleep, she didn’t know if it was from crying too much or from excessive fright, her breathing was uneven.

Suddenly, she seemed to remember something else and replied to Qi Guang.

-I’ll take her back, then come find you and take you to treat your wounds.

-No need, it’s nothing serious, just go straight home.

-Really? I see your face is swollen.

-It’s swollen, it’ll be the same if you come, I’ll just go back and apply a compress myself.

“Let’s call it a night.” Qi Guang sat down in front of the computer in the surveillance room.

“No, we’re brothers and we share our troubles!” Zhou Tian followed Qi Guang closely, with Ye Xing following a little less closely next to him.

But Ye Xing didn’t say anything.

Of course, since the two of them finished their childish fight, Qi Guang hadn’t said a word to Ye Xing either. After all, being beaten for so long, being ignored was already the lightest response.

When it came down to it, it was hard to say who was at fault.

    But he was just pissed.

    Especially pissed.

If Ye Xing said a word to Qi Guang, Qi Guang would definitely tell him to get lost.

But Ye Xing didn’t say anything, making it impossible for Qi Guang to express his displeasure.

Not only did he not speak, but he also stuck to him like a piece of gum.

This made Qi Guang even more irritable.

This irritability lasted for ten minutes. The pervert hadn’t entered the restroom yet, and behind him, Zhou Tian, who kept grabbing Ye Xing and asking questions, was still chattering away.

Someone had to bear the brunt of this unwarranted disaster, and Zhou Tian became the most obvious target.

Qi Guang suddenly snapped, “Zhou Tian, can you stop being such a drama queen!”

“Huh?” Zhou Tian was stunned by the scolding.

“You keep yapping! Can you just shut up for a bit!”

“Okay.” Zhou Tian didn’t dare to say more. He had already noticed that these two were off, one seemed about to explode at any moment, and the other was as silent as gold.

    Something was very wrong.

Qi Guang spoke again. He still didn’t turn around, but it was obvious he was speaking to Ye Xing, “Your clothes are soaked, why don’t you go home.”

Ye Xing replied blandly, “I want to see which bastard it was, so I can avoid him in the future.”

“Are you a little girl?” Qi Guang finally couldn’t help but turn around, looking at Ye Xing with a look of someone who saw a lunatic.

“I’m not, but he is.” Ye Xing glanced at Zhou Tian.

Zhou Tian was even more confused by their antics, “What little girl? I’m a grown man!”

“With your thin arms and legs, and fair skin, you’re not far off from a little girl.” Ye Xing said, seeing that Zhou Tian was about to protest, he quickly added before he could speak, “But don’t worry, your Bro Ye has your back.”

Zhou Tian sighed resentfully, the person in front of him, he couldn’t beat or argue with, might as well shut up.

At this moment, a person appeared on the computer screen, staggering drunkenly towards the bathroom. Zhou Tian quickly shouted, “Look, someone!”

Qi Guang turned his head back, and all three of them focused on the computer.

The camera was installed at the entrance of the bathroom, you had to enter this door first before dividing into men’s and women’s. After the man entered, the camera could not capture any more information, meaning that it was impossible to know if he entered the men’s or women’s restroom.

A little while later, the girl with glasses also went into the bathroom.

The next scene was the girl with glasses running out with disheveled clothes and bumping into Qi Guang.

Without saying a word, Qi Guang went into the bathroom, and not long after, the man stumbled out and ran away.

“I can prove that he went into the women’s restroom, I was in the men’s the whole time, alone,” Ye Xing said.

Zhou Tian finally understood what had happened.

However, the expression of enlightenment did not stay on his face for long, soon turning into anger at the pervert, “That guy is shameless, I was in the next room, damn it, why didn’t I get to catch him!”

Qi Guang looked at Ye Xing and said, “I don’t need your proof.”

“Why? Are you really not calling the cops?” Ye Xing was a bit agitated, thinking of the girl with glasses’ previous humble demeanor.

Qi Guang smiled contemptuously, “Only you city kids are so dependent on…”

Ye Xing knew what Qi Guang was going to say, and immediately interrupted him, his tone even stronger, “Is letting these scumbags go what you country folks do?!”

Unexpectedly, he had unintentionally angered Ye Xing, and Qi Guang felt a strange sense of balance in his heart.

He turned back and rewound the surveillance footage, stopping at the moment the man appeared. The screen clearly showed him wearing tight jeans and a baggy blue t-shirt. His hair was neatly black, making it hard to identify him, but luckily, the tattoo on his arm vaguely looked like a skull.

Qi Guang took a screenshot and then spoke, as if replying to Ye Xing, and also as if talking to himself.

“Of course, I won’t let him go, I’ll deal with it.”

Zhou Tian immediately chimed in, “Yeah, yeah, we can’t let him go, I’m going to beat his head in, how dare he bully our senior!”

“You–” Ye Xing made a gesture to Zhou Tian to zip his lips, “It’d be a miracle if you didn’t gossip about it everywhere.”

Qi Guang nodded in agreement, “That’s right, classmate Zhou, if anyone else at our school finds out, I’ll beat your head in first.”

“Hey! You two! Although I love to gossip, I know my limits, okay?” Zhou Tian was very aggrieved.

Qi Guang stood up and patted his pants, “Let’s go!”

    “Go where?” Zhou Tian asked.

“Home.” Qi Guang walked towards the door.

“Hey, hey! Aren’t we going to sing a couple of songs before we leave?”

Qi Guang turned around, giving Zhou Tian a stiff smile. His left cheek was even more swollen, looking fake and creepy, “What do you think?”

Seeing Qi Guang like this, Zhou Tian didn’t dare to try to keep him, muttering softly, “You even said you’d dominate the whole venue, everyone wanted to hear you sing…”

Ye Xing also said goodbye to Zhou Tian, “I’m leaving too.”

Zhou Tian looked at Ye Xing, besides the red marks on his neck, he didn’t look much better than Qi Guang. He replied helplessly, “Okay, okay, go, next time I’ll definitely drag you all here.”

As they were about to reach the door, a familiar voice came from behind, “Qi Guang?”

Ye Xing turned his head, it was the guy they had seen at the front desk earlier, but Qi Guang obviously didn’t want to bother with anyone at the moment. He hesitated for a moment before stopping.

He turned his head back and said, “Brother Bai.”

Bai? Ye Xing thought, it suited his skin tone.

The person called Brother Bai frowned, walking up to Qi Guang, “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Qi Guang glanced at Ye Xing, whose neck was still red, and didn’t say anything else.

Brother Bai followed his gaze at Ye Xing and understood.

“You should go back and take care of yourself, I’ll watch things here.”

“Thanks, I’m heading out now.” Qi Guang nodded at Brother Bai, and walked towards the door.

Ye Xing followed behind him, he had been trying to find a chance to apologize to Qi Guang, but he was also embarrassed to speak up. And given Qi Guang’s current state, it was likely that he wouldn’t give him a chance.

When they reached the door, Ye Xing pretended to start a casual conversation, “That guy’s last name is Bai, he really is fair-skinned.”

Qi Guang didn’t make a sound or turn his head, and continued walking forward.

“No, I’m sorry, okay? I know I was too impulsive, and I was too heavy-handed just now.” Ye Xing quickly walked in front of Qi Guang, stopping him.

Qi Guang stopped, “Your last name is Ye, but I don’t see any green on you.”

Ye Xing had prepared himself to be scolded by Qi Guang, even to be beaten, but he never expected him to say this. He almost couldn’t hold back his laughter. To avoid being thrown off balance, he continued, “But, either way, you made the first move, so what I did was within reason.”

“Within reason? Then I should apologize to you, right? Fine, classmate Ye, I’m sorry!” Qi Guang’s face was expressionless.

“Okay, okay! Hold on! Can we not act like little kids fighting then act like little kids arguing?! I’m apologizing, just listen properly!” Ye Xing was both amused and annoyed.

Qi Guang looked at Ye Xing, signaling that he was listening intently.

Ye Xing stopped, swallowed, and continued, “I’m starting now—I’m sorry, although you kicked me first, you were being righteous, you’re a gentleman; my counterattack later, although I’m not a bad person either, I didn’t understand the situation, and I was too harsh, I’m guilty, I’m willing to bear your medical expenses, your mental distress costs, and…”

“Pfft!” Qi Guang was amused by his long apology and couldn’t help but interrupt, “So, are you now using a childish self-criticism as a summary?”

“What the hell?” Ye Xing frowned, “Are you pretending? You weren’t mad!”

The Qi Guang opposite him was laughing so hard he couldn’t stand up straight, “Hahahahahaha!”

    Ye Xing followed, laughing helplessly.

Qi Guang only stopped when he had no strength left, “Let’s go, I’ll give you a ride.”

He walked to the motorcycle at the door.

    “Yours?” Ye Xing asked.

    “Yeah.”

Ye Xing recognized the motorcycle, after all, the first time he met Shuai Xiaoyun, she was riding this motorcycle and had caught everyone’s attention on the entire street, it was hard not to remember it.

He didn’t expect it to be Qi Guang’s.

Ye Xing shook his head, stopping himself from continuing to gossip in his head.

    “Where to?” Ye Xing asked.

“Where’s your house? I’ll take you back first.” Qi Guang took out a helmet and gave it to Ye Xing.

It was Ye Xing’s first time wearing this thing, he was very curious. Fang Rong didn’t let him ride motorcycles before, thinking it was too dangerous, so he never had a chance to experience it.

Ye Xing said, “Take you to the hospital first.”

“It’s just a small injury, my first aid kit at home is enough.” Qi Guang straddled the bike, deliberately using a disdainful tone and continuing, “Do you city-bred young masters have to go to the hospital to check if you’ve got a fracture after a fall? Or should I accompany you to the hospital?”

“You mother…” Ye Xing was speechless.

“Get on, young master!” Qi Guang looked at Ye Xing and patted the seat behind him.

Ye Xing rolled his eyes and sat down.

Qi Guang started the motorcycle, and Ye Xing realized that Qi Guang was not wearing a helmet, and asked, “Where’s your helmet?”

    “On young master’s head.”

“Shut up! Don’t you have more than one helmet?”

“I only have one head, why would I need so many helmets?”

    That made sense, somewhat.

    But, what about Shuai Xiaoyun?

Ye Xing stopped his thoughts as soon as he thought of that name.

    Don’t be curious!

The nights in Chen Town were much quieter than the day. The small shops on the street closed early, and only some late-night snacks stalls remained. Occasionally, the sounds of people playing drinking games and drinking could be heard.

When they got to the river, which was some distance away from both the commercial and residential areas, Qi Guang started to speed up. Ye Xing held Qi Guang tightly from behind. Maybe because he was wearing a helmet, or maybe because someone was in front of him, Ye Xing unexpectedly felt a hidden sense of excitement, and wasn’t afraid at all.

The wind whistled past his ears, he felt dizzy from the speed, and he especially wanted to talk loudly.

    He blurted out, “Idiot!”

Qi Guang was a bit dumbfounded by the sudden, unfounded insult, “Mess with me again and I’ll throw you off.”

“Were you really angry or pretending to be angry earlier? You played the dog so well!” Ye Xing said angrily.

After slowing down, Qi Guang replied, “I was indeed quite reluctant to talk to you at first, and then when we didn’t say anything, I didn’t really care anymore. But then you came over to apologize, which reminded me of what happened, and I thought, well, I should be angry.”

Ye Xing looked at Qi Guang through his helmet, with an incredulous gaze.

He hesitated for a moment, but couldn’t help himself, then said, “I can’t tell, you have a little princess living inside you?! How can your girlfriend stand you acting up like this?”

“Girl…girlfriend?” Qi Guang almost lost his grip on the handlebars.
