Chapter 21: Misunderstanding

Just then, Mu Chuang’s car pulled in from outside.

Lin Xi quickly returned to the room, not having the courage to watch them get out of the car, nor daring to imagine their intimate appearance after having “relations.”

He was afraid he wouldn’t be able to handle it and would jump straight down from the building.

He quickly got into bed, habitually sleeping on the side closest to the wall, hiding himself in the blanket, completely covered up.

However, the scene of the two getting out of the car downstairs was not what he had imagined –

They said goodnight to each other as usual and returned to their own residences.

The sound of Mu Chuang’s footsteps as he went upstairs clearly reached Lin Xi’s ears, making him both jealous and still harboring a glimmer of hope.

He listened to his footsteps getting closer, then reaching the door, opening it, and putting something on the sofa, probably the clothes he changed out of.

Immediately afterward, there was the sound of washing up, probably because he felt sticky all over after “exercising,” forcing him to clean himself.

Lin Xi hid in the blanket, letting his thoughts run wild, a breath stuck in his chest, neither rising nor falling, almost suffocating him.

Half an hour later, Mu Chuang finished washing up, put on a loose set of pajamas, and got into bed.

He glanced at Lin Xi, who was hiding in the blanket with his head completely covered, and suddenly felt a little angry.

“I told you last time not to sleep like this. It’s not good for your health if you can’t breathe fresh air.” He pulled back the blanket, dragged the person out of it, and continued to scold, “You’re so old, why don’t you listen?”

Lin Xi felt wronged, ignored him, and didn’t say a word, not even willing to open his eyes, continuing to pretend to sleep.

“Sleeping so soundly?” Mu Chuang wondered, removing the hand covering his head to look at his expression, “I don’t believe such a big movement didn’t wake you up. What are you pretending for? Are you blaming me for not taking you out?”

“No.” Lin Xi finally replied, opening a slit in his eyes, looking a little drowsy, “I’m sleepy.”

Mu Chuang was silent for a moment, “Alright, you sleep, but don’t do this next time, understand?”

“Yeah.” Lin Xi gently agreed, then closed his eyes and continued to pretend to sleep.

Mu Chuang tucked him in, leaving his head outside the blanket, and then lay down himself.

But soon he noticed something was wrong.

“Didn’t you just lie down? How can you be sleeping so soundly that you don’t even answer when I call you?” He felt that the inside of the blanket was cold, not at all like someone who had been sleeping for a while, “Honestly confess, are you angry with me? Are you blaming me for not taking you out?”

    Lin Xi didn’t say anything.

Mu Chuang continued to ask, “Tomorrow is Sunday, the factory is off, I’ll take you out to play to your heart’s content, okay?”

Lin Xi still didn’t say anything.

His mind was completely occupied with the scene of him with that woman, and he had no mood to listen to him say any of this.

Seeing his attitude, Mu Chuang suddenly became angry.

“Get up, stop sleeping.” He grabbed the person up, but didn’t really make him get out of bed, but instead pulled him into his arms, his rebuke laced with intimidation, “Your temper is getting bigger and bigger, it seems like you really need a beating.”

Immediately afterward, there was a loud “smash”” sound, and a heavy slap landed on Lin Xi’s butt. Before he could react, there were two more slaps, directly stunning Lin Xi.

“What are you doing?!” After a long while, he knew to resist, pinching the offending hand and saying, on the verge of tears, “Why are you hitting my butt? I’m not a three-year-old.”

“You’re not a three-year-old, but you are a kid who’s three years younger than me. You deserve to be beaten if you don’t listen.” Mu Chuang retorted cleverly, using a parental tone again, “Do you still admit that I’m your brother? If you do, then be good and don’t throw a temper tantrum with me, otherwise, that door is always open, you can go wherever you want.”

He pointed to the door leading into the room, looking fierce, but in reality, he didn’t really mean to kick him out at all.

But Lin Xi felt wronged, completely unable to tell whether his words were true or false, only assuming that the other party disliked him now that he had a woman, thinking he was taking someone else’s place.

After all, the two of them had to go out to do anything, and he was indeed getting in their way.

“Go out, then I’ll go out.” Lin Xi suddenly got up, breaking free from the arm around him, “I’ll go sleep in the employee dormitory tomorrow. I won’t be here bothering you anymore.”

This last sentence directly confused Mu Chuang. He grabbed back Lin Xi, who was about to storm out, “Explain yourself to me, what am I interfering with? When did I say you were in the way? You’re not allowed to leave until you explain clearly, and even if you explain clearly, you’re still not allowed to leave.”

He was just so assertive. In his mind, this kind of disobedient younger brother should be taught a lesson.

Lin Xi was grabbed by him and couldn’t get out, so he started crying in grievance, tears falling like pearls, his whole body convulsing.

At the thought that the man he had secretly loved for many years had been snatched away by someone else and that there would be no more chances from now on, he couldn’t help but cry.

And the man he had always hidden in his heart was actually being fierce with him, even telling him to leave. The combination of these two reasons made him cry more sadly than ever.

Mu Chuang was directly dumbfounded by him, “Ancestor, forefather, what exactly do I have to do to make you stop crying?”

He directly said a commonly used local phrase, looking at the person who was crying so hard that he couldn’t catch his breath, feeling helpless for the first time.

“I just want to cry. If you don’t want to listen, then let me out.” Lin Xi sobbed, his little mouth still quite stubborn, “Aren’t you just annoyed that I’m bothering you? Bothering you from sleeping with someone else? Otherwise, why would you kick me out?”

    Mu Chuang: “……?”

Did his brain short-circuit? He can’t even tell good words from bad words anymore?

“Did Old Man really let you out?” he retorted, “Can’t you see that I was just scaring you?”

“Besides, why do you say I’m annoyed by you? When have I ever said I wanted to sleep with someone else? Sleep with whom? You explain it clearly to me, who am I going to sleep with? And who have I slept with?!”

Only after speaking did he belatedly realize that he thought he had gone out with Liang Ting to do that thing, and even deliberately didn’t bring him along, and then came back to throw a temper tantrum at him, and happened to say a sentence that let him out, so he thought he was annoyed by him?

Understanding the key, Mu Chuang suddenly felt unwell, feeling that he had accidentally caused him such a big misunderstanding. If he didn’t appease him properly, he might lose this younger brother.

“Okay, okay, you little wretch,” he looked at that tear-blurred little face, and his heart ached to death, “It’s big brother’s fault, big brother shouldn’t have been fierce with you, big brother didn’t really want to kick you out, stop crying, okay?”

“I just want to cry.” Lin Xi was still aggrieved, because he hadn’t figured out the most crucial question, “I’m just sleeping, is that so annoying to you? If you weren’t annoyed by me, why would you be so fierce? And if being fierce wasn’t enough, you even hit me. Is it against the law to cover my head while sleeping?”
