Chapter 40: Mu Chuang Gets Married

Mu Chuang was surprised to hear this. “Why would anyone beat him, and so badly? Is he stupid?”

Despite his annoyance, he still felt indignant for Lin Xi’s father.

“I heard he lost at cards and refused to pay, so they beat him,” Lin Xi said, wishing he could disappear into the ground. He felt ashamed and even resentful of his father’s behavior.

Mu Chuang rolled his eyes and sighed helplessly. “Alright, we’ll go back tomorrow then. Pack your things, and we’ll ask for leave tomorrow morning.”

Lin Xi stood still. He thought Mu Chuang would take him back immediately, but who knew he’d have to wait until tomorrow? He’d be worried to death tonight.

“Can we go back now? Chuang-ge, please!” He looked pitiful, anxious and uneasy.

“No,” Mu Chuang refused. “We haven’t asked for leave yet, how can we go back? Do you think this is your company, that you can come and go as you please?”

When Mu Chuang and Fu Xiaoling finished eating and returned, they found him still asleep and didn’t bother him, continuing their journey.

His task now was to run up and down every day to bring his father food and water, help him go to the toilet and sleep, and watch over his IV drip.

Mu Chuang started preparing for the wedding as soon as he returned. Fu Xiaoling was from the same county, but not the same town. After everything was settled, Mu Chuang picked her up and went to the Civil Affairs Bureau.

First, get the betrothal money, then go through the marriage procedures. This was the basic procedure, then invite friends and relatives to hold a banquet, and the matter was over.

In the local area, the betrothal money was not allowed to exceed 100,000 yuan. Mu Chuang gave 80,000 yuan, plus three gold items and various gifts, totaling more than 100,000 yuan, which was considered generous. Then they waited to hold the banquet.

During this time, Fu Xiaoling came to Mu Chuang’s house once and quickly established good relations with the neighbors. She also secretly said some things about Lin Xi, which made the villagers gasp.

The only explanation was that she was afraid that Lin Xi would affect her relationship with Mu Chuang in the future, so she publicized his scandal first, which would be beneficial to her in the future.

The reason she had this confidence was because she and Mu Chuang had already obtained their marriage certificates, the only thing that was left was sleep together.

Ten days passed in a flash. Lin Xi completed the discharge procedures for his father and took him back to the village.

And this day happened to be the day of Mu Chuang’s wedding.

Early in the morning, the Mu family was in an uproar.
