Chapter 3: Mu Chuang’s Confusing Behavior

“Nothing,” Lin Xi snapped back to reality, quickly making up an excuse, “I’m just a little dizzy…”

“Oh, is that so?” Before he could finish, Mu Chuang took the plush doll from his hands, “Then you go sit in the car first, I’ll take the rest myself.”

Lin Xi was taken aback. He felt bad for not being able to help him with such a small task and wanted to overcome his psychological resistance to help him carry them. However, since he had already made the excuse, going back on his word would only reveal his lie. In the end, he had no choice but to get into the car first, his heart filled with conflicting emotions.

He didn’t know if it was his imagination, but whenever he thought about the girls chasing after Mu Chuang outside, he felt inferior. When he got into the car, he even went straight to the back seat, intentionally avoiding the passenger seat.

Mu Chuang finished moving the dolls from the trunk, then put their luggage in. When he got in the car, he noticed that the passenger seat was empty.

“Xi Xi…?” He called out in confusion, and then heard Lin Xi respond from the back. Turning his head, he saw him huddled in the back seat, his slender body looking lost and dejected.

“What’s wrong with you?” Mu Chuang felt more and more that something was wrong with him. He even hesitated about whether to continue taking him out, afraid that if something happened to him, he wouldn’t be able to bear the responsibility.

“If you don’t want to go, it’s not too late to change your mind now.” He suddenly said this, his voice icy cold, instantly shocking Lin Xi awake.

He couldn’t accept the other’s sudden cold tone. In addition, the hope he held for him made Lin Xi feel a pang of sadness, and he almost couldn’t help but shed tears.

“No,” he immediately denied, “I want to go, it’s just my first time traveling far, and I’m a little nervous.”

He tried his best to control his emotions, wanting to appear as natural as possible in front of Mu Chuang.

Mu Chuang slightly dispelled his doubts, looking at the timid and cowardly boy in the back, and couldn’t help but find it amusing.

“With Chuang-ge here, what do you have to be nervous about?” He finally returned to his warm tone, “If anyone dares to bully you, I’ll definitely make them suffer.”

As soon as he said this, his gaze immediately became sharp, as if he would pounce on anyone who dared to touch Lin Xi.

Lin Xi stopped the surge of sadness because of his words, and finally dared to look directly into his dark and sharp eyes. In that instant, he felt that Mu Chuang definitely had completely different sides when dealing with him and with others. Perhaps what he was seeing was already his best side.

A trace of emotion arose from the bottom of his heart, and he even naively thought that he was different from others in his heart.

“Thank you, Chuang-ge.” His voice was pure and clear, with the unique immaturity of a young man, “I’ll adjust slowly, you don’t have to worry too much.”

“Mm.” Mu Chuang made a sound from his nose, then with a hint of mischief, got out of the car, opened the back door, his movements so fast that Lin Xi didn’t even have time to react.

He only felt a gust of cold wind suddenly rush in from outside, and then he was pulled out of the car by the other party.

“Chuang-ge…?” He grabbed the other’s neck in panic, afraid of falling accidentally, “What are you doing?”

“Sit in the front.” Mu Chuang replied simply, then took a long stride, put one arm around him, opened the car door with the other, and effortlessly placed Lin Xi in the passenger seat, “Sitting here, you can chat with Chuang-ge properly, otherwise I’ll doze off.”

When he put him down, because he was bending over, his head was extremely close to Lin Xi’s, and the warm breath when he spoke fell entirely on the other’s face and neck.

Lin Xi was made dizzy by him, but he closed the car door, oblivious to his flirting, and walked around the front of the car to sit back in the driver’s seat.

The heat on his face had not yet dissipated, and the touch of the place where he had been hugged by the other party still lingered. Lin Xi was completely confused by him.

“Fasten your seatbelt.” The culprit’s teasing voice came from beside him, “Chuang-ge is a novice driver, his driving experience is unreliable, you know.”

Hearing this, Lin Xi woke up from his confusion and quickly looked for the “rope,” obediently fastening it for himself, as if he really didn’t trust Mu Chuang’s driving skills.

“Haha…” Mu Chuang successfully teased him, unable to restrain his laughter, “Xi Xi, someone like you will probably be abducted as soon as you go out.”

After laughing, he realized that Lin Xi’s face was flushed red, but he didn’t think about it in that way at all, only assuming that it was caused by his teasing and embarrassment.

“Okay, I won’t tease you anymore.” He stopped laughing, fastened his seatbelt himself, then lit a cigarette and held the steering wheel with one hand.

“Let’s go?” He asked as well as reminded, signaling Lin Xi to sit properly, he was ready to start.

“Mm.” Lin Xi responded, adjusted his sitting posture, and then looked at the front with some novelty, imagining the scenery different from his hometown that he would see on the road next.

The luxury car started, and the houses and trees on both sides of the road ran backwards. As the distance traveled grew longer and longer, the scene that came into view gradually became unfamiliar.

The tension was accompanied by a strong sense of novelty, allowing Lin Xi to experience a world other than his hometown for the first time.

In this world, everything was unfamiliar except for Mu Chuang beside him.

For a moment, he felt that he had handed over everything he had into his hands. The road ahead, whether it was good or bad, would be decided by him.

He couldn’t help but steal a glance at the driver. The other’s relaxed driving and dashingly handsome appearance deeply attracted his eyes.

He suddenly thought of the other party’s action of carrying him into the car just now, which made his heart race wildly even now. If he didn’t know that he disliked homosexuality, he would have really believed it—

Believed that he was special in his heart, and believed that he had that kind of feeling for him.

But he still couldn’t understand, couldn’t understand why, when the two were just getting along as brothers, the other party would make such intimate gestures towards him?

If he had the same thoughts as him, that would be fine, but he was straight, and he showed such strong opposition to mentioning same-sex relationships, so wouldn’t it be contradictory to make such gestures to him?

Or perhaps he subconsciously didn’t realize that he had this tendency, but it was unconsciously expressed in his behavior?

Thinking of this, Lin Xi couldn’t help but feel a hint of joy in his heart…

“Xi Xi,” Mu Chuang, although driving, did not miss the expression on his face. With a teasing tone, he asked, “What are you smiling at while looking at Chuang-ge? Do you think Chuang-ge is very handsome?”

Hearing this, Lin Xi realized that the joy in his heart had been expressed on his face, and he suddenly became extremely embarrassed.

He lowered his head, his hands clasped together nervously, and answered along with the other’s words, “Chuang-ge is indeed very handsome, but that’s not why I’m smiling.”

As for the real reason, he didn’t dare to say it, only hoping that Mu Chuang could let it go this time, like he had done before, without pursuing the details.

However, this time Mu Chuang changed his usual behavior, as if he was very interested in his inexplicable smile, and began to get to the bottom of it, “Then what is Xi Xi smiling at?”
