AWDC Chapter 18
by VolareChapter 18: Blatant Protection
Mu Chuang didn’t do this because he was reluctant to part with Liu Jingjing, but because there truly weren’t any extra people in their department’s QC team. Li Weili’s actions were purely nonsensical.
Secondly, he didn’t want Liu Jingjing to ruin someone’s family and hurt an innocent woman. And then there was the fact that he did feel a sliver of pity for Liu Jingjing, not wanting her to make a rash decision and ruin her life.
However, Liu Jingjing didn’t understand his good intentions. When she still hadn’t been transferred the next day, she threw a tantrum at Mu Chuang, even threatening to quit.
Left with no choice, Mu Chuang had to abandon that sliver of kindness, instructing the QC team leader to train new personnel and let Liu Jingjing seek her own doom.
“Go to hell, you cheap woman, you’ll get what’s coming to you sooner or later,” Mu Chuang cursed in his heart, then began organizing yesterday’s production progress report.
At this moment, voices rang out from the production line. Mu Chuang initially thought that some brainless people dared to make a scene in front of him, but after listening carefully, he realized that it was Lin Xi’s cutting of the conductive paper that had a problem.
“They’re either too long or too short, it’s impossible to use them,” He Qin, the hot-pressing machine operator, reported to Li Chun. “The ones before have to be reworked, otherwise they can’t be used.”
The person pressing the conductive paper immediately stopped working, realizing that all the work they had done had been for nothing.
“Doesn’t that mean this whole batch is scrapped?” she asked, holding the conductive paper brought back from the front for Li Chun to see, then glanced at Mu Chuang, not daring to complain directly.
Li Chun took the batch of conductive paper with varying lengths, glanced at Mu Chuang as well, and realizing that he already knew the situation, made a helpless expression, and then went straight to the table where Lin Xi was working.
Mu Chuang followed.
After they left, the girl pressing the paper began to complain, “Damn it, making me work for nothing, a whole pile of rework, I won’t be able to get off early tonight.”
“If you can’t get off, neither can we,” He Qin chimed in. “The entire production line is being held up, it’s not just you.”
“Guess if he’ll be fined this time?” the sticker lady also joined in the commotion. “After all, so much material has been wasted.”
“Who knows?” He Qin replied. “His connections are there, it’s not up to us to decide.”
The front stopped, and everyone behind knew about it. It was passed from one person to another, all the way to the ears of those few QC women in the back. The only three who were eagerly waiting to see the results were those three.
Especially Liu Jingjing, she couldn’t wait for Lin Xi to be severely punished. She didn’t believe that Mu Chuang could protect him even in this situation; it would have a bad influence on him if word got out.
Over by the pillar, Li Chun said a few kind words and then left, leaving only Mu Chuang standing next to Lin Xi, saying something, and even finding a stool to sit next to him.
“What were you thinking just now?” He spoke in a low voice, looking like he wasn’t angry at all, even helping Lin Xi organize the uncut conductive paper.
Lin Xi lowered his head, cutting diligently. He naturally wouldn’t answer Mu Chuang’s question, he couldn’t complain about those women in front of the employees at the table, could he?
Although he was distracted because he heard them talking, and their veiled attacks had affected him, he didn’t want Mu Chuang to know that he had been listening to their conversation while working, otherwise he might be criticized.
“Wasn’t thinking about anything.” He lied. “Maybe it’s because I ate too much last night and didn’t sleep well, and my brain short-circuited.”
“Tsk.” Mu Chuang let out a helpless chuckle, answering along with his words, “Looks like I really can’t feed you too much, not only do you not play with me, but you even make mistakes at work.”
Lin Xi pouted, thinking about the fragrant lamb skewers he had last night, feeling like he might not be able to eat them in the future.
“What? Afraid I really won’t buy them for you in the future?” Mu Chuang seemed to be reading his mind, seeing right through him. “If you behave well, I’ll still buy them for you.”
“Okay.” Lin Xi raised his head upon hearing this, answering Mu Chuang, “I will definitely do well, I promise I won’t make any more mistakes.”
Mu Chuang smiled, reaching out to ruffle Lin Xi’s hair. “That’s more like it. Do a good job, I… Careful!”
He suddenly pulled Lin Xi’s hand away from under the cutting knife. If he had been any slower, he might have been cut.
“Scared me to death.” He took Lin Xi’s hand in his and examined it closely, only feeling relieved after confirming that he hadn’t been hurt, but still not forgetting to warn him, “If you can even cut yourself with this, believe it or not, I’ll really punish you?”
Lin Xi looked at the small cutting knife, feeling that as long as he was a little more careful, he wouldn’t be cut. Except for when cutting the ends of the conductive paper, which required him to be a little closer, the rest of the time he was far away, and there was no danger at all.
It was clearly Mu Chuang who had ruffled his hair, distracting him, and now he was warning him instead, he really didn’t understand his logic.
“It was clearly you…” He wanted to retort, but halfway through, he glanced at the workers next to the table and forcefully held back.
He couldn’t argue with him in front of everyone, otherwise, after work, they would have something to gossip about again.
“What about me?” Mu Chuang asked knowingly, with a smile, still holding the other’s hand in his. “Don’t tell me you dare to blame me?”
“I’m blaming you,” Lin Xi muttered, although his voice was very low, the people around him still heard it.
With a soft “smack,” Mu Chuang lightly slapped the back of his hand, still smiling, “You’ve gotten bold, you’re asking for a beating.”
Lin Xi withdrew his hand, instinctively returning the slap, but it didn’t make a sound, feeling like he had just touched him. This made Mu Chuang ruffle his hair again.
“Little brat, daring to go against me.” He said, his hands moving non-stop, messing up the other’s hair into a bird’s nest in a few strokes. “You really need to be disciplined.”
After messing up his hair, he prepared to flee the scene, but unexpectedly, Lin Xi raised his hand behind him. If he hadn’t run fast, he would have gotten hit for sure.
An incident that faced a fine ended with such a result, directly leaving everyone in the workshop speechless. At the same time, they secretly warned themselves to never speak about Lin Xi in front of him in the future, otherwise, they would be the ones suffering.
As for those three women, their eyes were dark, and their faces were gloomy. The most unbearable were Fu Xiaoling and Liang Ting. They never expected that the two of them would interact like this in private.
Afterwards, to shut everyone’s mouths, Mu Chuang used the excuse that Lin Xi was new and temporarily didn’t issue a punishment.
Everyone knew that it was inevitable for newcomers to waste materials, as long as the supervisor didn’t intentionally punish them, then it would be fine.
The lunch break was short, and the two rested early after eating.
But in the evening, when there was plenty of time, Mu Chuang liked to tease Lin Xi, even bringing up the events of the day again.
