Chapter 40: The Male Lead Says He’ll Cover Food, Drinks, and Accommodation

Unknowingly, the hour hand turned to twelve noon.

    “Knock, knock, knock.”

The knocking woke Zhou Zhou. He sat up abruptly, his eyes narrowed as he looked around.

He was still in the principal’s office, alone. Where was Pei Yanlie?

“Young Master Zhou, are you awake?” A stern male voice sounded from outside the door.

Zhou Zhou frowned slightly. Just as he was about to get up, he noticed a gray-black suit jacket covering him, obviously Pei Yanlie’s.

“Tsk, tsk, so considerate? No wonder it felt like I was in a furnace. Wearing a jacket in this weather, wouldn’t you die from the heat?” He exclaimed, then threw the jacket onto the sofa.

As soon as his feet touched the ground, a cold sensation rushed up from the soles. He lowered his head and glanced down, a hint of doubt rising in his eyes as he muttered, “I don’t think I took off my shoes before I went to sleep, did I? Did Pei Yanlie take them off for me?”

At the thought of this possibility, his brows furrowed together. He crossed his legs, lowered his head, and wiggled his nose, only breathing a sigh of relief after confirming there was no odor on his feet. He muttered to himself, “Good thing there’s no odor, or I’d lose face.”

“He even took off my socks, doesn’t he think it’s dirty?”

He quickly put on his socks, put on his shoes, and got up to walk outside.

Opening the door, a strange man stood outside, dressed in a black suit and wearing sunglasses. Obviously, a bodyguard.

“Young Master Zhou, President Pei instructed me to bring you this lunchbox at twelve o’clock.” With that, he handed over a luxuriously packaged lunchbox.

Zhou Zhou didn’t understand, and unconsciously reached out to take the lunchbox, looking down at it.

The lunchbox had three layers, most likely filled with a lot of dishes, and it was quite heavy.

Unexpectedly, listening to scriptures could get you a free meal. Not bad.

He smiled, his eyes crinkling, and walked out with the lunchbox, not forgetting to leave a message, “Tell Pei Yanlie for me, if listening to scriptures can cover food, drinks, and accommodation, I’m in it for the long haul.”

The bodyguard nodded, respectfully replying, “Okay, I understand.”

He stared unblinkingly at Zhou Zhou’s back, wondering, what is the relationship between President Pei and this young man? It’s actually intimate enough for him to instruct me to personally deliver the lunchbox.

Since reaching adulthood, President Pei has never had a boyfriend or girlfriend. His personality is cold and Deep, taciturn. In the past few days, his expressions seem to have become a little more lively.

What he found most strange was that President Pei, who never read scriptures, had recently purchased them in large quantities, filling up the library at home.

There were many strange things, but this was not something a bodyguard like him could pry into.

The midday sun was a little intense, but fortunately, there was shade from the trees, so Zhou Zhou wasn’t exposed to the sun.

He lowered his head slightly, carrying the lunchbox in one hand and holding his phone in the other, checking the class group chat.

[Class Monitor: The sports meet registration form has been submitted. Students who haven’t registered yet, please go to the office to find Qu teacher this afternoon.]

[Su Wanxing: Ah? Do you have to sign up even when “that” comes?]

[Zhou Zhou: You didn’t sign up? @Su Wanxing]

[Su Wanxing: No, I’m a sports loser. Signing up would only hold everyone back, especially since I’m on my period (pout)]

Zhou Zhou stopped walking, a troubled expression on his face. Isn’t the female lead a sports star?

[Zhou Zhou: Aren’t you pretty good at sports?]

[Su Wanxing: Who said that? I’m at the bottom of the class in sports exams (awkward)]

Damn it! The plot is actually developing in the opposite direction?

He remembered that in the novel, the female lead won first place in the sports meet!

Does it have to be like this?

Could it be that the fourth plan is going to fail again?

A bunch of white lotus protectors of the female lead popped up in the class group.

[Chen Qihang: Special circumstances shouldn’t require registration, right? @Class Monitor]

[Gao Zijun: It’s very uncomfortable to have your period. Get some rest @Su Wanxing]

[Huang Tao: I just made brown sugar water. Want a bowl? @Su Wanxing]

[Chen Qihang: You’re a guy having period cramps? @Huang Tao]

[Huang Tao: Got a problem with that? @Chen Qihang]

[Su Meimei: Report Huang Tao for using illegal electrical appliances in the dorm @Administrator]

[Huang Tao: Damn! The jealousy of these women is terrifying!]

[Class Monitor: Everyone be quiet. Except for those who are completely paralyzed, no one can be absent!]

    [Su Wanxing: 55555 (crying)]

[Chen Qihang: That’s so inhumane! (angry) @Class Monitor]

[Class Monitor: I don’t want to either. This is Qu teacher’s order.]

[Qu Jing: Heh heh, so lively? Anyone has any objections, come to the office now and we’ll have a good chat.]

As soon as old Qu appeared, the class group instantly quieted down.

Zhou Zhou closed his phone, sighed softly, and looked listless.

He raised the luxuriously packaged lunchbox and muttered helplessly, “Pei Yanlie, your wife can’t get first place anymore.”

Sunlight pierced his eyes through the dense branches, he narrowed his eyes and walked towards the dormitory building.

Without blushing or skipping a beat, he climbed up to the sixth floor and entered dormitory 606.

Qu Minghui was sitting on the bed changing clothes, his white, fleshy body exposed. Hearing the footsteps, he turned to look at Zhou Zhou, his gaze immediately fixed on the lunchbox in his hand.

He turned back, put on a loose short-sleeved t-shirt, and casually asked, “What kind of set meal did you order today? Even the packaging is so fancy.”

“A blind box, someone gave it to me.”

With that, Zhou Zhou put the lunchbox on the desk, walked a few steps to the washstand to wash his hands, and then quickly walked back, impatiently opening the lunchbox.

The first layer was soft rice, mixed with yellow quinoa, emitting a rich aroma of rice.

The second layer was abalone, shrimp, and beef.

The third layer was green vegetables, and unknown fruits.

Qu Minghui changed his clothes and walked over barefoot to take a look,Tsk tsk in amazement, “This combination is pretty good, so healthy, who gave it to you?”

He guessed it was Zhou Zhou’s family.

“A mysterious person gave it to me.”

Zhou Zhou smiled casually, picked up the matching golden chopsticks and put a bite of rice in his mouth.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, sighing, “Mmm… this rice is so delicious.”

In less than ten minutes, the three-layer lunchbox was swept clean by him, he rubbed his stomach and burped.

He commented with satisfaction, “It looks light, but it tastes much better than takeout.”

“Beep,” the phone on the table vibrated.

Zhou Zhou reached out and took the phone, casually swiping to open the message sent by a strange number.

    [Pei Yanlie: Can.]

Zhou Zhou frowned slightly, not knowing what the other party meant.

    [Zhou Zhou: ?]

The other party replied almost immediately.

[Pei Yanlie: Cover food, drinks, and accommodation.]

Zhou Zhou showed a “knowing” expression, feeling a little more fondness for the male lead in his heart.

He decided to let bygones be bygones and forgive the male lead’s previous actions.

After all, the other party was suspected of being possessed by a master, which is why he did those incomprehensible things.

[Zhou Zhou: Better to be respectful than refuse.]

He’s just getting free food and drinks for a month and listening to scriptures, how could he refuse!

However, what Zhou Zhou didn’t know was that there was no free lunch in the world.

He was full and lying on the bed humming an unknown song, his legs bent and crossed, his fair feet swaying up and down, relaxed and comfortable.
