Chapter 283: Falling into a Trap

Deep within the dense forest, a swarm of wild bees the size of fists surged rapidly towards Zhou Zhou and the others.

The wild bees were black all over, with a ring of milky white lines around their abdomens. Zhou Zhou clearly saw the black, sharp stingers at the end of the bees’ tails.

“Fuck! Are these mutant wild bees?! First time seeing ones this big!” Zhou Zhou had just finished speaking when Pei Yanlie grabbed his waist and pulled him back to the left.

“Hold your breath and don’t talk.” Pei Yanlie lowered his head slightly, his thin lips lightly brushing against his ear. His magnetic, low voice was filled with a sense of security that put people at ease.

Zhou Zhou looked back at Zhou Jin, who was fleeing to the right, his sword-like eyebrows slightly furrowed, his expression showing worry.

[Pei Yanlie, isn’t it unsafe to split up?]

Fiery red flames swirled in Pei Yanlie’s palm, quickly turning into a soccer-ball-sized fireball. Zhou Zhou only felt that the heat emanating from the other man was extremely scorching, and even the waist that Pei Yanlie was tightly holding seemed as if it would ignite at any moment.

He pursed his lips tightly, and fine, dense beads of sweat quickly appeared on his forehead, a flush rapidly spreading across his face.

[One moment I’m freezing to death, the next I’m burning to death. With this alternating cold and heat, I’m going to catch a cold sooner or later.]

The fireball left Pei Yanlie’s palm as they ran, quickly attacking the wild bees that were chasing closely behind.

With a loud “bang,” layers of heat slammed into Zhou Zhou’s back, and the strong smell of burnt flesh entered his nose and mouth. He swallowed and looked back at the wild bees that had disappeared for the most part, looking at Pei Yanlie with admiring eyes.

    [Can we eat that meat?]

A subtle dark light rose in Pei Yanlie’s eyes. “You can, but are you sure you want to eat it?”

As soon as Zhou Zhou saw his malicious expression, he subconsciously shook his head.

[Just kidding, there’s obviously such a big pit here. I’d be crazy to jump into it.]

The buzzing sound rapidly approached. Perhaps the death of their companions had enraged them. Green liquid seeped out of the stingers at their tails. Without guessing, he knew it was poisonous!

Zhou Zhou’s physical strength had greatly improved with his evolution, so he didn’t feel tired. His slender legs moved quickly, and he even had the leisure to observe the surrounding environment.

This was clearly deep within the dense forest. Weeds grew everywhere, and the tree trunks in sight were thick, with even more luxuriant branches and leaves, blocking out the light.

The hand tightly gripping his waist suddenly tightened. Zhou Zhou swallowed the exclamation that escaped his mouth. The world spun before his eyes, and he fell into Pei Yanlie’s broad embrace.

Just as he was about to ask a question, the scene before him completely changed, replaced by a rough tree trunk and an overwhelming musty smell.

This was actually a spacious tree hole, with an entrance that could only accommodate one person at a time, now tightly blocked by a chilling block of ice.

    “Pei Yan… Ugh…”

Before Zhou Zhou could finish speaking, his lips and tongue were heavily blocked, his mouth filled with Pei Yanlie’s domineering, forceful aura.

[Wait, why are you suddenly forcing a kiss for no reason!]

Pei Yanlie clenched his fingers, pulling his wrist down and pressing it firmly against himself. He opened his thin lips slightly and released him a little, saying in a hoarse voice, “Now, no one can disturb us.”

    Zhou Zhou: …

Why did he have a feeling of falling into a trap? Thinking about how Pei Yanlie had eliminated most of the wild bees with just one fireball, he realized the truth.

They didn’t need to run away at all. Pei Yanlie was doing it on purpose!

    Definitely on purpose!

Crap, he felt like he was going to be “pancake-d” over and over again!

The pink blanket was violently pulled open. Zhou Zhou’s mind was filled with all sorts of random thoughts as he was forced to raise his neck and accept his ravaging. “Wait… Brother Zhou is still outside, now isn’t the time…”

More words were blocked in his throat. He widened his eyes, one hand forcefully grabbing Pei Yanlie’s back, the other hand tightly gripped by that scorching palm and pinned above his head.

    [Brother Zhou, take care.]

His hazy, moist eyes looked outside through the ice door. He was trapped by Pei Yanlie’s waist, unable to escape, nor did he want to escape, willingly sinking into depravity.

On the other side, Zhou Jin wandered through the dense forest for a long time, but still didn’t see Zhou Zhou and the others.

He stopped, his brow furrowed tightly. “Those wild bees only chased me for half a kilometer before disappearing. Clearly, they can’t leave the hive too far. Where did Little Zhou and Pei Yanlie go?”

    “Beep beep beep”

The long-silent notification sound suddenly rang from the optical brain.

A hint of surprise flashed in Zhou Jin’s eyes. As soon as he clicked on the optical brain, a video call popped up impatiently.

It was a call from an unfamiliar number.

No matter who it was, he had to answer.

A virtual screen floated in front of him, reflecting a blood-soaked, cloudy, handsome face.

Zhou Jin’s heart skipped a beat, and his throat felt a pain. “Yuanci, are you injured?”

The gloom in Gu Yuanci’s eyes dissipated, his eyes curved, revealing a little light, but matched with this haggard, bloodthirsty expression, it was strangely creepy.

“That’s great, Brother Jin is still alive.” His low, hoarse voice was mixed with intense affection. He reached out to the unharmed man on the screen and chuckled, “Wait, I’m coming to find you.”

Zhou Jin’s Adam’s apple rolled slightly, a sense of being stared at by a wild beast rose in him, and a chill ran down his spine. “You know where I am?”

Obscure emotions welled up in Gu Yuanci’s eyes, his gaze falling down on the men’s necklace worn around his neck. “There’s a locator inside the necklace.”

    Zhou Jin: …

He cursed inwardly. He knew this man’s unprompted gift of a necklace couldn’t have good intentions. It turned out he had hidden such a gadget inside.

“The blood on your face?” After cursing, Zhou Jin couldn’t help but worry about the other’s situation.

“Oh, it’s not mine, Brother Jin, don’t worry.” Gu Yuanci raised his hand and casually wiped his face, his gaze always fixed on Zhou Jin, saying meaningfully, “Brother Jin, you’ve become darker.”

    Zhou Jin: …

He pursed his lips. “Yeah, the sun on this planet is a bit poisonous.”

“Darker looks even better. I like you no matter what you become.” Gu Yuanci’s lips rose, and in a place Zhou Jin couldn’t see, he clenched his fists tightly. The inside of his arm was covered with a layer of black scales. He really wanted to appear beside that man immediately, but now was not the time.

He was now neither man nor beast. Appearing rashly would scare the person he loved most.

“Where are you?” Zhou Jin changed the subject, his gaze falling on the flying objects gradually approaching behind him, and his scalp crawled.

    Were those birds or birdmen?

He couldn’t make out their size from afar, but their facial features were extremely similar to humans, and their wide, sharp bird beaks were filled with fangs.

“Be careful!” Zhou Jin’s pupils shrank and he shouted.

    “Beep—”

The video suddenly cut off. Gu Yuanci’s expression changed in a flash. A pair of peach blossom eyes were covered with a cold, eerie red light. He tilted his head to look at the mutated creatures that were constantly approaching, and the violence churning in his chest turned into endless killing intent.

He had to evolve, urgently needed to evolve again. Only by evolving to a higher level could he successfully hide the horrifying beast characteristics on his body.

He raised his completely beastly arm, the sharp nails reflecting in his eyes, and a feeling of nausea rose in his stomach.

He had never thought that one day, the appearance he was so proud of would become so ugly and frightening.

Just the thought of Zhou Jin showing a disgusted expression was unacceptable to him.

The roars belonging to beasts resounded through this ruin that had become a home for mutants. All kinds of sharp sounds were intertwined, making people shudder.
