Chapter 275: Do I Still Have Male Dignity?

Pei Yanlie’s cold, emotionless words sent chills down one’s spine. Zhou Zhou braced himself against the suspended car window with one hand, his knuckles slightly contracted and the back of his hand damp and flushed. He pressed his lips together tightly, swallowing the groan that was about to escape.

The temperature inside the suspended car rose sharply, and even the windows were covered with a blurry mist. Zhou Zhou turned his head to look at the man who was breathing heavily but remained silent, his eyes filled with a hazy mist, his voice as hoarse as a broken string, “Pei Yanlie… you’ve changed.”

He was simply stating a fact. From the moment Pei Yanlie woke up, he had noticed it.

He couldn’t see the future, so he couldn’t empathize with this man. Although he wasn’t a saint, he wasn’t an unforgivable person devoid of emotions either.

However, he was aware of his own limitations; his individual strength was indeed insufficient to save the thousands of trapped residents.

    Pei Yanlie’s words weren’t unreasonable.

The faint sound of children crying reached his ears and struck his heart. Zhou Zhou didn’t wallow in sentimentality for long. The surging tide of passion overwhelmed his thoughts. He had no time to consider much else. His fingertips slid down the transparent window, leaving a few intriguing watermarks.

He clenched his teeth, and his lips were suddenly touched and pried open by cool fingers. Pei Yanlie leaned close to his ear, biting his earlobe with a bit of force, and whispered, “Little Zhou, you don’t need to restrain your emotions in front of me in the future. Cry if you want to cry, laugh if you want to laugh, and curse me if you want to curse me.”

[Can you get Pei Shidi to restrain himself a little?]

    “No,” Pei Yanlie refused directly.

Zhou Zhou immediately exploded, softly uttering a single word, “Scram.”

An hour later, the suspended car broke through the gradually thickening white mist and arrived at the spaceship docking station.

Zhou Zhou leaned against Pei Yanlie’s chest. After recovering his strength, he said in surprise, “I didn’t know until I tried, but I actually recovered so quickly!”

Pei Yanlie’s eyes darkened, “Three days and three nights wouldn’t be a problem either.”

Zhou Zhou’s face flushed red, “Are you hoping I’ll die suddenly in bed?”

Pei Yanlie frowned and covered his mouth, scolding in a low voice, “Don’t talk about death, it’s bad luck!”

    “Uh… okay…”

Zhou Zhou couldn’t resist his sharp gaze and nodded repeatedly.

[It’s getting more and more outrageous.]

“Hmm?” Pei Yanlie released his hand and squinted at him.

“Nothing, are we getting out of the car? Are we just going to go down there half-naked?” Zhou Zhou looked down at his chest, which was covered in kiss marks, and crossed his arms in an attempt to cover himself.

Pei Yanlie naturally wouldn’t agree. Only he could see Zhou Zhou’s body.

He frowned, his gaze sweeping across the interior of the suspended car, and then landed on the storage compartment. He opened it and rummaged through it, finding only two tubes of milk-flavored Nutrient Solution, a fluffy pink blanket, and some miscellaneous useless trinkets.

Seeing Pei Yanlie holding the pink blanket and about to drape it over himself, Zhou Zhou’s eyes were full of resistance. He moved his butt backwards, until his back was against the door, “No, I’d rather be naked!”

Pei Yanlie snorted coldly, “Don’t even think about it!”

“I’ll be laughed at if I wear this!” Zhou Zhou stubbornly glared at him.

Pei Yanlie reached out and pulled him in front of him, forcefully draping the blanket over him, patiently coaxing, “No one dares to laugh at you. Besides, the R Particle content is highest here. No one will come close, no one will see.”

Zhou Zhou pursed his lips, his red phoenix eyes staring straight at the scratches that stretched from Pei Yanlie’s chest to his shoulders, “Then what about you? Are you just going to be naked like that?”

Pei Yanlie hummed in agreement, with an indifferent attitude.

[Double standards, you can set fires but I can’t even light a lamp!]

Pei Yanlie didn’t deny it. He raised his hand to touch his head, and lovingly leaned in to kiss his slightly pouting lips, “Be good, only I can see your body.”

Zhou Zhou said “Oh” and turned his head to roll his eyes secretly.

The two of them stopped bickering and opened the door to get out of the car.

As soon as Zhou Zhou’s foot touched the ground, Pei Yanlie scooped him up into his arms, his expression cold and stern, seriously saying, “You’re not feeling well, don’t walk for now.”

    Zhou Zhou: …

He frowned and retorted in a muffled voice, “I’m fine, don’t treat me like a cripple.”

The muffled nasal sound made one’s heart itch.

Pei Yanlie hooked his lips and only glanced at him deeply, then lifted his foot and strode towards the passenger center.

[Damn it, is there still any human rights in front of Pei Yanlie?]

[Do I still have male dignity?]

    [Hey, at least say something!]

“Don’t think wildly, close your eyes and rest for a while.” Pei Yanlie tightened his arms, his gaze quickly scanning the surroundings.

As soon as they stepped into the passenger center lobby, Zhou Zhou immediately closed his mouth, his ears twitching, clearly hearing the howls coming from inside the corridor, filled with despair and pain.

“There’s someone inside.” Zhou Zhou unconsciously grabbed Pei Yanlie’s chest, inexplicably nervous.

The man who was howling non-stop was obviously not in good condition. The trembling end of his voice gradually collapsed, leaving a stinging trail in the air.

Pei Yanlie looked at Zhou Zhou with a deep gaze. Although he felt sorry, he still resolutely lifted his foot and walked into the corridor, allowing this person to witness the third outcome of failed evolution.

Mutation into a bloodthirsty, flesh-eating, inhumane monster.

Zhou Zhou swallowed hard. As the distance narrowed, the sound entering his ears was harsh and unpleasant, making his heart beat wildly uncontrollably, “Pei Yanlie…”

He called out softly, his eyes filled with a hint of panic. Pei Yanlie patted his waist reassuringly and whispered, “I’m here, don’t be afraid.”

The lights in the corridor were bright, and a thin mist floated in the air. This place was far from the door, and there was a dividing door in the middle, so that only a small amount of R Particles spread in through the door seams.

The wailing came from a place at the end of the corridor marked as a resting room. Pei Yanlie’s footsteps didn’t stop, quickly approaching, the sound of his military boots stepping on the ground was almost silent.

Zhou Zhou held his breath, not saying a word, his hands unknowingly wrapped around Pei Yanlie’s neck, his eyes staring straight at the door of the resting room.

Pei Yanlie reached out to twist the doorknob, but found that the door was locked from the inside. His eyes changed slightly, and a faint blue mist floated around his pupils. With a “crack” sound, the door was covered with ice blocks emitting cold air, and shattered and collapsed in less than three seconds.

The sound of “crackling” mixed with the man’s roar, and the scene of the resting room came into view.

A man covered in blood looked desperately at the direction of the door, a woman with a hunched body and covered in tumor-like growths was crawling on him. The woman heard the sound and turned her head to look in Zhou Zhou’s direction.

A thick, nauseating smell of blood rushed towards him. Zhou Zhou’s pupils shrank violently, his throat seemed to be grasped by an invisible hand, making him suffocate and shudder.

    Was this still a human?

The woman’s face was almost covered with red tumor-like growths of various sizes, only revealing narrow eyes the size of slits. She still had the man’s finger in her mouth, chewing crazily.

    “Save… save me…”

The man used almost his last bit of strength, raising his bloody, mutilated arm.

[It hurts so much, it hurts so much! Kill me, kill me!]

A sharp shout broke into Zhou Zhou’s mind. It was the man’s inner voice.

“This is the third case of evolution, a low-level mutant – a Tumorized Human.”

Pei Yanlie raised his hand to cover his eyes, “Tumorized Humans can’t see, they only rely on hearing to identify the direction of their prey.”

Zhou Zhou gasped softly, his mind filled with the image of the woman, his hands trembling uncontrollably.

The man’s voice kept echoing in his mind, Zhou Zhou’s throat rolled, pulling away Pei Yanlie’s hand, his eyes were red, full of tears.

[Pei Yanlie, is he beyond saving?]

Pei Yanlie nodded. The saliva of mutants contains a large number of viruses. Once bitten, there is a 100% chance of being infected with the virus, unless the virus clearing solution is injected before the virus invades the internal organs.

However, the virus clearing solution will only appear in five years.

The man’s face was obviously uneven, that was the initial symptom of tumorization.

The other party’s inner voice was collapsing. Zhou Zhou raised his hand to cover his ears, his head throbbed painfully, and his breathing became rapid.

He couldn’t bear it any longer, his chin resting on Pei Yanlie’s shoulder, his tense back relaxing.

    [Pei Yanlie, kill him.]
