Chapter 178: Men Understand Men Best

Early November, and the weather was still hot.

The four of them from 606 were staying in their dorm, blasting the air conditioning, and munching on iced watermelon and various imported fruits that CEO Pei had sent over.

“It’s so damn hot, usually we’d be wearing jackets by now.” Qu Minghui muttered while taking a big bite of watermelon, “Zhou-ge, it seems like your relationship with CEO Pei has reached the point where you can just get married on the spot. When are you planning on treating us to the wedding banquet?”

Zhou Zhou leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs, and shook them. He held a watermelon in one hand and was watching a drama on his phone in the other. He lifted his eyelids, glanced at Qu Minghui, and casually said, “Don’t worry, don’t even think about it before graduation. If you really want to drink wedding wine, throw your own party, and I’ll give you a big red envelope.”

Qu Minghui blurted out, “I don’t even have a girlfriend, who would I marry?”

Lin Sheng, who was sitting next to him, coughed lightly, hinting at something.

Qu Minghui turned his head to look at him, and reached out to grab a pen from his desk, “Would you say this pen is straight or not?”

Lin Sheng rolled his eyes at him, “And then? Are you trying to say you’re straighter than this pen?”

“No, what I’m trying to say is, a pen is always straight, just like me.” Qu Minghui chuckled, a bit of watermelon juice dripping from the corner of his mouth.

Lin Sheng grabbed a tissue and quickly wiped it for him, “You say you’re straight, you’re straight. Anyway, men’s words can’t be trusted.”

That one sentence offended the other men in the dorm.

Zhou Zhou: “Don’t drag me into this, I’m an honest and trustworthy college student.”

Chen Qihang raised his head while eating watermelon, and looked at Qu Minghui, “Don’t drag me into this either, I never lie!”

Qu Minghui collapsed on his desk laughing, his shoulders shaking, “Sure enough, men understand men best, half of what they say is a lie!”

The four of them exchanged insults and hurt each other with their words.

Zhou Zhou opened his messaging app and casually browsed his Moments.

He suddenly noticed that his older brother had posted good news at three in the morning.

    The caption read: Married.

The accompanying picture: Two hands clasped tightly together, the plain rings on their ring fingers very conspicuous.

Zhou Zhou instantly sat up straight and quickly sent a message to his older brother.

[Zhou Xiaozhou: Big brother, you secretly got married behind my back?! Showing affection in the middle of the night, if I hadn’t been bored and scrolling through Moments, I wouldn’t have even found out. (Hmph)]

    Zhou Jin replied quickly.

[Zhou Jin: Was just about to call you, I’ll take you out for a big dinner tonight.]

    [Zhou Xiaozhou: A trap?]

[Zhou Jin: Looks like you had a lot of complaints about the last gathering.]

[Zhou Xiaozhou: Hungry and bored, what do you think?]

[Zhou Jin: You can bring CEO Pei.]

[Zhou Xiaozhou: So it really is a class reunion?]

[Zhou Jin: Huan Yu Company and other companies are holding a joint party, there are a lot of fun activities.]

    “Mysterious.” Zhou Zhou muttered.

Thinking that he didn’t have classes early tomorrow, it wouldn’t matter even if he got drunk.

He sent a message to ask Pei Yanlie, who agreed readily.

“If I said I was going to a remote mountain, would you follow me too?” Zhou Zhou sent a voice message.

[Pei Yanlie: No matter where you go, I’ll follow.]

Pei Yanlie was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows of his office, looking down at the scenery outside. He remembered what Yuan Heng had said, and the corners of his mouth that had lifted slightly instantly pressed down. “No one can take him away.”

He suppressed the unease rising in his heart, his hand unconsciously clenching into a fist, his brow furrowed, his handsome face filled with gloom.

As night fell, Zhou Zhou got into Pei Yanlie’s car and arrived at the location of the party.

As soon as Pei Yanlie got out of the car, a group of men in suits came to greet him, all fawning over him.

“I’m going to find my brother.” Zhou Zhou shook off his hand and quickly left the circle of people.

Pei Yanlie’s face turned cold, and he instructed his bodyguard to follow.

Inside the luxurious hotel lobby, men and women dressed in finery were gathered. Zhou Zhou, in his simple and comfortable sportswear, quickly attracted the attention of the crowd.

“Whose son is that handsome young man? He didn’t even bother to dress up for such an important occasion.”

“He looks very young, and he looks a bit like Zhou-zong.”

“He’s Zhou-zong’s younger brother.” Someone interjected.

The crowd understood. Some employees who had brought their daughters to the banquet quickly came over to greet him.

“Are you Zhou shao ye?” A middle-aged man wearing glasses and looking like an elite, with a beautiful daughter by his side, blocked Zhou Zhou’s path, introducing himself eagerly: “This is my daughter, Jiang You, she’s studying at Yucheng International University…”

Before he could finish speaking, A’Hu behind Zhou Zhou interrupted, “He’s already taken, don’t try to matchmake.”

The middle-aged man looked stunned, awkwardly touched his nose, feeling a little embarrassed. He patted his daughter’s arm, signaling her to step up.

Jiang You only glanced at Zhou Zhou casually before losing interest. The man she was interested in was the one at the entrance, Pei Yanlie, who was surrounded by people.

“Dad, I like him.” She said bluntly.

The middle-aged man looked towards the entrance, his expression becoming excited, and pulled his daughter to rush out.

    Zhou Zhou: …

“What kind of look is that? Do they think I’m too young?” Zhou Zhou gritted his teeth, looking back at Pei Yanlie who was surrounded, “Why does he have to be so attractive, what’s the point of being so good-looking!”

He put one hand in his pocket and strolled through the crowd in his sneakers, but he still couldn’t find his older brother.

He randomly grabbed someone and asked, “Have you seen Zhou Jin?”

The person replied, “I saw him heading towards the resting point.”

“Okay, thank you.” Zhou Zhou moved away from the noisy hall and walked into the quiet corridor.

A’Hu followed him not too closely behind.

When he reached the door of the Resting Point, he was about to knock when he heard a few ambiguous sounds.

His hand froze in mid-air, and he unconsciously perked up his ears to eavesdrop.

“Let go first… so many people are waiting for me outside, Gu Yuanci!” Zhou-ge’s vague and low voice faintly came through.

“Wife, I’m jealous.” Gu Yuanci’s voice was low and suppressed.

The door made a “bang” sound, it seemed that Zhou-ge was being pinned against the door.

Zhou Zhou was startled and quickly took two steps back, covering his ears and fleeing the scene, his face flushed, muttering, “Damn, why are they playing so rough, the door is about to fall down!”

A’Hu followed him out closely, his earlobes also turning red.

As soon as Zhou Zhou walked into the banquet hall, he was caught by Pei Yanlie. He frowned, looked at Zhou Zhou’s flushed face, pulled him into a deserted corner, and demanded, “What were you doing just now?”

“Cough cough, nothing.” Zhou Zhou lowered his head slightly, breathed out a soft breath, and then looked up at the man with a dark expression, “Tsk, what are you getting angry about?”

“Why are you making that expression?” Pei Yanlie reached out and touched his cheek, a dangerous glint rising in his eyes.

Zhou Zhou’s eyes darted around, not answering his question.

“Are you sure you won’t tell me?” Pei Yanlie pinched his sensitive spot on his waist with one hand, threatening, “Zhou Zhou, do you want to try punishment?”

[How will you punish me, with a whip? Or lock me in a small dark room?]

Pei Yanlie said slowly, “Don’t you know perfectly well.”

Once he encountered this alluring little fox spirit that was Zhou Zhou, he lost the thing called reason. Even if he was usually cold and detached, his heart would become soft and fiery because of this person.

Zhou Zhou blinked his eyes, filled with a sly smile, his red lips curving into an alluring arc, “CEO Pei, you have so many tricks.”
