    Chapter 169 Hurting Each Other

As night fell, Lin Sheng and Qu Minghui returned home.

Qu Minghui’s home was a three-story villa, with his grandparents in their seventies upstairs and a fifteen-year-old younger sister downstairs, the whole family living together.

Lin Sheng often visited his home and was already very familiar with Qu Minghui’s family.

As soon as they entered the living room, the silver-haired grandmother, leaning on her cane, walked to his side and stealthily took a candy from her pocket, placing it in his hand while whispering, “Huier, this is what Grandma specially hid for you. Don’t let your parents find out, and remember to brush your teeth after eating, or you’ll get cavities.”

Qu Minghui smiled helplessly, “Grandma, this is Lin Sheng, I’m over here.”

The grandmother suffered from dementia, and as she aged, her condition worsened. Now, she didn’t recognize anyone except her own son.

“Lin Sheng? Grandma remembers, didn’t Huier cry and want to marry him when he was little?” The old grandmother held Lin Sheng’s hand, gently patted it, the wrinkles on her face layered together, revealing the traces of time.

Lin Sheng was stunned, tilted his head to look at Qu Minghui, and the corners of his lips turned up.

“No, no, my grandma is old and remembers wrong.” Qu Minghui quickly denied it, never expecting that his grandmother would still remember something from so long ago.

“Xiao Hui, your grandma didn’t remember wrong, your dad and I remember it clearly.” Qu’s mother said while wiping the dining table with a cloth.

Lin Sheng took the initiative to go into the kitchen to wash his hands and help bring out the dishes, his eyes occasionally falling on Qu Minghui’s flushed face.

“Xiao Sheng, just treat this place as your own home, don’t be so polite, go sit down, you don’t need to help.” Qu’s mother said with a smile.

“Okay.” Lin Sheng returned to Qu Minghui’s side and lowered his voice to ask, “I actually didn’t know about this, can you tell me in detail?”

Qu Minghui and him sat down at the dining table and whispered back, “They remembered wrong.”

“I might believe you if you said Grandma remembered wrong, but since your parents both remember, don’t be stubborn.” Lin Sheng habitually peeled a shrimp for him.

The others in the family were used to it. Qu Minghui liked to eat shrimp when he was little, but didn’t want to peel the shells, so Lin Sheng always peeled them for him. Over time, it became a natural habit.

Qu Minghui didn’t realize anything was wrong before, but now he felt awkward, “Eat yours, don’t peel them for me.”

“Okay, this is the last one.” Lin Sheng quickly finished peeling the shrimp, got up to go to the bathroom to wash his hands, and only after returning to his seat did he find several shrimp pieces in his bowl. He pursed his lips and silently picked up his chopsticks to eat.

“Don’t misunderstand, you peeled those yourself.” Qu Minghui saw the corners of his mouth were constantly rising, and couldn’t help but explain in a low voice.

“You could have chosen not to say it.” Lin Sheng glanced at him, and the rising corners of his mouth instantly dropped.

Qu Minghui chewed the shrimp pieces in his mouth, vaguely saying, “Wasn’t this because I was afraid you’d misunderstand?”

The two were still muttering while eating, and Qu Jing’s sharp eyes swept over his son, “Xiao Hui, don’t disturb Xiao Sheng’s eating.”

Qu Minghui muffled an “Oh.” It takes two to tango, why always pick on me?

“Brother, you look much better after losing weight than before. Just now, the sister next door asked me for your contact information.” Qu’s younger sister raised her chubby face to look at Qu Minghui.

As soon as the words came out, Lin Sheng swallowed a mouthful of rice with difficulty, feeling a tightness in his throat, a tightness in his chest, and his stomach began to protest, losing his appetite.

“Ahahaha, eat your food, we’ll talk after we finish eating.” Qu Minghui smiled and looked at his sister, even winking at her, signaling her to shut up.

After dinner, Qu’s parents took the grandparents out for a walk, while Qu’s younger sister surrounded Lin Sheng, chirping and contributing information.

“The sister next door just moved in last week. She’s quite fat. She probably saw that my brother suddenly lost so much weight and wanted to ask him for tips.”

Lin Sheng nodded in understanding, his face returning a little bit of color, no longer dark.

“My brother resolutely ran to sign up for a weight loss training camp for his beloved goddess, I really admire his determination. I heard that he will confess to the goddess in the next two days, wish him success.” Qu’s younger sister kept chattering.

Lin Sheng raised his eyes to look at Qu Minghui in the kitchen and softly replied, “Well, wish him success.”

Qu Minghui cut them watermelon, took a piece himself, and hid in the backyard to feed the mosquitoes.

He sat on the swing, swaying slowly, holding his phone in one hand and bombarding the group chat with messages.

The cause was that Chen Qihang suddenly sent a sentence in the group,

[Chen Qihang: Isn’t it a confession tonight? I even bought you pom-poms, where are you? @Huier]

Then Zhou Zhou followed up with a reply,

[Zhou Zhou: He might be drowning his sorrows with Lin Sheng, keep the pom-poms for yourself. @Chen Qihang]

Qu Minghui tragically raised his head to look at the crescent moon, opened his mouth and took a hard bite of watermelon.

The three of them chatted in the group like this, hurting each other.

[Qu Minghui: My heart is a little bitter at this moment, comparable to drinking unsweetened Americano, when are you going to give me wedding candy? @Zhou Zhou]

Zhou Zhou lay on Pei Yanlie’s living room sofa, occasionally opening his mouth to eat the fruit that someone was feeding him.

[Zhou Zhou: Let your good brother buy it for you. @Lin Sheng]

    [Lin Sheng: (Picture)]

The picture happened to be two wedding candies, which the old grandmother had given him earlier after mistaking him for someone else.

Qu Minghui ground his teeth, threw the watermelon rind into the trash can, and began to vigorously shake the swing, replying to a message with lightning speed.

[Huier: Only want to eat the ones you and President Pei send @Zhou Zhou]

[Chen Qihang: I’m a little hungry, when can I eat the wedding banquet? @Zhou Zhou]

[Zhou Zhou: Your Qin Yang-ge is not good enough, can’t even feed you? @Chen Qihang]

[Zhou Zhou: You come over, President Pei and I will personally take you to buy it. @Huier]

[Chen Qihang: Who is Qin Yang? I don’t know him.]

    Sky City Internet Cafe.

Chen Qihang, ignoring the resentful gaze of the man next to him, sent the message out.

Qin Yang poked Chen Qihang’s arm, pitifully saying, “Hanghang, I’ll let you beat me, you can send me dog poop, pig poop, cow poop, I’ll accept it all.”

“Deliberately throwing the game so I can win? Am I that kind of hypocritical person?” Chen Qihang slammed the keyboard.

    “Knock knock knock”

The door was knocked, and Chen Sisi said outside the door, “Hanghang, someone is looking for you.”

Chen Qihang stopped what he was doing, opened the door and walked out, Qin Yang curiously followed him out.

Next to the internet cafe’s front desk stood a man in a white shirt and black suit pants. He nodded towards Qin Yang, his eyes falling on Chen Qihang, and slowly said, “We contacted each other this morning, I’m the owner of that apartment in Jinyue Residence.”

Chen Qihang understood, saw that he and Qin Yang knew each other, and looked at Qin Yang with a puzzled expression.

“His name is Yuan Heng, President Pei’s secretary.” Qin Yang explained.

Yuan Heng held a document in his hand, and walked to the side with Chen Qihang to discuss the final transfer procedures for the house.

At the end of the conversation, the two shook hands, and a slight “di di di” sound came from Yuan Heng’s wrist, a hint of joy flashing in his eyes.

    Finally, he found another one.
