TLCBITAR Chapter 167
by VolareChapter 167: What the hell are you being so awkward about?
Qu Minghui was alone in his dorm, feeling melancholic. He originally thought he could prepare a grand confession for his goddess, but who knew someone like Cheng Yaojin would appear out of nowhere?
That man looked rich and powerful at a glance. Just the expensive watch on his wrist was outrageously expensive, something he couldn’t afford even if he sold ten of himself.
His rival in love was too awesome. What could he do? He could only shrink on his bed and seek comfort.
Zhou Zhou ignored him, so he went to Chen Qihang to complain, but Qihang only replied with an “Oh” and then disappeared without a trace, stabbing him right in the heart.
He lay on his side on the bed, unconsciously swiping across the screen. When he came back to his senses, he saw that he had sent a bunch of random emojis to Lin Sheng, that brat.
Lin Sheng replied with a: ?
“If he knew about this, he’d probably gloat, huh? What a terrible friend!” Qu Minghui muttered to himself and continued to send him various sticker packs.
Who knew that in the next second, Lin Sheng would directly initiate a video call.
Qu Minghui curled his lips, changed the video call to a voice call, and then pressed “Answer.”
“What?” he preemptively asked.
“If you have something to say, just say it. What are you sending a bunch of emojis for?” Lin Sheng’s deep voice, accompanied by the sound of footsteps, reached his ear.
“Oh, probably my phone malfunctioned. I didn’t send them,” Qu Minghui lied through his teeth.
“Where are you?” Lin Sheng suddenly asked.
Qu Minghui got up and got off the bed, running around on the floor, his breathing a little ragged, “I’m running on the sports field, trying to lose two pounds before night comes.”
“Is the upstairs guy a psycho?! What the hell are you running for?!” A roar came from 506.
Lin Sheng heard it and was silent for a long time. Qu Minghui stopped running and coughed lightly twice. “We used to go game together every Saturday. You ditched me today. Where did you run off to?”
Lin Sheng still didn’t say anything, only the heavy, hurried sound of footsteps could be heard.
“Are you running?” Qu Minghui asked.
“Yeah,” Lin Sheng only replied with one word, then changed the subject, saying in a very light tone, “After thinking carefully, I’ve known you for over ten years. Now that my brother wants to confess his love, of course, I can’t be absent. If you need any help next, just ask.”
Qu Minghui gave a muffled “Oh” and continued to ask, “Where are you? I’ll come find you.”
“Running on the sports field.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Qu Minghui sat up and quickly walked to the balcony. He didn’t know when, but it had started to drizzle outside, “It’s raining, aren’t you coming back?”
“Huff… don’t really want to go back,” Lin Sheng’s tone revealed a trace of irritability.
Qu Minghui blinked, “You’re hiding something from me, aren’t you?”
“Who doesn’t have secrets?” Lin Sheng replied in a muffled voice.
Qu Minghui snorted softly, noncommittal, secretly pondering what his secret was.
Lin Sheng seemed to have run out of patience and casually found an excuse to hang up the phone.
Qu Minghui hadn’t had time to complain about him when, coincidentally, his dad called.
“Xiao Hui, it’s your sister’s birthday today, aren’t you coming back?” Qu Jing said with disapproval.
“I forgot, I’ll be back later.”
“Bring Xiao Sheng over for dinner, I bought a big cake,” Qu Jing smiled.
Qu Minghui responded, chatted for a few words, and then hung up the phone, sending Lin Sheng a message.
[Lin Sheng: Aren’t you confessing your love tonight?]
Qu Minghui scratched his hair irritably and directly forwarded the photo Zhou Zhou had sent him to Lin Sheng.
Lin Sheng understood and didn’t say much, only replying with a “Okay.”
Qu Minghui really couldn’t get used to his silent demeanor. He put on his shoes and walked out of the dorm with a bellyful of anger.
He left in a hurry, forgetting to bring an umbrella, and was too lazy to go back to the dorm, so he walked directly into the light rain, heading towards the sports field.
From a distance, he saw Lin Sheng, dressed in sportswear, walking slowly on the track, looking down at his phone.
The black sportswear accentuated his slender figure, and the exposed calves rippled with firm, powerful muscles as he walked.
Although Lin Sheng’s complexion was darker, he was quite handsome. The girls he had a crush on when he was a child all liked him.
Because of this, they had fought several times. Of course, it was just Lin Sheng being beaten by him. Not because he was particularly strong, but because Lin Sheng didn’t dare to lay a hand on him at all.
As for why he didn’t dare to fight back, Qu Minghui guessed that he was afraid of his old man. After all, Old Qu’s face when he was stern was really scary to kids.
He walked step by step to Lin Sheng, his eyes red. The light rain fell on his head and face, forming fine, dense droplets of water.
Lin Sheng’s eyes darkened. He put his phone back in his pocket, his face expressionless, his voice slightly hoarse, “What are you doing running out in the rain? Heartbroken and coming to me to complain?”
Qu Minghui gritted his teeth fiercely and suddenly grabbed his collar with both hands, “Lin Sheng, are you still a man? What the hell are you being so awkward about!”
“I ask you a few questions and you only reply with one word. Do you really not want to talk to me?”
“We’ve been friends for over ten years. What is it that you can’t say? Tell me!”
“Is your mouth mute?! I’m telling you to speak!”
…
By the end of his rant, his eyes were already blurry, filled with tears, mixed with rainwater, falling down with a crackling sound.
Lin Sheng stared at him fixedly, raised his hand to wipe away the tears on his face, and said helplessly, “Still a crybaby, just like when you were a kid.”
When Qu Minghui was a child, he took hormone medication due to illness, which caused him to become abnormally obese. Everyone kept away from him, calling him a little fatty.
Only Lin Sheng stayed by his side, driving away the mockers, and went to the same middle school, the same high school, and the same university as him.
Years of companionship had made Qu Minghui used to his presence. They should have been terrible friends who could talk about anything, the closest of brothers, but now, for unexplained reasons, the other party was being cold to him.
He felt aggrieved and a little at a loss, not understanding what he had done wrong, and at the same time, he was angry at Lin Sheng for being so stubborn, not saying anything and just keeping it to himself.
He simply went all in, launching an impulsive interrogation. He slapped away Lin Sheng’s hand that was lightly touching his face, his voice with a heavy nasal tone, “I’ll just put it here today. If you continue to be so stubborn, I won’t bother with you anymore.”
Lin Sheng pursed his lips and said repressively, “Let’s talk back at the dorm. Don’t stand here in the rain, you’ll catch a cold.”
He put a hand on Qu Minghui’s head, took a deep breath, and rubbed it hard.
Qu Minghui snorted softly, slapped his hand away again, and left first, muttering in a low voice, “I’d like to see what you can say with that mouth. Could it be that you’re secretly dating?”
He frowned and glanced back at Lin Sheng, accidentally meeting Lin Sheng’s meaningful gaze. Those deep eyes were churning with emotions he couldn’t understand.
Qu Minghui turned his head, his heart inexplicably beating fast. What kind of look was that!
He quietly took a breath, subconsciously slowing his pace, walking shoulder to shoulder with Lin Sheng, occasionally looking up to size up his profile.
Remembering the love letter that some female classmate had stuffed under Lin Sheng’s desk a while ago, Qu Minghui frowned even tighter. Was he really dating?
