Chapter Index

    Choose a bride

Wei Shanlian moved very quickly. Within two days, she had already chosen a day and sent the post to Prince Lin’s Mansion.

When Luo Shi brought the news to Baixiangyuan, Joey was still lying on a wicker chair holding a black handkerchief and sunbathing.

Looking at the leisurely appearance of one person and one cat, not to mention that Joey seemed to be taking a nap, Luo Shi was a little hesitant, wondering whether he should tell the matter at this time.

Luo Shi stood aside and hesitated.

Heipa heard the sound of someone coming in early. He held Joey on all fours and put his head on Joey’s shoulder. He looked at Luo Shi standing behind with curiosity and tilted his head.

    “Meow?”

Joey was about to fall asleep in a daze, but when he heard the voice of Hei Pa, he opened his eyes and said, “What’s wrong?”

    “Meow.”

It seems like she has something to do with you.

“Huh?” Joey looked sleepy and turned to look at Luo Shi, “What’s the matter?”

Luo Shi lowered his head and handed the post in his hand to Joey, “The palace just sent it. It said that the Queen Mother invited you to come to the palace in the afternoon to discuss the flower banquet.”

Joey looked at the brown post on Luo Shi’s hand and felt a little headache. Although he had agreed to Wei Shanlian’s marriage selection, it was just something he said casually to deal with Wei Shanlian. Who would have thought that Wei Shanlian would be so concerned about this matter.

Since returning from the palace a few days ago, Wei Shanlian has been going to Prince Lin’s Mansion very frequently to send portraits of noble ladies from various families, for fear that Joey wouldn’t be able to choose the one he likes.

Looking at the post in his hand, Joey thought about the noble ladies he had seen a few days ago. Apart from anything else, at least in the eyes of others, Wei Shanlian seemed to really want to find him a good marriage. Most of the people she chose were either the only daughter of the minister’s family or ladies from aristocratic families. She even chose a few from the Wei family and the Qiao family.

    “Meow.”

Heipa didn’t know what Joey was doing, but he was curious about what Joey was holding, so he stepped on the post and hit one of the names.

Joey took away Hei Pa’s paw and his eyes froze. He looked at the post thoughtfully and tapped the name on it with his finger, Wu Pian Ai. He seemed to have seen this person before, at the Mid-Autumn Palace Banquet a few months ago.

Luo Shi looked at Joey’s thoughtful look and stopped talking. He didn’t say a word and just quietly stepped aside and waited.

    “Knock knock.”

At this moment, there was a knock on the door.

Joey raised his eyes and looked over.

Luo Shi quickly walked over and opened the door. After seeing the person clearly, she paused and said respectfully: “Miss Jiang Er.”

Jiang Qin appeared alone at the door. She nodded casually to Luo Shi, then looked at Joey in the courtyard, “Don’t you want me to come in and sit down?”

Sitting in the familiar pavilion again, Jiang Qin held the black cat in her arms, running one hand along the black cat’s fur, and holding her face with the other hand in boredom. She looked at the posts on the table, then looked at Joey, as if she was a little surprised, “When did the old lady treat you so well that she found these people for you?”

Joey paused while making tea, “Do you know them all?”

Jiang Qin yawned, “It’s okay. I don’t say I know them all, I’ve dealt with almost all of them.”

As the second young lady of the Zhenbei Hou Mansion, social interaction is already a basic skill for Jiang Qin.

    Joey: “Tell me carefully.”

Jiang Qin pointed to one of the names, “Han Wan, seventeen this year, the only daughter of the Minister of Household Affairs. She has two brothers, one in the Ministry of War and one in the Ministry of Household Affairs. She has been doted on by her father and brother since she was a child. She has an arrogant and domineering personality, which is the most annoying.” Pointing to the next one, “LiQishan, sixteen this year, is the second daughter of the Minister of Rites. She has a gentle personality, but is very introverted and does not like to communicate with others.Tan Xiuyi, seventeen, is the second daughter of the Minister of Punishments. She looks very similar to her name. She is fair and delicate, with a cheerful personality, but she talks a bit too much, and…”

Jiang Qin talked about almost everyone on the post, making her mouth dry. After smacking her lips a few times, she continued: “If nothing else, the names on your list are almost all the daughters of important court officials, and they are all in a compromise position. That old lady Wei Changlian is quite good at choosing.”

Joey pushed a cup of hot tea in front of Jiang Qin, “Which one do you think is more suitable?”

“Are you asking me?” Jiang Qin paused in holding the teacup, and she was a little surprised. “Shouldn’t you be asking Lou Ling?”

Jiang Qin didn’t know what happened in the palace that day. Anyway, in the past few days since she came back, whenever she saw the two of them together, the sight of them would make her annoyed.

That’s why Jiang Qin chose to come here today after knowing that Lou Ling had left.Otherwise, she would rather argue with Wei Minrao than step into this courtyard.

Joey’s face was expressionless and his voice had no fluctuations: “The portraits sent a few days ago have now turned to dust and are buried under the plum tree.”

“Hey!” Jiang Qin only thought it was funny, “I’m telling you, if you cut off your sleeves, you’ll cut off your sleeves. It’s not like I don’t know the relationship between you and Lou Ling. Why did you have to hide it in front of me that day?”

    “…”

Joey didn’t answer, just lowered his head and took a sip of tea.

Jiang Qin didn’t dwell on the matter. She glanced at the post again and pointed to one of the names, “If you have to choose, it’s her.”

Joey lowered his head and looked at the name Jiang Qin pointed at. He paused and saw that it was the name he had just taken a fancy to.

“She is the most unpopular concubine in General Pingxi’s Wu Jiao Mansion. Her origin and status in General Pingxi’s Mansion are similar to yours in Qin Mansion in Jiangzhou. She is easier to deal with than others.” Jiang Qin said: “But before that, you can ask her in person. Anyway, it is just a formality. Choose someone with a lower status so that there will be no mistakes and it will be easier to handle.”

Joey was thoughtful, as if considering.

Banxia novel, a lot of fun
