PMWAIAAPM Chapter 22
by VolareChapter 22
Li Yue was frantically shouting on the phone, genuinely wanting to take Tan Zhiyu to see a doctor.
“What’s wrong with you lately! You never make such basic mistakes at work. Jiang Cheng is a person brought in by the investors; what good does it do to offend him? Tan Zhiyu, do you still care about the Three Gold Awards? In the next performance, just stick to the script. I’m going to supervise the whole process!”
Tan Zhiyu’s phone had long been held away from his ear, and before Li Yue finished speaking, he had already stepped into the elevator: “I’m home now; we can discuss this later.”
“Tan! Zhiyu!!——beep beep beep beep——” Li Yue’s words were cut off midway, and a mechanical voice came from the other end of the line.
Li Yue was so angry she was gasping for breath, almost rolling her eyes. Her assistant Xiao Qin handed her a bottle of cold water: “Sister Yue, calm down.”
“Calm down?” Li Yue twisted the cap off and took a sip, glancing outside the van. Several dark luxury cars were pulling up outside the film set, and a large group of people got out: “What’s happening out there?”
“What else? Brother Tan hit Jiang Cheng. That’s the Jiang family’s young master, and it’s the Jiang family’s young lady bringing a doctor over to check on him.” Xiao Qin replied.
“Sigh…..”
The Jiang family is considered one of the most low-key wealthy families in the capital. The heir of the Jiang family is Jiang Cheng’s younger sister, who is also an omega. The Jiang family holds some of the top medical facilities in the country, managing over a dozen hospitals and developing life-extension injections for terminal illnesses, which reportedly cost over 1.8 million each.
Jiang Cheng, however, is the most carefree of the Jiang family; he’s merely a slacker experiencing life in the entertainment industry. Today, after being suddenly beaten, his sister was alarmed and brought the entire family’s medical team over to treat his injuries.
Why does he have to cause trouble…
Thinking of this, Li Yue’s eyelids twitched continually. She felt that Tan Zhiyu seemed to have lost his mind recently.
“Once upon a time, Tan Zhiyu claimed to love his job and regard it seriously; he never made mistakes, but now he arrives late and leaves early. Who’s left to clean up this mess?”
Tan Zhiyu’s fists weren’t harmless; he had once won the runner-up in Muay Thai. Li Yue quickly glanced and saw Jiang Cheng with blood pouring from his nose, and on the other side were the Jiang family.
Xiao Qin looked up and said with a hint of schadenfreude, “Of course, you’ll have to deal with it….”
“Damn it!” Li Yue rubbed her temples, silently pinching her philtrum: “I’m going to tell his parents!”
“But Brother Tan’s parents never show up… would that even help?”
Tan Zhiyu’s mother is a diplomat; she might just send a lawyer to negotiate with the Jiang family.
Li Yue felt a flame of frustration rising in her chest; suddenly, she sat up straight: “I know what to do!”
Xiao Qin curiously asked, “What do you know?”
“I know who to complain to!”
“Who?” Xiao Qin asked, intrigued. Li Yue’s call had already been dialed, and a warm, jade-like low voice came from the other end.
——
Butterfly Manor.
The elevator’s number displayed the ninth floor, and with a ding, the doors slowly opened.
In a two-units-per-floor layout, besides him was Boss Xing. He had expected a hallway full of flowers, not sunflowers, but red roses, spread out in full bloom, waiting for him to return, but unexpectedly, a figure hurriedly walked towards the elevator and bumped straight into him.
“Why are you back?” Xing Yang’s expression was not pleasant, his gaze fixated on Tan Zhiyu’s face, strained with concern.
Tan Zhiyu looked down and noticed he hadn’t even changed his clothes; he was still in the same outfit from the afternoon, holding his car keys, clearly ready to head out.
Boss Xing seemed to have forgotten their date.
Tan Zhiyu’s expression immediately fell; he couldn’t hide the faint feeling of expectation that was dashed in his heart, but it seemed he didn’t have the right to stop him from going out. He brushed past Xing Yang with an annoyed huff, lowering his voice: “Going back to your own home, do you need my permission?”
He scoffed: “It seems Boss Xing is meddling a bit too much.”
The sound of Tan Zhiyu’s footsteps echoed as he walked towards his door, while Boss Xing’s words got stuck in his throat; he opened his mouth but then shut it again.
He knew Tan Zhiyu was in a bad mood; it seemed he got truly angry because of the incident with his family in the afternoon.
Boss Xing suddenly regretted being impulsively attracted to beauty at that moment.
It led to yet another crack in their hard-won relationship.
He became more cautious with his breathing and asked, “Your face… is injured?”
Today, safety measures were in place on set; even if they wanted to show injury, makeup techniques could cover it up. Tan Zhiyu had a slight crack on his brow, showing bruises left from sparring with Jiang Cheng.
“What does that have to do with you?” Tan Zhiyu suddenly turned his head at the door, his expression not looking too good: “Since you’re busy, why bother with me?”
Xing Yang felt a bit baffled.
Furrowing his brow slightly, he asked in confusion: “Why are you angry again?”
He didn’t sound impatient at all and took a step forward, gripping Tan Zhiyu’s hand that was about to turn the knob with an expression full of incomprehension, as if waiting for him to provide some enlightenment.
Tan Zhiyu squinted, a sharp glint flashing in his dark eyes.
A sense of grievance suddenly welled up in his heart; what does this mean?
Wasn’t it agreed that they would have a date at home three hours later? Would he come back to appease him? He had looked forward to this day on the set for so long, even disregarding his agent’s advice to go home directly. But now Boss Xing seemed to have forgotten that he had invited him back; how could he now have the audacity to ask him what he was angry about?
Was he questioning him?
Yes, he was questioning him.
Tan Zhiyu felt a sour pang in his heart, and tears brimmed in his eyes. He pushed Xing Yang’s hand away: “Can you not bother me?”
“Li Jie said you got into a fight on set, and I was just going to check on you. How did you end up fighting with Jiang Cheng….”
“What, did Jiang Cheng call you to complain?” Tan Zhiyu scoffed: “Does Li Yue have that much free time to make this kind of call to you? Does he really think that a marriage certificate makes him my father? On set, my play can be done however I want; if you’re here because I fought Jiang Cheng, you can ask and then leave.”
Li Yue had been his manager for quite a long time; Tan Zhiyu knew her temperament well.
Li Yue wouldn’t have called Xing Yang to complain; it had to be Jiang Cheng who complained, and Boss Xing was feeling sympathetic.
Boss Xing wanted to go out; he must want to check on Jiang Cheng’s injuries.
Pfft. A man like this could forget about dating him for a lifetime!
“Go check on Jiang Cheng; otherwise, you’re just pretending to care here.”
He bit his lip in frustration, turning his back on Xing Yang. He twisted the key several times but couldn’t open the door. In silent fury, he twisted the keyring violently, nearly breaking the hanging charms on it.
Since childhood, he hadn’t suffered such grievances for a long time, being looked down upon and disregarded.
Xing Yang was just like his parents, trapping him in a so-called relationship without loving him.
He hated them all!
The man’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and at the next moment, he finally turned the door, which opened with a click, the metal keyring dropping to the ground with a clear sound.
The keys scattered on the floor like a puddle, reflecting the light from the ceiling chandelier, along with a sea of red inside.
Red roses filled the living room, and the ribs soup in the pot had just been turned off, steaming. Within the intense rose fragrance, there was a warm flow that brought a sense of comfort, which suddenly rushed into his nostrils, leaving Tan Zhiyu momentarily stunned.
Xing Yang took a deep breath, a shallow but forced smile appearing at the corner of his mouth: “Sorry, I… I seem to have upset you again. Is that right?”
“Can you tell me the reason, then let me apologize to you? Mr. Tan.”
Even if he dies, he should understand a few things, right?
