    Chapter 02

Zheng Chaotian’s eyes widened in shock: “When did this happen? How come I didn’t know?!”

Zheng Chaotian is one of the few close friends around Xing Yang. They met during university while filming a documentary about self-made entrepreneurs, with Xing Yang being one of the interviewees. Since then, Zheng Chaotian has been well aware of Xing Yang’s life.

Though he runs a big business, he is actually a boring workaholic—home, gym, office, and back again; it’s been this way for years.

How could someone like Xing Yang suddenly get married?

Xing Yang swirled the wine in his glass, his reflection in the dizzying liquid meeting a pair of forest-green eyes: “The hospital arranged it. We haven’t planned to announce it yet. If he wants to hold a wedding later, I’ll send out invitations to everyone.”

Upon turning 18, an omega’s best match will automatically appear in the hospital’s database; it’s essentially a genetic matchmaking process.

For an omega like Xing Yang, getting married at 28 is already considered late.

The dinner party was not pleasant. As the new investor, Xing Yang inevitably had to socialize. He had a good tolerance and only had slightly flushed cheeks by the end.

“Mr. Xing, do you want me to call a chauffeur for you? Where to?” Xiao Qin asked.

    “19 Tidal Road, Butterfly Manor.”

“Butterfly Manor? What a coincidence, Tan Ge also lives there,” Xiao Qin muttered instinctively.

Xing Yang seemed to regret revealing the address. He rubbed his temples and rasped, “It is quite a coincidence.”

“Most of the real estate in the capital belongs to Mr. Xing, and Butterfly Manor is a new development; it’s normal to bump into each other,” Director Zheng said with a grin. “Don’t bother calling a chauffeur. I’ll take you back; it’s just a matter of pressing the gas.”

    “Okay…”

“Since it’s on the way, Mr. Xing can share my ride.” Tan Zhiyu twirled the car keys with his long fingers. “After all, you are the investor.”

Standing at the hotel entrance, the cold wind seemed to clear Xing Yang’s head, and he nodded lightly: “Then I’ll trouble you.”

The two descended into the underground garage.

A few remaining old executives and Xiao Qin, along with Director Zheng, exchanged glances.

Xiao Qin worriedly asked, “Tan Ge won’t just drop Mr. Xing off halfway, right?”

Tan Zhiyu had never liked such social dinners and had shown his displeasure towards the investors before, which had required Xiao Qin to work hard on public relations.

Zheng Chaotian scratched his head in confusion: “Something feels off.”

But he couldn’t put his finger on it.

In his impression, Xing Yang wasn’t someone who bowed down easily. It felt strange to see him light a cigarette for a film star and then get into his car.

Xiao Qin remarked, “Mr. Xing has a great personality, totally unlike what others say about him being fierce.”

How many young people have made it big in the capital without any skill?

Zheng Chaotian watched the car disappear at the intersection, shaking his head helplessly: “You don’t know; he has had a tough time along the way.”

“Every edge he once had has been smoothed out.”

    Butterfly Manor.

The car drove straight into the underground garage; there were no other cars inside at this time, and the air felt cold, reminiscent of a forest.

Xing Yang’s intoxication hit him late. When his head leaned against the glass, the man next to him suddenly spoke.

“Mr. Xing, hasn’t anyone told you that you should wear patches when you go out? It seems a bit rude to release pheromones in front of others after getting married.”

Tan Zhiyu’s comment caught Xing Yang off guard, reducing his drunkenness a bit. He instinctively touched the warm spot at the back of his neck: “Sorry…”

“I—I forgot I was nearing my heat.”

“Not getting out of the car?” The man furrowed his brows.

“Oh…” Xing Yang belatedly realized: “Thank you, then you should rest early.”

He was just about to open the car door when Tan Zhiyu abruptly added, “Wait.”

    “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Do you still have a backup of my house key?”

Xing Yang was taken aback, pausing before saying, “I do.”

“The key was lost; give me yours.” Tan Zhiyu turned his head, his ears reddening slightly in embarrassment.

Xing Yang chuckled lightly. He rubbed his eyes and brows: “Okay, can you tell me why you were in a bad mood today? Is it because I was late to the dinner, or something else…”

Three months into their marriage, he still couldn’t grasp Tan Zhiyu’s moods.

Tan Zhiyu gritted his teeth, unlocking his phone. A headline splashed across the screen.

His delicate face broke into a huge smile: “Mr. Xing, why not deal with the gossip first? I’m a bit of a clean freak; I don’t like secondhand goods.”

With that, he got out of the car.

This afternoon’s business district news read: “The chairman of Yuanyin Real Estate and Young Master Jiang were seen entering and exiting the hotel together. Young Master Jiang has confirmed intentions of a marriage alliance!”

Xing Yang pressed his lips together. He got out of the car and tried to catch up to explain.

Tan Zhiyu frowned at him as he entered the elevator. The disdain in his eyes seemed undiminished: “Can you not follow me?”

Xing Yang: “…But I live here too.”

“Then take the next elevator!” Tan Zhiyu turned angrily: “Did we not agree on our marriage? What does it mean that you and that guy have something going on? If you can, let him bite you during your heat; I won’t care! I just went out to film, and now you’re already thinking of marrying someone else.”

“That’s not…,” Xing Yang said, feeling overwhelmed. “When we got married, you only asked that it not affect your career, and for mutual interactions during special times. Jiang Cheng is a past collaborator, and he was joking.”

    “Oh.”

As the elevator slowly ascended, Tan Zhiyu’s expression darkened.

When they exited the elevator, Tan Zhiyu saw that after Xing Yang finished explaining, he didn’t even think to appease him!

    He was furious.

Does this guy have no clue?

He doesn’t see that he’s upset?

Come on, last month they were sleeping in the same bed, and now he comes back from filming, totally ignoring him. What’s that supposed to mean?

Nobody in this world can reject Tan Zhiyu!

“I warn you, Xing Yang, put away your little thoughts. If you think you can attract my attention or make me like you with these childish tactics, you can forget it!”

    Xing Yang: “…”

This was the third time he had heard such a statement.

“I…” Forget it, he wouldn’t listen to explanations.

“I’m not interested in your gossip, but I will absolutely not touch someone else’s secondhand goods! Otherwise, you can forget about ever entering my door! Also, our relationship is strictly transactional; outside of sensitive periods or heats, we can’t have any other interactions. Do you understand?!”

    Xing Yang: “…”

He didn’t know what had annoyed this giant infant, but could only nod in agreement: “Okay.”

“You!” Tan Zhiyu nearly rolled his eyes in annoyance.

“You’d better not develop feelings for me, trying to make me jealous with your childish games.”

    Xing Yang: “I haven’t…”

Tan Zhiyu: “I don’t believe you.”

    Xing Yang: “…?”
