PMWAIAAPM Chapter 18
by VolareChapter 18
Tan Zhiyu looked at the sunflowers on the table, his clenched hand bones creaking in anger.
Xiao Qin held a small cake in her hands, not daring to speak. Poor her, wanting to eat that little cake, but now could only watch longingly.
“Brother Tan, how about… I help you throw these flowers away?”
The sunflowers, bright yellow, looked like boring ashes in Tan Zhiyu’s eyes. His little assistant, reading his expression, couldn’t figure out his mood, and could only guess cautiously as she held the bouquet, preparing to find a secluded place to dispose of it.
Tan Zhiyu suddenly turned around in frustration, facing away and softly said, “Forget it, just leave it there.”
His tone was somewhat desolate, and his gaze drifted toward Jiang Cheng’s nanny van, carrying an indescribable longing.
Tan Zhiyu felt suffocated, unable to understand.
Since childhood, he had been surrounded by people wherever he went, enjoying the benefits of his parents’ good looks. For him, winning someone’s affection was as easy as pie. Yet, it was utterly ineffective when it came to Xing Yang, making him doubt his own charm. Was his character really that bad? Did Xing Yang really not feel attracted to him?
Otherwise, why would he send such brilliant sunflowers instead of roses that belonged to him?
He sat quietly for a long time but realized he couldn’t do anything. He watched helplessly as his omega got into another man’s car, while he couldn’t even get a small piece of cake.
Today, he would deduct a hundred points from Boss Xing!
He despised Boss Xing the most!
Assistant Xiao Qin cautiously handed over a tissue: “Brother, quick, use this tissue to wipe your eyes. Or else the tears will ruin your makeup, and you’ll have to redo it… We have to face the camera several times later…”
Tan Zhiyu took the tissue she handed over, silent as he dabbed the corner of his eyes to absorb his tears, his eyes red.
Xiao Qin smartly turned away: “I didn’t see anything. I saw nothing.” She repeated.
“Brother Tan, if you really want to eat it, I can just buy you a piece, right?” Xiao Qin had only been interning for two weeks and was completely unaware of Tan Zhiyu’s private life, having just started to get the hang of it recently.
In her eyes, Tan Zhiyu’s tearful eyes were a result of not getting a piece of cake and being targeted with sunflowers in complete indignation.
Sunflowers, clearly a blooming chrysanthemum; Boss Xing sending this kind of flower was simply blatant harassment! Wasn’t this an implication to coerce Tan Zhiyu into bed? Just because of that dinner a few days ago, the two had left on bad terms, and now Boss Xing was preparing to use his authority to suppress Tan Zhiyu, making him feel ashamed and cry.
Tsk tsk…
The entertainment industry was too complicated and deep.
“What do you think of Xing Yang?” Tan Zhiyu asked sullenly.
“I think—he looks gentle and soft, but after all, he’s a boss in the business world. I suppose he’s not that nice behind the scenes. You know, the real estate industry has been struggling for years, with many firms going bankrupt. Boss Xing, in order to make money, must’ve cut off many financial lifelines. I heard he has offended quite a few people. I guess he’s not as good as he appears on the surface…”
This wasn’t wrong.
The national real estate market was saturated, with a declining population. As the internet gradually rose, the surviving real estate companies were all ruthless in their dealings.
In previous years, there were those driven to suicide by debts, and someone as young as Xing Yang…
In Tan Zhiyu’s impression, he seemed more like a taciturn nouveau riche, a rather unremarkable honest person, someone who had to think it through before speaking with him, making it hard for Tan Zhiyu to imagine what he was like during business negotiations or when employing cunning tactics.
“We won’t hold that against him. After we finish filming today’s scenes, I’ll take you back.”
Tan Zhiyu shook his head, his long fingers fiddling with the script, making little curls in the paper that rustled in the wind.
“Have Lao Chi and them arrived yet?” Tan Zhiyu suddenly asked.
“You mean President Chi? Teacher Jiang was at the set just now, so President Chi must have come too.” Xiao Qin recalled, smiling as she spoke: “President Chi is really a good alpha; every time Teacher Jiang comes for the martial arts guidance, he always accompanies him.”
“Good?” Tan Zhiyu scoffed. “You wouldn’t know when he’s being a beast.”
Saying this, he stood up: “I’m going to take a look at him.”
Tan Zhiyu’s father did financial business domestically and had once collaborated with the Chi family. Tan Zhiyu had considered Chi Yanchuan, the Chi family’s eldest son, a decent friend, but they had rarely interacted since Chi Yanchuan got married.
The son of a financial magnate in the capital, married a fighter of drastically different status, marrying after the woman got pregnant, and it was said they had lost a child. The omega’s gland was removed due to Chi President’s negligence, yet they ended up reconciling. Because of this, Tan Zhiyu didn’t want to associate with Chi Yanchuan anymore.
He thought this man had flawed values, like a fool.
What kind of liking for someone results in a mentality of torturing another person until both mind and body are crippled just for personal satisfaction?
To be honest, back then he hadn’t been married yet, growing up with both parents and having everything he wanted. He hadn’t experienced a painful childhood or a tragic past, so he couldn’t understand why two people could love so intensely. To him, that was insanity; he feared such things would be contagious.
But recently, Tan Zhiyu felt he had contracted a sickness. Just one day without seeing Boss Xing’s seemingly benevolent face made his heart pang as if claws were scratching his lungs.
Yet, Chi Yanchuan still had some conscience, coaxing his wife back, and now their family of three was harmonious. Even his wife, Jiang Ye, was a good-natured person. Currently, Chi Yanchuan wasn’t working and depended on his brother and wife, which was no easy task either.
Jiang Ye, originally a boxer, was brought in for the new movie as a technical advisor, as the FA champion Cheng Xiu had family matters. Thus, Jiang Ye took his place.
Jiang Ye’s boxing skills were impressive, his moves agile, and his tactics excellent, resulting in a visually appealing performance on screen. Tan Zhiyu was quite willing to learn boxing from him. Facing the camera, he was already accustomed to this professionalism, wanting everything to be perfect, especially since his next scene was a fight against Jiang Cheng.
Just imagining that scene felt exhilarating. The image of Jiang Cheng looking pleased flashed through his mind, making him itch with anger.
He needed to practice well, to unleash his frustrations on this foolish man.
