Chapter 38: His Cold and Fierce Alpha

Some people say they want to throw Yu An down, but in reality, they are terrified that the young man will suffer even the slightest harm.

“Xie Jinsheng,” the Omega in his arms spoke after a while, leaning closer to him. “About this morning, I’m sorry. I wasn’t disgusted with you. I was just afraid that Lin Si would find out your identity and hurt you, that’s why I asked those questions.”

The young man’s voice was light and soft.

Xie Jinsheng was stunned for a few seconds.

Was he explaining himself to him?

Never before had a human treated a monster with such respect.

He felt as if something had stroked his heart.

“Knowing that you might have come because of me, I’m very happy,” Yu An said, guaranteeing:

“Also, my family has very conservative views. Before getting married in Main City, we can’t have overly intimate behavior, not even… that. Last night was really an accident. Anyway, I won’t do that again.”

    Xie Jinsheng: “………”

Somehow, those words didn’t sound very pleasing.

“So, can you forgive me?” Yu An paused, then added, “If you still don’t believe me, let’s make a pinky promise. No matter what happens in the old city this time, we can’t abandon each other, okay?”

As he spoke, Yu An held out his hand, wanting to make a pinky promise. But after a few seconds, he suddenly realized that Xie Jinsheng was using both hands to hold him.

Where would a third hand come from to link with his?

“Then let’s not do it. A verbal promise counts too…”

Before he could finish speaking, Yu An felt the man hug him tighter. But the hand that was originally around his back was moving down.

Yu An froze for a few seconds, quickly tightening his grip around Xie Jinsheng’s neck. He staggered a bit, realizing he was now perched on the Alpha’s shoulder.

And the man’s strong left arm was supporting his buttocks.

    Yu An: “…”

He, he just let him sit on him directly??

Yu An’s eyes widened. The sudden change in position made his body tense, and he felt a bit higher up.

Afraid of falling off Xie Jinsheng and into the water, he quickly hugged the other’s neck tightly.

…Although he had known that this tentacled monster’s physical strength was heaven-defying.

But he didn’t expect it to be this heaven-defying!

The cold and fierce Alpha brought to life.

None of the hosts at the Space-Time Bureau had ever seen this before, probably because Xie Jinsheng wasn’t human, so he was different from humans.

In Yu An’s mind, inappropriate thoughts about this type of monster-like gong resurfaced. He heard that in bed, they could come up with 365 days’ worth of different tricks without repeating any…

Not to mention, Xie Jinsheng had so many tentacles.

Yu An realized what he was thinking, froze for a few seconds, and tried to shake off these messy thoughts. But he couldn’t help but tremble a little.

Then he saw Xie Jinsheng reaching out the hand he had freed.

Yu An hadn’t recovered yet and asked in confusion, “What?”

He saw Xie Jinsheng look at him and say softly, “You said, make a pinky promise.”

The Alpha’s pupils were as dark as ink, but now they were shining brightly. Yu An saw his own reflection in his eyes.

    Their breaths were too close.

After a while, he raised his hand and hooked his pinky finger with Xie Jinsheng’s.

Their body temperatures merged in that instant of contact.

Yu An quickly retracted his hand, remembering how he was clinging to Xie Jinsheng, like a flower vine drawing nutrients, wantonly taking root and entwining the Alpha.

    It was extremely embarrassing.

    His eyelashes trembled several times.

    “Unsteady?” Xie Jinsheng asked.

Yu An was about to speak.

Then, he felt the man switch back to the original holding position.

The whole process was smooth and effortless, as if he had held him many times before, making him feel stable and secure.

For the rest of the journey, Yu An didn’t say a word, the tips of his ears burning.

He shouldn’t be so sensitive, but he could still feel the lingering sensation of the arm that had touched him.

Even Xie Jinsheng’s breath, his clear and cold aura, suddenly became very present, making it impossible to ignore.

Yu An paused, then suddenly said with a serious face, “System 089, I’ve decided I’m never reading those little x novels again.”

    System: [Huh?]

“Reading too much can easily lead to twisted thoughts.”

It wasn’t until he was put down after crossing the river that Yu An felt his strangeness dissipate and his body belong to him again.

After a while, he saw the other members of the team arrive one after another. But after the Alphas arrived, they all collapsed on the ground to rest.

That’s right, the river water was so bone-chilling.

Walking for so long must have hurt their legs.

Thinking of this, Yu An suddenly became a little worried about Xie Jinsheng. He turned to look and saw the man also lying on the ground.

“Are you okay?” He quickly walked over and crouched beside him, his soft fingertips touching his legs.

    They were ice-cold.

    Could they be frozen?

His eyebrows furrowed, and he looked a little anxious. Then he saw Xie Jinsheng looking at him calmly and saying softly, “Don’t you want me to hide my strength?”

So, he pretended to be like the other Alphas.

“…” Yu An retracted his hand, belatedly remembering that Xie Jinsheng was a cold-blooded animal, and his body temperature was inherently unstable. He breathed a sigh of relief.

Xie Jinsheng said, “You, worried about me?”

Yu An paused for a few seconds, feeling his cheeks heat up under his gaze. He subconsciously denied, “You, you’re thinking too much! How could I be worried about you!”

The man was a tentacled monster, and one of the soft-bodied creatures he used to be afraid of. He wasn’t that worried about him.

“Oh?” Xie Jinsheng said, his deep eyes fixed on him.

“…” Crap, he seemed to have forgotten something important.

Only after Yu An finished speaking did he remember his wife persona. He quickly tried to salvage the situation, saying softly, “I misspoke just now. I am very worried about you, because you… are a very important person to me.”

    “Oh.”

Xie Jinsheng responded without much emotion.

    But his eyes were gentle.

Hearing the Omega admit that he was worried about him actually made him feel genuinely happy.

Feng Shu checked the members. Everyone was present, so he led them forward.

In the distance, they could see the bronze walls used to resist the infected from the previous century.

    They looked somewhat precarious.

Several flags were planted by the city gates, indicating that the members of Team One and Team Two had already arrived. This morning, Lin Si had taken people ahead to scout the way for the safety of the team. They should already be inside waiting for them.

“Be careful when we enter the city later. Everyone, be careful not to get separated. Tell Xiaoxi in time if you feel unwell,” Feng Shu said, walking in front of the team.

“Yes, remember to tell me,” Ling Xiaoxi said.

The team members responded in unison.

Their final destination was the cathedral in the center of the city.

The energy ball was stored inside. Once they got it, they could return to the train the same way.

    But—

[Host, do you feel like it’s gloomy here?] System 089 shivered.

    Yu An also felt strange.

    It was too quiet.

And even though the sun looked good from the outside, it felt like the sky had darkened a lot after entering the city.

Even the surrounding fog had become thicker.

It was like a ghost town.

    Easily sucking people in.

In an unintentional turn of his head, Yu An saw a figure dancing unknowingly inside through the window glass of an abandoned house.
