Chapter 95: Wanting to Hold You
Lian Xun woke up again to find himself in an unfamiliar room. Judging from the layout, it wasn’t a hospital, and it certainly wasn’t the Lian Family Manor/Estate.
*Crap*, had he been captured again?
He sat up with a start and got out of bed. Suddenly, he heard footsteps outside. Lian Xun hurriedly lay back down, closing his eyes and pretending to be asleep.
The person came to Lian Xun and sat down beside the bed, remaining silent.
Lian Xun vaguely felt the other person’s gaze fixed on him, but he didn’t dare open his eyes to check.
“You’ve been asleep all day. When exactly are you going to wake up?”
The familiar voice reached his ears, and Lian Xun’s eyelashes fluttered as his whole body tensed.
That voice… he wasn’t mistaken, was he?
Just as doubt filled his mind, the voice spoke again.
“Lian Xun, baby, wife, can you wake up and look at me?”
“I’m so useless, constantly saying I want to protect you, but I still let you get hurt like this. Are you going to blame me?”
With each sorrowful and self-reproaching word, Lian Xun suddenly felt a drop of hot liquid fall on the back of his hand. He slowly opened his eyes and said, “Qi Luzhi, I would never blame you.”
Qi Luzhi suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with joy. “You’re awake?”
Lian Xun supported himself on the bed, trying to sit up. Qi Luzhi quickly helped him up, asking with concern, “Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere? Dizzy? Hungry? Do you want some water?”
His long-lost lover was right in front of him, caring for him as he always had. A great sense of grievance suddenly welled up in Lian Xun’s heart. He pouted and leaned forward to hug Qi Luzhi’s neck tightly.
Qi Luzhi was taken aback, but he readily wrapped his arms around Lian Xun.
In their first embrace after surviving a life-or-death ordeal, they both used all their strength, as if trying to meld each other into their very bones.
“Lian Xun, you scared me to death, you know? From now on, don’t even think about leaving me for half a step.” Thinking about it now, Qi Luzhi still felt lingering fear.
Lian Xun nestled on Qi Luzhi’s shoulder, his heart filled with remorse. “I’m sorry, I made you worry.”
“What are you apologizing for? You didn’t do anything wrong.” Qi Luzhi patted Lian Xun’s back and said softly, “Okay, let’s eat first. You’ve been asleep for so long; you must be hungry.”
“No.” Lian Xun tightened his arms around Qi Luzhi, unwilling to part.
“What’s wrong?” Qi Luzhi asked.
“Nothing, I just want to hold you, I want to hold you like this forever.”
On the ship, although he was constantly thinking about Qi Luzhi, telling himself again and again that he had to escape alive, he had no confidence at all. He was scared to death, afraid that he would never see Qi Luzhi again.
Now that he could hold him in his arms again, truly feeling the other person’s warmth, Lian Xun felt like everything was as blissfully unreal as a dream.
“Okay, the food will get cold if we don’t eat. Let’s eat first, okay? I’ll feed you.”
Qi Luzhi was worried about Lian Xun’s health, so even though he was reluctant to let go of Lian Xun’s embrace, he forcefully moved his arms away.
While eating, Lian Xun looked around at the exquisitely decorated villa and asked Qi Luzhi, “Qi Luzhi, where is this place?”
Qi Luzhi didn’t seem to want to mention it and put another spoonful of rice to Lian Xun’s mouth, evasively saying, “It’s a safe place. Don’t ask too much, just focus on recovering.”
Lian Xun didn’t doubt him and obediently said “Oh.”
After the meal, Qi Luzhi brought medicine to nourish his body and made him take it.
At this moment, Gao Jingqian came in from outside, carrying a thermal food container in his hand. Seeing that Lian Xun had woken up, he happily approached and asked, “Ah Xun, you’re finally awake. How do you feel?”
Lian Xun looked surprised. “Gao Jingqian, why are you here too?”
“Oh, this is a house I just bought a few months ago. Lian Feng probably doesn’t know you’re not dead yet. For your safety, I’ll put you here for now,” Gao Jingqian explained with a smile.
“I see. Thank you, Gao Jingqian.”
Lian Xun turned to look at Qi Luzhi, feeling utterly shocked.
These two used to bicker whenever they met. Now, they were peacefully under the same roof. It was truly bizarre.
Qi Luzhi snorted coldly and glared at Gao Jingqian without saying a word.
If it hadn’t been to find Lian Xun as quickly as possible, he wouldn’t have wanted anything to do with this person.
Gao Jingqian ignored Qi Luzhi’s unfriendly gaze and came to Lian Xun, opened the food container, and poured out a bowl of soup to hand to Lian Xun.
“Ah Xun, I specially asked someone to make this soup for you. It’s good for healing wounds. Have some.”
“Ah, okay, thank you, Gao Jingqian.”
Lian Xun had just reached out when Qi Luzhi stopped him. “I’ll do it.”
Qi Luzhi warned Gao Jingqian with his eyes to stand back, then took the bowl from his hand and deliberately fed Lian Xun spoonful by spoonful in front of him.
Gao Jingqian’s mouth twitched slightly, and he glared fiercely at Qi Luzhi.
With this unwelcome guest guarding him, there was no way he could get close to Lian Xun. So, he told Lian Xun to take care of himself and then left.
After Gao Jingqian left, Lian Xun smiled and teased Qi Luzhi, “It’s been so long, and you’re still jealous of him?”
Qi Luzhi put the bowl on the table, looking displeased. “I just can’t stand his eager appearance. He’s still thinking about you even now, with his impossible dreams. It’s wishful thinking.”
“Oh, Gao Jingqian doesn’t have any bad intentions, and you know my heart is all yours, so why bother arguing with him…”
Seeing Qi Luzhi’s expression change, Lian Xun immediately changed his tune, “Uh… I mean, I’ll try to avoid him as much as possible in the future.”
“That’s more like it.” The corners of Qi Luzhi’s lips curved into a satisfied smile.
Lian Xun was speechless. Why was Qi Luzhi getting more and more childish, like a little kid?
In the following days, Lian Xun hid in Gao Jingqian’s house to recuperate in peace. Qi Luzhi was responsible for taking care of him, and Gao Jingqian was responsible for gathering information about the Lian family’s movements from the outside.
He heard that Lian Feng had been temporarily managing the Lian Corporation recently, and Lian Yishan hadn’t been seen for a long time.
This matter was strange. Before finding out the details, both Qi Luzhi and Gao Jingqian prevented Lian Xun from rashly returning to the Lian Family Manor/Estate.
What Qi Luzhi said about not letting Lian Xun leave him for half a step was truly meant literally.
From the moment Lian Xun woke up, whether it was eating, sleeping, bathing, or going to the restroom, Qi Luzhi followed him every step of the way.
The other things were fine, but having someone watch him during such a private matter as going to the restroom was something Lian Xun couldn’t accept.
After several rounds of tug-of-war, Qi Luzhi finally compromised, agreeing to stand guard at the door.
But every time he came out after relieving himself and saw Qi Luzhi standing like a guardian at the restroom door, Lian Xun still felt quite uncomfortable.
He couldn’t help but complain, “Qi Luzhi, I’m not a criminal. You don’t need to watch me so closely, do you?”
Qi Luzhi put on that sorrowful and self-reproaching expression again, looking at Lian Xun. “I’m just afraid of losing you again.”
Lian Xun’s heart softened. He stepped forward and hugged Qi Luzhi, kissing his forehead tenderly.
“Don’t worry, Qi Luzhi. After we’ve dealt with everything here, I’ll go back to the country with you. We’ll never be apart again.”
