Chapter 38: Call Me “Wife” and Let Me Hear It

Qi Luzhi wrapped his arms around Lian Xun’s waist and retorted, “What? Did you just manage to win me back, and now you want to get rid of me again?”

Although it was said in a joking tone, Lian Xun could tell that Qi Luzhi really cared.

How long had he struggled internally before deciding to be with him again?

“I won’t anymore. I won’t ever leave you again, and you’re not allowed to leave me either.”

    “Okay.”

As the clouds parted, revealing the moon, the two who had reaffirmed their relationship hugged for a long, long time by the bustling street, neither willing to let go first.

    “Grumble—”

    Lian Xun’s stomach protested.

“Boyfriend, I’m hungry,” Lian Xun called out naturally.

Qi Luzhi released him, a hint of red creeping up his ears. “Ahem, let’s go home.”

    “Mm.”

Lian Xun smiled, took Qi Luzhi’s hand, and intertwined their fingers.

After dinner, the sky had already darkened. Qi Luzhi sat on one side of the sofa, Lian Xun lay on his lap, each dealing with work on their phones, chatting intermittently.

“That… can you not go back today?” Lian Xun tentatively asked.

They had only just reaffirmed their relationship, and it still didn’t feel real to him. He really didn’t want to separate so soon.

    “No,” Qi Luzhi answered decisively.

“Why?” Lian Xun sat up, frowning in displeasure. “But I want you to be with me.”

Qi Luzhi put down his phone and surveyed the small living room. “Do you want to keep living in this small apartment?”

Lian Xun was stunned for two seconds, then his face lit up with joy. “I don’t want to. Can I move in and live with you?”

Qi Luzhi helplessly glared at him. “You can’t!”

Lian Xun chuckled and quickly jumped off the sofa, running towards the bedroom. “Brother Qi, wait for me! I’ll go pack my luggage right away.”

    “Slow down, I’ll help you.”

Qi Luzhi followed, a long-lost happy smile spreading across his face.

Lian Xun didn’t have much. Only some clothes and daily necessities were his own. He had rented the apartment furnished, so all the furniture belonged to the landlord. Although some things were missing or broken, Lian Xun was too lazy to replace them and just made do with living alone.

The broken water pipe had been repaired, but many things had been waterlogged and were moldy. After throwing away the damaged items, there wasn’t much left.

The bedding, which he had bought new a few months ago, was too bulky and cumbersome, so Lian Xun didn’t plan to take it. He wouldn’t need it at Qi Luzhi’s villa anyway.

In less than half an hour, the luggage was packed, and it could all be packed into one suitcase.

Lian Xun couldn’t help but lament that in this vast Xuan Cheng, only this small suitcase of things belonged to him.

But now, Qi Luzhi was also his, and that put him more at ease than owning the whole world.

“Let’s return this house,” Qi Luzhi said, taking the suitcase from Lian Xun’s hand.

He didn’t want Lian Xun to suddenly run back one day; he had to nip it in the bud.

“But there are still six months left on the lease, and I’ve already paid the rent.”

Although it wasn’t much money, Lian Xun still felt a little heartache. He wasn’t as wealthy as before, and he had a company to support. Saving a little where he could was a good thing.

Qi Luzhi: “It’s okay, I’ll compensate you.”

    “That’s not what I meant.”

Oh well, he probably wouldn’t come back to live here anyway, so he should just return it.

The landlord lived on the first floor, and Lian Xun quickly completed the handover procedures and got into Qi Luzhi’s car.

Before leaving, Lian Xun finally remembered his neglected ride. Since moving in with Qi Luzhi, he hadn’t driven his own car at all, leaving it in the garage.

“I’ll go drive my car,” Lian Xun said, unbuckling his seatbelt and opening the door to get out.

Qi Luzhi grabbed his wrist and closed the door again. “Leaving it there for a few more days won’t hurt. We can move it when we have time.”

Lian Xun looked at Qi Luzhi and playfully curled his lips. “Can’t even bear to be separated from me for a moment?”

    “Mm.”

Qi Luzhi nodded, looking serious, which made Lian Xun feel embarrassed.

In the end, Lian Xun didn’t drive his car away and returned to the villa with Qi Luzhi.

Qi Luzhi had originally wanted Lian Xun to live in the master bedroom with him, and the suitcase had already been dragged to the door, but he stopped.

He still had to ask Lian Xun what he wanted. What if he was used to living in the guestroom and wanted to continue living there?

Lian Xun followed behind Qi Luzhi, and when he saw Qi Luzhi stop at the bedroom door, his heart skipped a beat.

Could it be that Qi Luzhi didn’t want him to live in the master bedroom?

That was normal. Although they were together now, habits couldn’t be changed overnight.

Qi Luzhi: “Which room do you… like to live in? Choose for yourself.”

Lian Xun’s inner thoughts: He really doesn’t want to live with me.

    “The original guestroom is fine.”

“…Okay,” Qi Luzhi said, feeling unhappy, but he obediently pushed the suitcase into the guestroom.

After all, they were a couple now, and he had to respect Lian Xun’s choices and prioritize his feelings.

In the evening, Qi Luzhi and Lian Xun lay in their respective rooms, separated by a wall, each with their own thoughts.

Lian Xun couldn’t sleep, so he took out his phone and sent a message to Qi Luzhi:

    [Lian Xun: Are you asleep?]

    [Qi Luzhi: Nope!]

    [Lian Xun: I can’t sleep.]

Two minutes later, the guestroom door was opened, and Qi Luzhi entered wearing a bathrobe. He walked to the bed and poked Lian Xun. “Move over a bit.”

Lian Xun scooted over, making room for Qi Luzhi. Qi Luzhi climbed into bed, and Lian Xun naturally snuggled into his arms.

    So comfortable!

    For both of them!

“What are you doing here?” Lian Xun asked knowingly.

“Aren’t you unable to sleep? As your boyfriend, I’m here to chat with you.”

Lian Xun planted a kiss on Qi Luzhi’s lips. “You’re the best boyfriend.”

After cuddling for a while, Lian Xun suddenly propped himself up on his elbow, looking down at Qi Luzhi with a serious expression. “I suddenly thought of something very important.”

    “What is it?”

“We’re together now, shouldn’t you change the way you address me? I don’t like you calling me by my full name.”

Qi Luzhi pondered for a moment. “What do you like then? Baby? Darling?”

Lian Xun shook his head, getting closer to Qi Luzhi, the mischievous smile on his face impossible to suppress.

“Call me ‘wife’ and let me hear it?”

Qi Luzhi’s ears immediately turned red. He reached out and pressed Lian Xun into his arms. “Have some shame.”

    “Just say it, Husband~”

That “husband” made Qi Luzhi’s whole body go numb, his heart itching like ants were gnawing at his bones.

He rolled over, trapping Lian Xun beneath him, preventing him from spouting any more shockingly provocative and heart-stirring nonsense.

After the passionate moment, Lian Xun fell asleep from exhaustion. Qi Luzhi played with Lian Xun’s hair, his lips moving as he softly uttered two words, “Wi…fe.”

    “Wife!”

Lian Xun’s eyelashes fluttered in his sleep, and the hand clutching the blanket quietly tightened.

As the end of the year approached, the company would be on holiday in less than two weeks. The project was progressing smoothly, and there were no urgent matters to handle. Qi Luzhi and Lian Xun simply took a vacation, dumping all the pre-holiday work on Li Yang.

Their informant had discovered that Uncle Chen had appeared in Z City, and they planned to try their luck and find him.
