Chapter 93: A Real Man Knows When to Yield

Thanks to Qi Luzhi’s efforts, Lian Xun finally had a chance to catch his breath.

After several days of recuperation, his body regained some strength.

One afternoon, after lunch, Lian Xun seized the opportunity to strike up a conversation with the lackey feeding him. “Hey, what’s your name?”

The lackey looked wary. “What do you want?”

Lian Xun smiled. “Nothing. I’m just bored. Let’s chat.”

After a moment’s hesitation, the lackey said, “My name is Mu Shan, and the other one is Bei Qi. We both started following Boss last year.”

Lian Xun thought, after only one question, he rattled off so much. This little brother is really honest.

He tentatively made a request, “Um… Brother Mu Shan, could you please take off the blindfold for me?”

“No, no, absolutely not!” Mu Shan shook his head repeatedly.

“Please, I beg you, untie me. Anyway, my hands and feet are tied, I can’t run away.” Lian Xun pleaded. “Just untie me, please. It’s so dark all the time. I’m really scared.”

A real man knows when to yield; sometimes, you have to admit defeat appropriately.

He put on such a pitiful act that Mu Shan felt a pang of sympathy and hesitated, “Well… alright then.”

As the black cloth was removed, Lian Xun felt a blinding white light flood his vision, making him unable to open his eyes.

Having been deprived of sunlight for so long, it took him a while to adjust before he could finally open his eyes and experience the long-lost light.

He secretly assessed his current situation. As expected, he was on a dilapidated fishing boat. The cabin was covered in rust, as if it hadn’t been used in ages.

Looking through the small window, the sea and sky met in a single line, stretching endlessly without a trace of land.

However, he could make and receive calls here, so he shouldn’t be too far from land. Unfortunately, he couldn’t move right now and couldn’t investigate the full surroundings of the fishing boat.

Lian Xun chatted with Mu Shan for a while, even threatening to kill himself if Mu Shan didn’t get him some medicine for his wounds.

His life was worth hundreds of millions now, so Mu Shan dared not neglect him and had to do as he asked.

Lian Xun didn’t know how far Qi Luzhi was in his deal with the head of the kidnappers, but he knew he couldn’t just sit here and wait for death.

He had to eat well, heal his injuries, and find a chance to escape.

    Xuan Cheng.

Li Yang heard that Qi Luzhi suddenly wanted to sell all of his company shares at a low price and cursed on the spot in anger. “Are you crazy? Are you just giving away so many years of hard work? How can you do this to Sheng Shao Group, to me?”

Qi Luzhi calmly explained the reason. “I need to save Lian Xun.”

He had already sold almost all of his assets.

    Houses, cars, stocks… everything.

    Except for that Villa.

To liquidate everything as quickly as possible, he set the prices so low that the buyers even thought he was a scammer, but he didn’t care at all. As long as he could get the money in hand, anything would do.

Li Yang looked at him, heartbroken. “Why didn’t you tell me about something so big sooner? We could have helped you. Besides, even if it’s to save Lian Xun, you don’t have to bankrupt yourself, right? It breaks my heart to see you selling everything off like this.”

“Then what do you want me to do? Watch Lian Xun die?” Qi Luzhi roared.

Li Yang was taken aback and quickly tried to soothe him. “Don’t get so worked up. There’s still time. Maybe we’ll find Lian Xun in a couple of days…”

“What if we don’t find him? I can’t gamble. I need Lian Xun alive, even if it means giving up everything I have.”

Qi Luzhi’s attitude was resolute. Knowing he couldn’t be dissuaded, Li Yang could only buy most of the shares within his capacity. He also helped Qi Luzhi find suitable buyers for the rest.

Soon, the five-day deadline arrived, and the head of the kidnappers called on time. “Is the money ready?”

“It’s ready, but I can only give you three hundred million.” Qi Luzhi said in a deep voice, “I need to see the person before I give you the remaining two hundred million.”

“Hmph, you’re negotiating with me? Aren’t you afraid I’ll throw your little darling into the sea to feed the fish right away?”

Qi Luzhi chuckled lightly and continued calmly, “You took the money last time but didn’t release anyone. I have to be careful this time, right?”

“Here’s the deal. You set the location, and I’ll pay the full amount as soon as I see him. You’re a smart man, you should understand that besides me, you’ll never get such a generous ransom in your life.”

The head of the kidnappers thought about it carefully and agreed.

Qi Luzhi was offering too much. He no longer cared about Lian Feng’s small change.

Temporarily stalling the kidnappers, Qi Luzhi immediately called to inquire about the situation overseas. “Still no news?”

“No. To protect the safety of the hostage, the police can’t conduct a large-scale search. Don’t worry, we will find him.”

    Qi Luzhi was almost desperate.

For the first time in twenty-odd years, he felt so powerless, so resentful of his own incompetence.

If anything really happened to Lian Xun, he would never forgive himself.

The agreed location was overseas, and it would take time for Qi Luzhi to get there.

So, there were only twenty-four hours left!

Early in the morning, a light mist permeated the sea surface, and heavy clouds piled up in the sky, as if a heavy rain could pour down at any moment.

Inside the dilapidated cabin, Mu Shan and Bei Qi were dozing off against the wall. Lian Xun’s eyes darted around, and he lowered his voice to call out, “Mu Shan, Mu Shan, come here for a second.”

Mu Shan rubbed his sleepy eyes, yawning, “What’s wrong?”

“I need to use the restroom. Untie the ropes on my feet.” Lian Xun said with a flattering smile.

“Oh.” Mu Shan walked over without any precautions and bent down to untie the ropes.

These past few days, Lian Xun had been very obedient. Even when his ropes were untied, he didn’t run away, so Mu Shan was very confident this time as well.

    “Okay, I’ll help you up.”

Mu Shan was holding the untied rope and was about to stand up when a sharp glint suddenly flashed in Lian Xun’s eyes. He used a scissor leg takedown to lock Mu Shan’s throat and throw him to the ground. Then, he scrambled to his feet and rushed towards the door.

Bei Qi instantly noticed the commotion and immediately got up to chase after him.

A corner of the rusty iron door was broken off and very sharp, which could be used to cut the ropes on his hands. This was the best plan Lian Xun had found after observing for a long time.

He frantically rubbed the ropes against the broken part of the iron door, using so much force that the tender skin on his wrists was accidentally scraped, causing small streaks of blood to seep out.

Bei Qi and Mu Shan quickly caught up. Lian Xun dodged the sticks they swung at him and kicked them both to the ground with two flying kicks.

At the same moment, the ropes on his hands snapped. Lian Xun rubbed his numb and sore wrists, a familiar, devilish smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.

“It’s time for this young master to make a move.”

With his hands and feet free, Lian Xun’s fighting power exploded. The two lackeys were no match for him and were beaten unconscious in minutes.

Lian Xun, remembering that Mu Shan had taken relatively good care of him these past few days, didn’t deal a fatal blow and only knocked them out.

After tying the two of them together, he didn’t linger. He grabbed a lifebuoy from the corner and burst out of the door, only to run straight into the head of the kidnappers, who had just returned.

    Both of them were shocked.

The head of the kidnappers widened his eyes and ordered the group of lackeys behind him fiercely, “Catch him! Don’t let him get away!”
