Chapter Index

Qi Luzhi put down his luggage, slowly got up, his movements as light as a cat, “Don’t make a sound, I’ll go take a look.”

    “I’ll go too.”

The two of them walked silently towards the stairs, one in front of the other, their footsteps so light that they were almost inaudible.

Lian Xun followed closely behind Qi Luzhi, his heart pounding.

The higher they went, the clearer the sound became, as if something was being rummaged through in the room, and occasionally they could hear slight collision sounds.

“The sound seems to be coming from the walk-in closet.” Lian Xun whispered, his voice strained, reminding Qi Luzhi.

Qi Luzhi nodded slightly, his expression serious. He slowed down his pace and subconsciously reached out his arm, shielding Lian Xun behind him.

The door of the walk-in closet was ajar, the lights were off, and it was dark inside. Only a faint ray of light could be seen through the crack in the door.

Qi Luzhi took a deep breath and slowly pushed open the door. The scene before him startled both him and Lian Xun.

The drawers were wide open, and the watches, ties, belts, and other items inside were scattered all over the floor, creating a mess.

Lian Xun widened his eyes and exclaimed, “Wow, a thief really broke in?”

But that didn’t make sense. All the valuables were there. If it was really a thief, there was no reason not to take them.

Qi Luzhi followed the faint sound to the closet, opened the door, and couldn’t help but be surprised.

In the corner of the closet, a furry little head was cautiously poking out, its round little eyes looking at him warily, its gaze full of fear.

“What’s that?” Lian Xun stepped forward and examined it carefully for a while, his eyes widening in surprise.

    “A monkey, Monkey Bro?”

The furry little creature in the corner was clearly a baby macaque monkey. Its eyes were round, like two black gemstones, and its small body was curled up in the corner, shivering.

Qi Luzhi turned around to turn on the light, and Lian Xun could see more clearly. The little macaque’s fur was golden, making it look especially cute in the light.

“Oh my god, this is so cute!”

Lian Xun was instantly charmed. He couldn’t help but reach out to touch its head, but the little macaque shrank back and let out a sharp cry, as if warning him not to approach.

Qi Luzhi quickly grabbed him, his voice with a hint of urgent concern, “Don’t scare it, be careful it bites.”

He cautiously approached the little macaque, his eyes gentle and wary, afraid of scaring the little fellow.

The little macaque looked warily at Qi Luzhi’s outstretched hand, but did not make any attacking movements.

Qi Luzhi’s fingers gently touched the little macaque’s fur, its body trembled slightly, but soon calmed down.

Lian Xun also gently stroked the little macaque’s head, its fur soft and smooth, feeling very good to the touch.

The two of them carried the little macaque back to the Living Room, placed it on the coffee table, found some food for it, and then looked at each other, discussing how to deal with this uninvited guest.

“Let’s keep it, this cute little guy must be very well-behaved.” Lian Xun couldn’t help but tease the little macaque, his eyes full of love.

“No.” Qi Luzhi frowned, his expression serious, “It’s illegal to keep monkeys privately.”

He had just observed that the window of the walk-in closet was open, and the little monkey probably climbed in from there.

Behind the villa was an undeveloped mountain forest, which might be the little monkey’s home.

It should be released back into the wild.

Lian Xun’s face instantly fell. He looked at the little macaque, his eyes full of reluctance, “But it’s so small, can it survive on its own?”

“It belongs to nature, you don’t have to worry.” Qi Luzhi squatted down and gently touched the little macaque’s head, “Let’s feed it first, and then find a safe place to release it.”

“Okay then.” Lian Xun pouted and reluctantly agreed.

After the little macaque finished eating the biscuit, it seemed to relax a little. It jumped around on the sofa, curiously looking at this unfamiliar environment.

“Okay, little fellow, it’s time to go home.”

Lian Xun found a piece of clothing he didn’t wear and gently picked up the little macaque. The two of them came outside the villa, found a slightly spacious place, and put it down.

The little macaque jumped a few times on the grass, then turned around and looked at them, as if saying goodbye, and then disappeared into the woods.

“Goodbye, little fellow, don’t just run into other people’s houses in the future, not everyone is as kind as me.”

Lian Xun murmured softly, his eyes with a hint of reluctance.

Qi Luzhi gently took his hand, “Let’s go, let’s go home.”

The two returned home and closed the door, but Lian Xun’s heart was still concerned about the little macaque.

    At night.

There was a pattering sound of rain outside the window, seemingly mixed with low sobs.

Lian Xun raised his head from Qi Luzhi’s arms, perked up his ears and listened for a while, and shook Qi Luzhi’s arm, “Listen, there seems to be a sound outside.”

Qi Luzhi lifted his eyelids, “You must be hearing things.”

“No, there really is a sound.”

Lian Xun jumped out of bed, walked to the window, and with a swish, opened the curtains.

Outside the window, the soaked little fellow was curled up on the edge of the windowsill, its furry little head pressed against the glass, pitifully looking into the room.

    It was that little macaque.

    “Wow, it’s back again!”

Lian Xun was surprised and happy. He quickly opened the window, and the little macaque jumped in at once, its body wet, its fur sticking to its body, looking particularly pitiful.

“Brother Qi, it’s raining outside, why don’t we just take it in for a while.”

Lian Xun turned to look at Qi Luzhi on the bed, his eyes pleading, “A malou’s life is also a life, we can’t just watch it freeze to death outside.”

Qi Luzhi lifted the blanket and got out of bed, walked up to Lian Xun, looked at the pitiful appearance of the little macaque in his arms, and sighed: “If you like it so much, then keep it for now.”

“Okay, then I’ll give it a bath first, otherwise it will get sick.”

Lian Xun walked towards the bathroom with the little macaque in his arms, looking very excited.

Qi Luzhi shook his head helplessly, a doting smile on his lips.

Lian Xun filled a basin with warm water and gently put the little macaque into the water. It was a little scared at first, but soon it started splashing around in the warm water, as if it liked the feeling very much.

Qi Luzhi watched at the bathroom door, the little macaque was very naughty, splashing water all over Lian Xun.

He raised his eyebrows slightly, a hint of disgust on his face, “You really have patience.”

Lian Xun raised his head and smiled brightly, “Let’s keep it, okay?”

“I don’t like small animals.” Qi Luzhi frowned and sighed again, “And I said, it’s a national protected animal, you can’t keep it, it’s against the law.”

“But, it seems to have no home, it’s so pitiful.” Lian Xun couldn’t bear to put it back.

Meeting once is an accident, meeting twice, why isn’t it a kind of fate.

“I don’t care, I just want to keep it, can you help me think of a way?”

Lian Xun looked up at Qi Luzhi, his innocent eyes particularly endearing.
