Chapter 63: The Only Person I’ll Marry Is You

Qi Luzhi smelled the overwhelming scent of jealousy and, disregarding everything else, lifted his leg to chase after the direction Lian Xun had left.

“CEO Qi, where are you rushing off to?” An Jinnan grabbed Qi Luzhi’s sleeve, unwilling to let him leave.

It was already so difficult to meet, and they hadn’t even exchanged a few words. How could she let him leave just like that?

Qi Luzhi’s gaze fell on the distorted sleeve of his suit where she was gripping, and he slowly raised his eyes. The look he gave An Jinnan was as cold as ice, faintly tinged with disgust.

An Jinnan suddenly felt goosebumps rise on her back and subconsciously released her hand.

“I apologize, I have other matters to attend to. Excuse me.”

Qi Luzhi casually made up an excuse to dismiss An Jinnan, then turned and hurriedly left.

An Jinnan gazed at his aloof and alluring back. Far from feeling embarrassed or annoyed by the rejection, her interest only intensified.

From birth, she had been a favored child of fortune, blessed with outstanding looks and a privileged background. Furthermore, she was innately ambitious and excelled in every way compared to her peers.

Since childhood, many men had fawned over her, but she disliked their flattery.

    She found it hypocritical.

This was the first time a man had treated her with such composure, even to the point of completely disregarding her.

This made her feel incredibly novel and intrigued, and a desire for conquest subtly stirred in her heart.

“Qi Luzhi, you will be mine sooner or later.” An Jinnan murmured to herself, appearing determined to have her way.

Qi Luzhi searched the entire exhibition hall but still couldn’t find Lian Xun’s figure. He stopped at a corridor corner and irritably loosened his tie.

He had only been delayed by An Jinnan for such a short while, and Lian Xun had already vanished without a trace.

“CEO Qi, would you do me the honor of having dinner together?”

A strange, sarcastic voice came from behind him. Qi Luzhi turned around and saw Lian Xun leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. His face wore his trademark smile, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes.

Qi Luzhi chuckled helplessly and slowly walked forward, taking Lian Xun’s hand and gently placing a kiss on the back of it.

“You saw it too. I have absolutely no relationship with Chairman An’s daughter. There’s no need to be so jealous. It’s not worth it to upset yourself.”

“Before today, I didn’t even know who she was.”

Qi Luzhi was now deeply regretting that he hadn’t thrown those damned invitations into the trash earlier.

Lian Xun knew that Qi Luzhi wasn’t uttering a single falsehood, but he still couldn’t shake off the anger in his heart. “Look at them, they’re clearly trying to arrange a marriage with you.”

He had a strong premonition that this An Jinnan would definitely not be as easy to deal with as Li Yu.

No one could remain calm when they saw someone else coveting their partner. Lian Xun huffed and turned his head away, deliberately ignoring Qi Luzhi.

These days, he dared to throw little tantrums in front of Qi Luzhi whenever and wherever he pleased.

Qi Luzhi’s eyes darkened, and he reached out to grasp Lian Xun’s chin, his voice low and domineering.

    “Look at me.”

“I really, truly didn’t know that Chairman An invited me to the art exhibition for this purpose.” Qi Luzhi looked into Lian Xun’s eyes, his expression utterly sincere. “How could I possibly do something that I know would bother you?”

His original intention was to bring Lian Xun out to relax, but he hadn’t expected it to backfire and make him feel even worse.

A trace of self-reproach arose in Qi Luzhi’s heart.

“How about this? As compensation for my poor decision-making, for the next few days, I’ll do whatever you want.”

“Really?” Upon hearing this, Lian Xun nearly couldn’t suppress the smile on his face.

He was only jealous of An Jinnan; he wasn’t truly blaming Qi Luzhi.

He hadn’t expected to receive such an unexpected reward.

“When have I ever lied to you?” Qi Luzhi flicked Lian Xun’s forehead.

Lian Xun seriously considered it. “Yes, there was that time you promised to let me be on top, and the result was…”

Before he could finish speaking, Qi Luzhi hastily reached out to cover Lian Xun’s mouth. “We’re outside! How can you say anything that comes to mind?”

Only then did Lian Xun belatedly realize what he’d done and quickly shut his mouth, looking around in fright.

Luckily, there was no one around.

There was nothing left to see at the art exhibition, so Qi Luzhi and Lian Xun said their farewells to Chairman An and prepared to head home.

In the car, Lian Xun couldn’t help but voice the concern in his heart. “Qi Luzhi, judging from Chairman An’s attitude today, it seems like he’s determined to have you as his son-in-law. Have you thought about how you’re going to handle it?”

Qi Luzhi’s thumb rubbed back and forth on the steering wheel as he fell into thought.

An Shun was indeed not someone easy to deal with.

An Sheng Group had been cultivating its influence in Xuan Cheng for many years and had deep roots. It was a very important partner for Sheng Shao Group.

Furthermore, An Shun was known for being a daughter-doting maniac. He would find a way to fulfill anything An Jinnan wanted.

Qi Luzhi couldn’t afford to offend An Shun.

But he also couldn’t marry An Jinnan.

“Don’t worry, leave this matter to me.” Qi Luzhi gave Lian Xun a faint smile, appearing calm and unconcerned.

“I know you’re capable, but I advise you not to be too reckless in this matter.”

Lian Xun had been working in Xuan Cheng for a while and was well aware of how much influence An Sheng Group had on Sheng Shao Group.

It had been so difficult for Qi Luzhi to achieve his current status and success. It wouldn’t be worth it to offend An Shun at this point.

“So, you’re saying I should just go ahead and marry An Jinnan?”

“How dare you!” Lian Xun glared at Qi Luzhi.

“Alright, things aren’t as serious as you think. We’ll carve a path through the mountains and build a bridge over the water. You just need to remember…”

Qi Luzhi paused, took Lian Xun’s hand, intertwined his fingers with his, and whispered reverently, “If one day I really have to marry someone, the only person I’ll marry is you.”

Lian Xun’s heart skipped a beat.

Even though he was becoming more accustomed to Qi Luzhi’s love, his heart would still race uncontrollably whenever he heard such sacred, oath-like words.

“You… what nonsense are you spouting?” Lian Xun’s ears were filled with the sound of his own heartbeat, and he felt his face flush red. He started to babble incoherently, “If you’re going to propose, please be more formal. I won’t agree to this.”

Qi Luzhi looked at the awkward and shy Lian Xun before him, and a bold idea he had never had before suddenly arose in his heart.

What would it be like if he really married him?

    ……

The day after returning from the art exhibition, An Jinnan couldn’t wait to launch a fierce offensive towards Qi Luzhi.

One moment she was inviting him to a cocktail party, and the next she was asking him to play golf.

Naturally, Qi Luzhi rejected them all.

An Jinnan became more courageous with each setback, even using An Shun’s name to request a visit to Qi Luzhi’s home.

Lian Xun admired An Jinnan’s commendable courage, but at the same time, he felt a bit of sympathy for her.

Because no matter how hard she tried, it would all be in vain.

“Qi Luzhi, didn’t you say that you’d listen to me for the remaining days of the vacation? This time, let me take you somewhere.”

Lian Xun was afraid that An Jinnan would really come to visit, and their relationship would be forced into the open.

An Jinnan was currently obsessed with him, and no amount of refusal would work. The only solution was to avoid her for now.

He might as well take this opportunity to bring Qi Luzhi back to Shangjiang.
