Chapter 44: The Boss is Generous

    It was New Year’s Eve.

Early in the morning, Lian Xun was still sound asleep when Qi Luzhi yanked him out of bed and forced him into a bright red wool sweater.

It was newly bought yesterday – a couple’s style!

It was the first time Qi Luzhi had worn such a brightly colored piece of clothing, which weakened the aloof and stern aura he exuded in his bones, adding a touch of gentleness and brightness. Compared to before, it was a completely different kind of handsomeness.

Lian Xun was stunned, staring intently at Qi Luzhi’s face, so much so that Qi Luzhi’s face started to burn slightly. “Is there something on my face? Why are you staring at me?”

Lian Xun chuckled, unabashedly praising, “You look really good in this.”

Qi Luzhi paused in the middle of adjusting his collar, a hint of red gradually creeping up his earlobes.

Then, he reached out and cradled the back of Lian Xun’s head, his burning gaze sweeping over Lian Xun’s clear, dark eyes, landing on his straight nose, and then on his alluring lips, before planting a fleeting kiss.

“You look especially, especially good in this too,” Qi Luzhi said in a low voice, the magnetic and husky sound like a feather stroking the tip of Lian Xun’s heart, turning his newly awakened brain into a muddled mess.

After breakfast, Qi Luzhi dragged Lian Xun to put up the Spring Festival couplets. The villa’s gate was very tall, requiring them to stand on a ladder to reach the top.

Lian Xun carefully stood on the ladder, slowly raising the couplet in his hand, gesturing against the wall. “Is this height okay?”

Qi Luzhi took two steps back, squinting his eyes, looking left and right. “A little lower, a little more to the right… Too much, go back a bit.”

“Still not right? My arm is getting sore,” Lian Xun complained.

“You can’t just focus on the top and ignore the bottom. The bottom is crooked as hell,” Qi Luzhi said with a helpless smile, stepping forward to pinch the very bottom of the couplet, aligning it with the door frame before sticking it on.

Lian Xun also pasted the top part firmly, pressing it a few times to prevent it from being blown away by the wind.

“Come down, be careful.” Qi Luzhi held the ladder with one hand, shielding Lian Xun from behind with the other.

Lian Xun slowly climbed down, and when there were still two steps left to the ground, he suddenly felt his feet in the air, his back falling into a warm embrace.

Qi Luzhi wrapped his arms around Lian Xun’s waist, holding him steadily on the ground, then turned him to face him, his large hand grasping his red fingertips, stroking them back and forth. “Why are you so cold?”

“Guess it’s about to snow, it’s too cold today.” Lian Xun looked up at the sky. The dark sky showed no sunlight, gloomy and oppressive. But this did not affect his good mood in the slightest.

Qi Luzhi’s hands were very warm, and soon Lian Xun’s hands regained their normal color, and didn’t feel so cold to the touch.

Lian Xun planned to continue putting up the other side of the couplets, but Qi Luzhi, afraid that his hands would get cold, refused. Lian Xun had no choice but to watch Qi Luzhi stick them up from below.

After putting up the couplets, the two returned to the house. Lian Xun went straight to the fireplace, which was roaring with heat, took off his shoes and snuggled into the sofa. The warmth seeped into his pores, making him feel extremely comfortable.

Qi Luzhi brought over a blanket to put on him, softly asking, “Do you want to eat some fruit?”

Lian Xun nodded. “Yes, give me some dragon fruit, cherries, strawberries, and apples.”

“Okay, then you play by yourself for a while, I’ll go cut the fruit.” Qi Luzhi turned and walked towards the kitchen.

It was still early, and there was nothing else to do, just waiting to eat New Year’s Eve dinner and set off fireworks in the evening. Lian Xun took out his phone, browsing through it listlessly.

Only Ling Yu and a few employees from the company had sent him New Year’s greetings. As for those so-called relatives far across the ocean, they had probably long forgotten that there was still someone like him at home, not even a word of greeting.

Although he had long given up hope for that family, Lian Xun couldn’t help but feel a sense of loss in his heart. After all, they were blood-related relatives, and it was not so easy to completely sever ties.

Qi Luzhi came back with a fruit plate and saw Lian Xun pouting, looking unhappy. He asked worriedly, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Lian Xun replied listlessly, pulling Qi Luzhi to sit down, leaning close to him.

In the afternoon, the Sheng Shao Group company group became lively, with everyone clamoring for the boss to give out New Year’s red envelopes.

    [Happy New Year!!]

    [Congratulations and get rich!!]

[The boss’s aura is two meters eight, the red envelope must be good too!]

[The boss’s career is booming, the red envelope has to keep up!]

[Boss, come out and give out red envelopes!!]

All kinds of auspicious words frantically flooded the screen, dazzling the eyes.

Lian Xun leaned against Qi Luzhi’s embrace, holding his phone up to his face. “President Qi, everyone is so enthusiastic, aren’t you going to show some goodwill?”

Qi Luzhi glanced at the phone screen, remaining very calm. “No rush, I’ll send them out later.”

    “Okay.”

Qi Luzhi noticed Lian Xun’s head drooping instantly and understood. “You want to grab a red envelope? Then I’ll send them now.”

“Okay, okay.” Lian Xun immediately sat up, grabbing his phone with both hands, ready to go, the excitement on his face unmasked. “I’m ready, send them out.”

Lian Xun was very interested in grabbing red envelopes, regardless of their monetary value, but more importantly, the fun and excitement they brought.

Before, when he was abroad, they didn’t celebrate the New Year, nor did they have holidays. Every time New Year came, the house was cold and empty, and no one gave him red envelopes.

This was the first time he had seen such a lively atmosphere in a group, and he felt very novel and wanted to participate in everyone’s happiness.

“I’m going to start sending them out,” Qi Luzhi said to Lian Xun.

“Mmm.” Lian Xun’s eyes were fixed on the phone screen, feeling inexplicably nervous.

Qi Luzhi sent out several large red envelopes in a row, and the group instantly boiled over, the speed of the screen flooding even faster than before.

Lian Xun frantically tapped the phone screen, but always a step too slow, displaying that the red envelope had been snatched empty.

“No, is this a speed that humans can have? It’s too fast!” Lian Xun was flustered.

Qi Luzhi chuckled, quickly comforting, “Don’t worry, I’ll send a little more.”

He sent a few more, but Lian Xun still didn’t get one, so angry that he glared.

Li Yang saw that Qi Luzhi had sent red envelopes and followed suit, and for a while, red envelopes filled the group, and everyone was boiling over.

Some were thanking the boss for grabbing a red envelope, and some unlucky ones didn’t get one, constantly wailing in the group.

Lian Xun was one of these unlucky ones.

“I’m not playing anymore, I’m not playing anymore, someone must be using black technology, how can anyone get one?” Lian Xun threw the phone aside, crossing his arms in front of his chest and leaning on the sofa, venting his anger at Qi Luzhi. “I’m not happy, what do you say we should do?”

Qi Luzhi was innocently shot, it was true that he sent the red envelopes, but what did it have to do with him that he couldn’t get one?

“Okay, it’s okay if you didn’t get one, I’ve already prepared your red envelope for you, it’s exclusively for you,” Qi Luzhi said, touching Lian Xun’s head to soothe his emotions.

Under Lian Xun’s suspicious gaze, Qi Luzhi took out a brand-new red envelope from his pocket and placed it in Lian Xun’s hand.

Lian Xun pinched it through the cover, not knowing what was inside, something hard.

Opening it, it was a Black Card, a little familiar.

“Isn’t this… the card I returned to you? Why are you giving it to me again?” Lian Xun was shocked. “Who gives red envelopes like this? It’s too extravagant!”

“I want to give it to you.” Qi Luzhi forcibly stuffed the card into Lian Xun’s pocket. “Don’t refuse.”

“Then… thank you, boss, the boss is generous!” Lian Xun gave Qi Luzhi a thumbs up.

He would keep this card for Qi Luzhi for now.

The next second, Qi Luzhi held out his hand in front of Lian Xun, his eyes revealing expectation. “Then where is my New Year’s gift?”
