    Chapter 3 You’re Finished, Qi!

“Stop acting hypocritically in front of me, aren’t you tired of pretending? What exactly do you want from me by getting close to me?”

“I want you!” Lian Xun blurted out, his words frivolous.

    Both of them were stunned.

Lian Xun could see from Qi Luzhi’s eyes that the other party had mistaken him for a frivolous person.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way.” Seeing Qi Luzhi’s expression become even more disgusted, Lian Xun panicked.

“Lian Xun, you disgust me.” Qi Luzhi squeezed these words out from between his teeth, then turned to leave. When he reached the door, he stopped, took out a Black Card from his chest pocket, turned back, and stuffed it into Lian Xun’s hand.

“I don’t sleep with you for nothing. Take this card, and we’re even. Remember to close the door on your way out.”

After saying that, Qi Luzhi left without looking back, leaving Lian Xun alone stunned in place. The dull pain in his heart kept him from moving for a long time.

Qi Luzhi said he was disgusting…

Why was he so hostile towards him, yet he cooked him sweet soup and cared about the injuries on his body?

Lian Xun was a little unsure what Qi Luzhi was thinking.

    Heng Feng Building.

Lian Xun got into the Elevator and adjusted his ill-fitting suit in the reflection of the Elevator door.

“Ding.” The Elevator stopped on the 21st floor.

The door slowly opened, revealing the solemn and impressive company lobby directly in front. Lian Xun didn’t even glance at it, heading straight to the side, all the way to the end of the corridor, and pushing open that small glass door.

He could only afford such a small Office right now.

“Boss, why are you only coming now? Those two shareholders came to make a fuss again this morning, saying that if you can’t attract any more investment, they’re going to withdraw their shares.”

“The employees are also panicking, spreading rumors that you’re going to run away with the money. It took me a lot of effort to calm them down.”

“Boss, can you really get new investment? Is our company really going to fail after only three months?”

As soon as he entered, Ling Yu burst out a torrent of words. Lian Xun picked at his ear and lowered his voice, “Keep it down, let’s talk inside.”

There were only a dozen or so people in the entire Office. Was Ling Yu afraid that everyone wouldn’t be able to hear with his loud voice?

The two entered Lian Xun’s private Office. Ling Yu sized Lian Xun up and down a few times, gossiping, “Boss, where did you go last night? This clothes doesn’t seem like yours, does it?”

“Cough, that’s none of your business.” Lian Xun’s face flushed slightly as he thought of his entanglement with Qi Luzhi last night. “How are the documents I asked you to prepare?”

“Oh, they’re all ready. Those are on the desk.” Ling Yu pointed to the stack of documents on the desk. He was still very reliable when it came to work.

“Okay, I’ll take a look later. Go back to work.”

“Okay, boss, good luck, we definitely can’t go bankrupt!” Ling Yu clenched his fist to cheer Lian Xun on.

“You jinx, who said we’re going bankrupt?”

Lian Xun casually picked up a book and threw it over. Ling Yu quickly dodged out and closed the door. The book hit the glass door, making a crisp sound.

Ling Yu was a New Graduate Lian Xun had picked up on the street. He was smart, hardworking, and very reliable. The only downside was that he talked too much.

Lian Xun rubbed his temples and began to immerse himself in his busy work.

Three months ago, the Lian Family Manor/Estate overseas.

“Father, I’ve done what you asked me to do. What about what you promised me?”

Lian Xun stood in front of the desk, mustering the courage to make his request.

Lian Yishan teased the Cockatiel Parrot in the cage on the desk, without even raising his head.

“You still want to go find that kid?” It seemed like a question, but it was actually a certainty.

Lian Xun clenched his fist. “Yes.”

Lian Yishan put down the feather in his hand, finally deigning to look at Lian Xun.

“You know, among the heirs of the Lian Group, you are the one I am most optimistic about.”

“Father, you also said that as long as I secure this five billion contract, you would let me return to the country.”

Lian Xun lowered his eyes. He knew that Lian Yishan wanted to go back on his word again, but he had to fight for it.

“Is everything the Lian family has given you over the years not even worth as much as that brat?” Lian Yishan’s tone became heavier, and a hint of anger appeared between his brows.

“What the Lian family has given me…” Lian Xun couldn’t help but sneer, “Father, are you referring to locking me in the warehouse and almost starving me to death, as well as all my scars?”

Back then, he was taken abroad and locked in a warehouse for a whole month. His half-siblings bullied him in every possible way, but Lian Yishan turned a blind eye. In the end, it was the housekeeper who couldn’t bear it any longer and pleaded for him, which saved his life.

“Impudent!” Lian Yishan slapped the table, and the wooden table made a dull thud. “Is that how you talk to your father?”

Lian Xun took a step back slightly, his tone still neither humble nor arrogant, “Surely the head of the dignified Lian Group wouldn’t go back on his word, would he?”

Lian Yishan was silent for a moment. Seeing that Lian Xun was determined, he sneered, “Fine, if you want to return to the country, then so be it. However, from this day on, you will have nothing more to do with the Lian family. I want to see, without the protection of the Lian family, what you’re even worth.”

    “Thank you, Father.”

Having received the answer he wanted, Lian Xun nodded slightly and then withdrew from the Study.

The Lian family, with its outwardly glamorous appearance, was rotten to the core on the inside. He didn’t want to stay there for even a moment longer.

Even though he knew clearly that without the protection of the Lian family, his siblings would definitely try to find ways to make him die outside.

But it didn’t matter. He had already made a desperate decision to return to Qi Luzhi’s side with all his might.

As the setting sun slanted westward, Lian Xun looked up from the mountain of documents and stretched his arms.

“Ling Yu, tell everyone not to leave after work. We’re going out for a dinner party.”

    “Is the boss treating?”

Ling Yu heard Lian Xun’s summons and poked a head in from the door.

“Yeah.” Lian Xun nodded. Now every one of his employees was a treasure, and he had to hold on to them tightly so they wouldn’t run away.

    “Yay, the boss is generous.”

The corners of Ling Yu’s mouth almost reached his temples, and he hurriedly went to inform everyone.

    Sheng Shao Group.

Li Yang had been observing him all day. Qi Luzhi was very strange today, completely distracted.

“Hey, Qi, did something happen to you?” Li Yang couldn’t help but ask before getting off work.

“Um, I have a friend, his ex disappeared for several years, and suddenly appeared asking to get back together. What does that mean?”

Qi Luzhi turned his chair to face Li Yang, sincerely seeking an answer.

“That scumbag who dumped you twice came back to find you?”

Li Yang immediately heard that Qi Luzhi was talking about himself. This guy lived a two-point life every day. Besides him, where would he get a friend?

“Don’t tell me you still want to get back together with him, I’ll look down on you if you do.” Li Yang was disappointed.

“How is that possible? We just slept together one night, and I gave him a card. We’re even.” Qi Luzhi said stubbornly.

“Isn’t he a Young Master from a Wealthy Family? He shouldn’t be short of money. How much is on the card you gave him?”

    “Probably… nine figures.”

Qi Luzhi’s tone was as calm as if he was talking about nine yuan.

    “Pfft… how, how much?”

Li Yang spat out a mouthful of tea, and his pupils widened to twice their normal size in shock.

“Qi, you’re finished. You still love him.” Li Yang looked at Qi Luzhi with an expression that said there was no hope for him.

“How is that possible? What nonsense are you talking about?” Qi Luzhi frowned, hiding the panic in his heart.

“Brother, have you ever heard a saying?” Li Yang put down his cup, wiped his mouth gracefully, and continued, “Love is where the money is. You gave him hundreds of millions without batting an eye, and you still say you don’t love him?”
