    Chapter 105: An Unexpected Surprise

    “Okay, I promise you.”

This time, he didn’t back down.

As the setting sun cast its golden rays, Lian Xun wheeled Qi Luzhi back home, a smile playing on his lips. He was already contemplating going to register their marriage in the next couple of days.

    “Qi-gege, we…”

Before Lian Xun could finish his sentence, a jarring screech of brakes shattered the air behind them.

His body reacted faster than his mind; he swiftly moved to shield Qi Luzhi.

    “Screech—bang—”

The wheels screeched sharply as they twisted and turned on the cement road, followed by a muffled crash of metal. Dandelions, caught in the breeze, danced wildly in the air.

Lian Xun felt the world spin around him as he slammed hard against a thick tree trunk on the roadside, before collapsing into the dense weeds.

The sharp pain in his back left his mind blank for a few seconds, and everything went dark. As his pupils refocused, he frantically searched for Qi Luzhi’s figure, his whole body trembling uncontrollably.

    “Qi-gege… Qi-gege…”

Dragging his sprained waist, Lian Xun desperately crawled towards Qi Luzhi, who lay a few meters away. The other man’s tightly closed eyes and the splatters of blood on the cement road seared into his vision.

The vehicle responsible had already sped away, like a phantom, disappearing quickly into the last rays of the setting sun.

As the two sapphire rings touched, Lian Xun finally couldn’t hold on any longer and fainted, his hand tightly clasping Qi Luzhi’s.

He woke up again in the hospital. Lian Xun’s second older brother and third older sister were guarding the bedside. Seeing him awake, they rushed over to express their concern. “Are you alright? We were so scared when we heard you were in a car accident.”

Lian Xun raised his eyelids and glanced at them indifferently. Their faces were plastered with fake concern, but their eyes revealed their disappointment that Lian Xun hadn’t been killed in the crash.

“I’m fine.” Lian Xun didn’t bother to pay attention to them, got up, and asked the doctor anxiously, “Where’s Qi Luzhi? Where is he?”

The doctor sighed and led Lian Xun to the entrance of the operating room.

Lian Xun leaned against the window, looking at Qi Luzhi lying pale on the operating table. He felt as if he had been plunged into an icehouse, the bone-chilling cold followed by a dull, tearing pain.

    “Qi-gege…”

His vision instantly blurred with tears, and Lian Xun shook the doctor’s shoulders emotionally, repeatedly asking:

“What happened to him? Why is he in the operating room? He’ll be alright, right? Tell me, he’ll be alright…”

The doctor held Lian Xun’s arm and shook his head helplessly. “The patient suffered a major impact. Several bones are fractured, and even if he wakes up, his condition may not be very optimistic.”

Hearing this, Lian Xun’s pupils shrank, and his mind went blank.

How could this be? How could this happen?

Heaven must be joking with him, right?

Qi Luzhi absolutely couldn’t have anything happen to him, absolutely not at this time.

They were so close to happiness. Qi-gege had already agreed to marry him, in just a month.

He even wanted to invite Li Yang, Ling Yu, and Wei Xueming to show off their affection.

He wanted Wangcai to be their “flower boy” at that time, giving them rings. Everyone in the audience would definitely think it was fun.

He wanted to passionately kiss Qi Luzhi’s lips under the envious eyes of everyone and solemnly swear “I do.”

Perhaps even the heavens were jealous of the happiness he was about to receive, which was why he was experiencing all of this.

His fantasies, his dreams, were about to become nothing but bubbles.

    ……

Lian Xun used all of the Lian family’s connections, and in just one day, he tracked down the hit-and-run driver, beat him up severely, secretly had someone break his legs, and burned his car.

But this couldn’t make up for even a fraction of the pain in Lian Xun’s heart.

In that car accident, Lian Xun only suffered some superficial injuries and recovered quickly, but Qi Luzhi lay in the hospital for several months.

The lavender blooming season had passed, and only the scorched flower stalks were left in the vast purple sea, bending in the autumn wind like faded movie film.

Lian Xun postponed the wedding again and again, but never gave up.

The carefully prepared wedding attire was changed from summer clothes to winter clothes, the venue was changed from a green field by the sea to a manor church, and batches of written invitations were thrown away one after another…

Until the first snow fell on the world again, he finally ushered in the wedding he had been obsessed with for so long.

The weather was gloomy, and snow was falling, but the Lian family was festive and beaming with joy. Bright red ribbons and the character for “happiness” could be seen everywhere, and everyone’s face was full of happy smiles.

In the dressing room on the second floor, Qi Luzhi stood in front of a huge floor-to-ceiling mirror, adjusting his cuffs. His complexion was rosy, and he looked energetic.

The straight black Haute Couture Suit was tailored with great care, and the collar was inlaid with delicate dark red patterns, which was both grand and festive.

He turned around and asked Lian Xun, “How is it? Can I wear this?”

Lian Xun stroked his chin and looked Qi Luzhi up and down, frowning. “Qi-gege, have you gotten taller? The pants seem a little short.”

Qi Luzhi looked down and saw that the hem of the pants was ten centimeters above his ankles, which did look a little tight.

Speaking of which, that car accident could be considered a blessing in disguise.

The huge impact seemed to have triggered the regeneration mechanism of some necrotic nerves, and with the doctor’s best efforts to treat him, Qi Luzhi felt the strength in his legs gradually recover after a period of recuperation.

It was just that he had multiple fractures and had to lie in bed for two months. After he recovered, he was able to stand up.

After persisting in exercising for a few months, he was now able to move freely, and even after some “bone-lengthening,” the suit pants that Lian Xun had previously made for him were a bit short.

Lian Xun took another tuxedo-style dress and handed it to Qi Luzhi, “It’s good that I prepared a few more sets. Try this one.”

    “Okay.”

Qi Luzhi nodded obediently and started to take off his clothes in front of Lian Xun.

He unbuttoned his shirt, threw it aside, and picked up the new tuxedo to put it on.

Lian Xun’s coveted gaze lingered on Qi Luzhi’s strong chest muscles and abs, and he swallowed, unable to resist stepping forward and pulling off the clothes that Qi Luzhi had just put on.

    Qi Luzhi: “?”

Lian Xun smiled, placed his right hand on Qi Luzhi’s chest, and licked his earlobe.

“Qi-gege, it’s still early. Can we do something else first?”

Qi Luzhi pressed down on Lian Xun’s restless hands, his breathing erratic, and he felt a burst of evil fire rising from his lower abdomen.

He wrapped his arms around Lian Xun’s waist and deliberately teased him, “What kind of ‘something else’ are you talking about?”

“Of course, it’s the thing you and I like the most.” Lian Xun’s face flushed red.

“The thing you like the most, what is it?”

Qi Luzhi pressed closer, a mischievous smile on his lips, “If you don’t say it, I won’t do it.”

Lian Xun struggled twice, but couldn’t move at all. He glared at Qi Luzhi, both shy and annoyed.

    “You’re so bad!”
