Chapter 104: The Half-Year Promise Is Approaching

“I know, I didn’t mean anything else by it,” Lian Xun paused, then continued, “Just treat it as my betrothal gift, my dowry, anything is fine.”

In reality, Lian Xun’s idea was very simple: he wanted to share everything he had with Qi Luzhi.

If the old shareholders in the company hadn’t stopped him, Lian Xun would have even given Qi Luzhi all of his shares in the Lian Family Group.

Compared to what Qi Luzhi had done for him, this little bit of his was far from enough.

Qi Luzhi still refused. “The Lian Family Group is yours. I can’t accept it.”

What was this supposed to be? Compensation? Charity?

Whatever it was, he didn’t want it!

Qi Luzhi grabbed the contract on the table and threw it straight into the trash can.

Lian Xun’s eyes widened in disbelief as he glanced at the trash can, then returned his gaze to Qi Luzhi’s face.

“Then I’ll give you back that Black Card you gave me; I don’t want it either,” Lian Xun said petulantly. “Anyway, I didn’t spend a single cent of it. I invested it all, and it’s even made a lot of money.”

Qi Luzhi said, “What’s given to you is yours.”

Lian Xun retorted, “Then what I give you is also yours. Why don’t you want it?”

Qi Luzhi was speechless, and remained silent for a long time.

“In short, I’m just not going to sign it.”

He was almost always responsive to all of Lian Xun’s requests, but this was the only one he wouldn’t agree to.

Lian Xun pleaded and cajoled for a long time, but still couldn’t win him over, so he had to give up for the time being.

Anyway, in his heart, he and Qi Luzhi were already inseparable; what was his was Qi Luzhi’s, so it didn’t really matter whether he signed it or not.

Seeing Qi Luzhi with a sullen look on his face, Lian Xun pouted and threw himself into Qi Luzhi’s arms, trying to appease him. “If you don’t want to sign, then you don’t have to. Don’t look so unhappy.”

“I’m not unhappy.” Qi Luzhi wrapped his arms around Lian Xun’s waist, his eyes shimmering. “Ah Xun, having you is enough for me.”

Lian Xun’s heart warmed, and he smiled and kissed Qi Luzhi on the cheek.

He turned his head to look outside, then mysteriously said to Qi Luzhi, “Brother Qi, it’s still early, how about I take you out for a walk to clear your head?”

The sun was shining brightly outside the window. Lian Xun got off Qi Luzhi’s lap, went behind him, and pushed his wheelchair towards the outside.

Qi Luzhi turned his head to look at him. “But I haven’t done today’s training yet.”

He had been persevering with rehabilitation for so long, and had finally been able to stand for a short time with external assistance. He didn’t want to slack off for even a day.

Lian Xun said with a smile, “It’s okay; it’s fine to rest for a day.”

Qi Luzhi frowned slightly, a hint of suspicion flashing in his eyes. Lian Xun’s expression clearly indicated that he was secretly planning something behind his back again.

Qi Luzhi didn’t expose him and said with a light smile, “Alright, then let’s be lazy today and go out with you to clear our heads. It’s been a long time since I’ve been out anyway.”

On a quiet, deserted country lane, the wheelchair crunched over the gravel, and the setting sun shone through the gaps in the leaves, scattering fine golden dust on the two of them.

Although it was already May, the wind outside was still a bit cool. Lian Xun adjusted the scarf around Qi Luzhi’s neck and asked him, “Brother Qi, how do you like the place I found?”

Qi Luzhi closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the fresh, grassy scent of the forest, then said, “It’s good.”

Indeed, people still needed to get out more and be close to nature. Breathing in the fresh air like this made him feel much better.

    “I’m glad you like it.”

Lian Xun smiled with relief and pointed to the hillside in the distance. “We’re going there. There’s an even bigger surprise waiting for you later.”

“Okay,” Qi Luzhi responded faintly, a faint smile on his lips.

He knew that Lian Xun was going to pull this stunt again.

Having been together for so long, Qi Luzhi knew Lian Xun inside and out. To put it bluntly, Qi Luzhi knew what kind of fart Lian Xun was going to let just by the way he wiggled his butt.

Lian Xun was displeased with Qi Luzhi’s cold reaction. “Aren’t you even a little bit excited? At least give me some face.”

“Of course I’m excited, but you can never hide anything in your eyes, so I really can’t pretend to be surprised,” Qi Luzhi said, finding it a little funny in addition to feeling touched.

Lian Xun’s surprises only brought him joy, not actual surprise.

“Really? Is it that obvious?” Lian Xun asked doubtfully.

Qi Luzhi said, “Yes, it is. Look in the mirror if you don’t believe me.”

As he spoke, he turned on the front-facing camera on his phone and held it up in front of Lian Xun.

Lian Xun leaned in for a closer look and said smugly, “Nothing’s different. I’m still as handsome as ever.”

He moved Qi Luzhi’s hand holding the phone down a little, so that both of their faces were in the frame, and snapped a picture.

After walking a while longer, they went over a small hillside and the view suddenly opened up.

In the endless wilderness, lavender fields stretched to the horizon like a purple mist. A gentle breeze swept across, creating layers of deep purple waves that emitted a refreshing fragrance.

A four-foot-wide bluestone path stretched from their feet to an archway made of flowers not far away. Behind the archway was a large heart-shaped clearing with no flowers planted, only a lush green lawn.

Even though he had been mentally prepared, Qi Luzhi was still stunned for a moment by the beautiful scene before him.

Lian Xun ran forward a few steps, stood in the flower field, and turned back to Qi Luzhi with open arms.

“Brother Qi, is this place beautiful? Do you like it?”

Qi Luzhi looked at the young man, who was even brighter and more beautiful than the flowers, his eyes filled with tenderness.

    “It’s beautiful, I like it.”

He was not only talking about the scenery before him, but also the person before him.

“Then, let’s have our wedding here, okay?” Lian Xun said.

    Qi Luzhi’s heart shook.

Yes, the half-year promise was almost here.

He lowered his eyes, his knuckles involuntarily tightening as he gripped the wheelchair.

He pressed down hard on the armrests with his hands, wanting to stand up. When Lian Xun saw Qi Luzhi’s movements, he ran forward worriedly, wanting to help him.

Qi Luzhi gently shook his head, refusing Lian Xun’s help.

Lian Xun opened his arms, casting an encouraging look at Qi Luzhi. “Try it, I’ll catch you.”

Qi Luzhi took a deep breath and gathered his strength to stand up from the wheelchair with difficulty. Lian Xun instinctively put his hands on Qi Luzhi’s side, afraid that he would fall.

Less than two seconds after letting go, Qi Luzhi lost his balance and staggered, about to fall.

    “Brother Qi.”

Lian Xun’s heart was in his throat. He immediately reached out and caught the person falling towards him in a full embrace.

Qi Luzhi barely managed to steady himself, burying himself in Lian Xun’s body, his arms tightly wrapped around him, closing his eyes in despair.

There was less than a month left until the half-year deadline, but he couldn’t even stand up.

“Brother Qi, it’s okay, even if you can’t stand up, I won’t dislike you,” Lian Xun patted Qi Luzhi’s back to comfort him. “Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.”

Qi Luzhi didn’t say anything, just hugged Lian Xun tightly.

Lian Xun was afraid that he would use this as an excuse to postpone the wedding again, so he quickly reminded Qi Luzhi, “You promised me half a year, don’t go back on your word. Whether you can stand up or not, this wedding has to happen.”
