    Chapter 59: Breakfast

After Qi Yanwang left, Zhuo Huaimo collapsed onto the sofa, gazing at the ceiling, his chest rising and falling involuntarily.

He still came, he really came!

Zhuo Huaimo didn’t quite understand his feelings at this moment, why he wasn’t more surprised.

Did he feel that this was inevitable, or was he also secretly anticipating it?

At least one thing he was very clear about: once Qi Yanwang appeared, his life would once again be difficult to calm down!

Outside the French windows, the headlights of the Cullinan cut through the night, the person was still in the car…

His phone suddenly vibrated. It was a text message from Shao Fan:

“Do you need me to come back?”

Zhuo Huaimo stared at the screen, his fingertip hovering over the keyboard for a long time without moving.

He knew that as long as he replied with a single word, Shao Fan would turn around immediately.

But he also knew that this would only complicate the situation further.

    “No need, I’m fine.”

Putting down his phone, Zhuo Huaimo walked to the liquor cabinet, only to find that the 1982 Macallan was gone.

In its place was a note, scrawled with flamboyant handwriting:

“I took the wine. This wine isn’t suitable for you!”

Qi Yanwang’s handwriting was still sharp, as domineering as the man himself.

Zhuo Huaimo crumpled the note into a ball, but smelled the lingering scent of cool wood –

It was Qi Yanwang’s usual cologne, which had haunted his dreams countless times.

He snorted coldly, “Still so hard to change!”

The next morning, Zhuo Huaimo hadn’t even opened his eyes when a familiar fragrance enveloped his nose.

He frowned, thinking he was still dreaming, or hallucinating from hunger.

But when he heard slight noises coming from the kitchen, he abruptly opened his eyes.

He flipped out of bed, his bare feet stepping on the cold floor, and tiptoed to the kitchen doorway.

The scene before him stunned him instantly –

Qi Yanwang was wearing a simple white T-shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his muscular forearms, his back to him as he busied about.

Sunlight streamed in from the window, outlining his slender figure, like a still painting.

In that moment, Zhuo Huaimo was in a daze.

The figure before him overlapped with memories from over a year ago.

Back then, Qi Yanwang was also like this, waking up early every morning to busy himself in the kitchen, just to coax him to eat a few more bites of breakfast.

His back was still straight, his movements still skilled, as if time had never left any trace between them.

    “Awake?”

Qi Yanwang’s voice pulled him back to reality.

“Go brush your teeth, then drink a glass of warm water, and come eat breakfast.”

Zhuo Huaimo stood there, looking at him with complicated eyes, his voice as cold as ice,

    “How did you get in?”

    Qi Yanwang shrugged, unfazed,

“You only have a few passwords, not hard to guess.”

Zhuo Huaimo laughed coldly, sarcasm in his eyes,

“Yes, you’ve always been good at guessing passwords.”

The air instantly froze. Both of them understood the meaning behind the laugh –

Back then, Qi Yanwang had also easily guessed the password to his safe, stolen the “Early Spring” script, and leaked it to Gu Chen Zhou.

Qi Yanwang’s eyes darkened, but he quickly regained his composure,

“Go wash up first, breakfast will be ready soon.”

Zhuo Huaimo looked at him coldly, a hint of warning in his tone,

    “This is called trespassing.”

Qi Yanwang didn’t turn his head, his voice light,

    “Then call the police.”

Zhuo Huaimo was speechless, choked by his thick skin. He clenched and unclenched his fist, and finally turned and went to the bathroom.

When he returned to the dining table, Qi Yanwang had already set out the breakfast. On the table was also the glass he had smashed last night.

The glass had been carefully pieced back together. Although the cracks were still clear, at least it had been restored to its original shape.

Zhuo Huaimo’s gaze fell on Qi Yanwang’s hands. There were a few small scratches on his fingers, obviously left from piecing the glass together.

His heart tightened, but he quickly suppressed that strange emotion, not looking up.

“Even if it’s pieced back together, it can’t even restore the appearance, let alone be used.”

    “I know,”

Qi Yanwang stirred his coffee, “But at least it’s still here.”

Zhuo Huaimo didn’t respond. He sat down and began to eat breakfast.

He took two bites, put down his chopsticks, and said in a cold tone,

“What exactly did you come here for?”

Qi Yanwang took out a document from his bag and pushed it in front of him,

“This is the transfer contract for Xingyue Media. I’m here to return it to you.”

He opened the first page. “As long as you sign, it’s yours again.”

Zhuo Huaimo glanced at the document. “You’re managing Xingyue Media very well. I’m not interested.”

    “Then what do you want?”

Qi Yanwang’s voice suddenly rose. “”Early Spring”? I can start the project immediately, or if you want to return to the entertainment industry, last night I and…”

    “I want you to disappear!”

Zhuo Huaimo interrupted him. “Disappear completely from my life!”

    Qi Yanwang was silent.

He looked down at the contract, his fingers unconsciously stroking the edge of the paper,

    “I can’t do it!”

    Breakfast proceeded in silence.

Zhuo Huaimo mechanically chewed the food, but couldn’t taste anything.

Qi Yanwang’s skills were still perfect, but some things had changed after all.

“You’re managing Xingyue Media very well,”

Zhuo Huaimo put down his chopsticks. “I’m not interested anymore. And don’t come here again.”

Qi Yanwang paused as he cleared the table.

“I came this time to find you. Either you come back to the country with me, or you live here with me!”

    “We’ve already broken up.”

    “No,”

Qi Yanwang raised his head and looked directly into his eyes. “I’ve never acknowledged it.”

Zhuo Huaimo suddenly laughed, his laughter tinged with sarcasm.

“Qi Yanwang, you’re still so self-righteous.”

    “Yes,”

Qi Yanwang admitted frankly. “That’s why I’m here!”

“Give up. I will never be with you again!”

Although Zhuo Huaimo had said similar words many times, this time, he felt particularly angry.

That scene last night, no matter when he thought of it, he felt like a knife was stabbing at his heart.

All night, he numbed himself, telling himself that last night was just the first time, and he had stopped it in time.

Before, in the past year or so, they…

No, they definitely hadn’t been together.

That Shao guy definitely hadn’t touched Zhuo Huaimo!!

In fact, he knew very well that even if it had happened, even if he was so jealous that he wanted to kill that person, he could accept it, as long as Zhuo Huaimo was willing to return to his side.

So, he didn’t seek confirmation, didn’t think about it, but now, Zhuo Huaimo said so firmly,

    “He won’t be with him!”

Qi Yanwang’s fork suddenly scraped against the porcelain plate with a jarring sound. He looked up at Zhuo Huaimo.

“You don’t want to be with me because of that Shao guy?”

That look in his eyes made Zhuo Huaimo feel a sense of unfamiliarity and panic for the first time, not stemming from their relationship.

Rather, it was simply from Qi Yanwang’s oppression and coldness.

Zhuo Huaimo tried his best to appear calm.

“It has nothing to do with anyone!”

    “Is that so?”

Qi Yanwang suddenly stood up, the chair dragging against the floor with a harsh screech.

“If I hadn’t arrived in time last night, would you have been kissing him?”

“You were watching me?” Zhuo Huaimo’s pupils constricted.

    “Answer me!”

Qi Yanwang suddenly became irritable, pinning Zhuo Huaimo against the wall, his hands trembling uncontrollably, asking the question he thought he would never ask.

“You guys, you guys, did you ever, in the past year or so, has he ever touched you? Answer me!!!”

Zhuo Huaimo’s arm was painfully gripped.

“Slap!” A slap landed on his face. “Enough! What does all this have to do with you?”

Qi Yanwang touched the side that had been hit, and said coldly,

“Has nothing to do with me? You’ll soon know whether it has anything to do with me!”

A ominous premonition suddenly arose in Zhuo Huaimo’s heart.

    “What do you mean?”

Qi Yanwang gently led him to the table. “Come, eat your breakfast!”

He leaned closer to him. “Remember, no matter what you say, I will never let go, and I will never give you to anyone.”

His warm breath brushed against his ear. “You are destined to be mine in this life.”

For the first time, Zhuo Huaimo felt that Qi Yanwang had changed – he had become strong and domineering, like an enraged beast, ready to tear its prey to shreds at any moment.

    “Ding-ling-ling—”

Zhuo Huaimo’s phone rang, the screen displaying “Shao Fan.”

He subconsciously glanced at Qi Yanwang, but the man didn’t even raise his head, continuing to eat his breakfast.

    “Hello!”

“Mo, I can’t be with you today,” Shao Fan’s tired voice came through.

“Are you okay alone? Has Qi Yanwang been harassing you? If he has, tell me immediately.”

“What’s wrong?” Zhuo Huaimo asked worriedly.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone. “The investors in the new film… withdrew their investment. These next few days, I have to contact new investors!”

Zhuo Huaimo glanced at Qi Yanwang, who was elegantly spreading jam on his toast.

    “How many?”

“Three major investors suddenly want to re-evaluate the risks.”

Shao Fan smiled wryly. “They said they saw some financial data…”

Zhuo Huaimo hung up the phone and slammed it heavily on the table.

    “Did you do this?”

Qi Yanwang elegantly wiped the corners of his mouth, and looked at him calmly.

“I just didn’t want anyone to disturb us.”

    “You’re still so despicable!”

    “Despicable?”

    Qi Yanwang’s eyes darkened.

“Some friends asked me for my opinion on this script. I just helped them investigate it thoroughly!”

He took out a tablet and pulled up a file. “That Shao guy’s artistic film last year actually lost 30 million at the box office, but the financial report showed a profit. And his charity foundation…”

Zhuo Huaimo sneered. “In this industry, whose investment returns aren’t embellished? You clearly know…”

    “So?”

Qi Yanwang interrupted him. “If someone asked you, would you lie?”

Zhuo Huaimo was stumped. He knew that Qi Yanwang was right, but the thought that Shao Fan might be in trouble because of this made it impossible for him to remain calm.

    “You’re retaliating!”

Zhuo Huaimo stood up abruptly. “Just because of last night…”

    “Yes,”

Qi Yanwang also stood up, his eyes sharp. “Why was he so close to you? Why was he looking at you with that kind of look?”

He grabbed Zhuo Huaimo’s wrist. “Do you know how much I wanted to rush in and pin him to the ground and beat him up?”

Zhuo Huaimo struggled. “Let go of me!”

But Qi Yanwang pressed him against the wall, his voice low.

“I endured it all night just so that you wouldn’t be embarrassed.”

His breath was hot. “But you seem to have forgotten that you’re mine.”

“How many times do I have to say it? We’ve already broken up!” Zhuo Huaimo roared.

Qi Yanwang’s eyes suddenly turned dangerous.

He lowered his head and kissed Zhuo Huaimo’s lips, the action rough but filled with an undeniable tenderness.

This was the kiss he had been waiting for so many days, the kiss he had missed so much.

The familiar temperature, the familiar touch and scent instantly filled his body.

He instantly felt his blood rush, as if every pore was breathing!

He had come alive, truly come alive!

Even if it was just a little bit of sweet dew, it made him yearn!

Zhuo Huaimo struggled desperately, but was held tightly in his arms.

    “Be good,”

Qi Yanwang’s voice was pleading. “I’m willing to wait for you, wait for you to forgive me. But for him…”

His eyes turned cold. “I don’t have that much patience.”

Zhuo Huaimo panted, looking at him with complicated eyes.

    “What exactly do you want?”

    “It’s simple,”

Qi Yanwang released him and straightened his disheveled collar. “You be good, they be sensible, and everyone will be at peace.”

He looked at the Xingyue Media transfer contract on the table that Zhuo Huaimo had rejected, and suddenly smiled.

“I suddenly think it was a wise choice for you to refuse to sign. Xingyue Media, I’ll temporarily keep it for you. I don’t want to see you throwing money at that Shao guy!”
