    Chapter 27: Cohabitation

Zhuo Huaimo raised his eyebrows, his tone playful.

“Of course, of course, I’ve thought about it, it’s very necessary!”

“No need, really no need, it’s too much trouble!”

Qi Yanwang was being pressed back step by step, retreating again and again, almost shrinking into the corner of the sofa.

“Just now, who was it who said that I’m the boss, and also a brother, and should take care of you? Look, your hand is still injured. As a brother, how can I rest assured leaving you alone in the bathroom? What if you bump into something again? Wouldn’t that mean I didn’t take good care of Teacher Qi?”

Zhuo Huaimo approached him, and Qi Yanwang plopped down onto the sofa, uneasy.

    “Really, no need, no need!”

Qi Yanwang waved his hands hurriedly, his eyes darting around, the roots of his ears so red they were practically dripping blood.

Zhuo Huaimo tugged at his collar, a half-smile on his face, slowly leaning closer to him.

    “Zhuo Huaimo!!!”

Qi Yanwang suddenly shouted, instinctively raising his hand to block himself.

But Zhuo Huaimo simply reached past him, reaching for the cigarettes on the cabinet beside him.

The expected thing didn’t happen, and Qi Yanwang slowly lowered his hand, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

He saw Zhuo Huaimo take a cigarette from the box, holding it in his mouth, his well-defined fingers shielding the lighter as he lit it.

He took a deep drag, tilted his head back, and slowly exhaled, behind the curling smoke was a face meticulously crafted by Nuwa herself.

Through the smoke, Qi Yanwang clearly saw Zhuo Huaimo’s Adam’s apple bobbing up and down, and couldn’t help but swallow.

    “Stared enough?”

Zhuo Huaimo suddenly turned his head, with a hint of teasing.

Qi Yanwang flusteredly looked away, grabbing a script from the table at random – the very one Zhuo Huaimo had recommended to Che Ye before.

He flipped through two pages haphazardly, dissatisfied.

“This is the script you introduced to Che Ye?”

Zhuo Huaimo gave a light “Mm” sound.

“I’d like to see what kind of role it is that you said I’m not suitable for!” Qi Yanwang snorted.

    “Are you concerned?”

Zhuo Huaimo’s hand holding the cigarette hung in the air, the smoke curling around his fingers obscuring his deep gaze.

He scratched the corner of his eyebrow, glancing at him, his tone as calm as a lake.

    “I…”

Qi Yanwang paused, then raised his voice, as if trying to cover something up.

“I just want to see what kind of role you think I can’t handle!”

Zhuo Huaimo took a deep drag of his cigarette, slowly exhaling the smoke, his gaze sweeping over the face staring at him, and suddenly spoke,

    “Are you two very close?”

A trace of surprise flashed across Qi Yanwang’s face.

“Not bad, we’re brothers who’ve run extras together, lived in basements, and shared the same bowl of instant noodles! To be honest, if this is really an opportunity for him, I’m very happy for him, but…”

He paused, his tone shifting, carrying a hint of probing.

“Why did you give him this role? When I said to let him come help me, you weren’t happy! Back then, you clearly didn’t like him!”

Qi Yanwang knelt on the sofa, leaning closer to Zhuo Huaimo, his eyes scrutinizing.

“Honestly, did you make some kind of request to him?”

Zhuo Huaimo’s hand, which was about to stub out the cigarette, suddenly paused, a hint of coldness flashing in his half-lowered eyes.

He turned his head to look at Qi Yanwang, “In your heart, is that the kind of person I am?”

Qi Yanwang was stunned, instantly realizing he had said the wrong thing, and was speechless for a moment.

Zhuo Huaimo didn’t look at him again, easily pushing the flip-top cigarette box back onto the table, coldly tossing out a sentence,

“Do as you please, I’m going to rest!”

With that, he got up and left!

    “Hey—”

Qi Yanwang was stunned for a few seconds before reacting, calling out,

“That’s not what I meant! Zhuo Huaimo! Listen to me!”

Qi Yanwang stood there, scratching his head in annoyance.

    “Damn mouth!”

Qi Yanwang tossed and turned in the guest room bed, his mind racing.

“That guy, could he really be angry?”

The more he thought about it, the more upset he became, and in the middle of the night, he hugged his pillow and knocked on Zhuo Huaimo’s bedroom door.

    “Pretending to be asleep?”

Qi Yanwang frowned, simply pushing the door open and entering.

“The guest room air conditioner is broken, can’t sleep!”

    “The air conditioner is broken?”

Before Zhuo Huaimo could react, this guy had directly gone to sleep next to him.

    “Qi Yanwang!”

Zhuo Huaimo sat up abruptly, turning his head to look at him, but was pulled back down by Qi Yanwang, his tone extremely frank.

“What are you looking at? Brothers sleeping together, it’s normal, right!”

Zhuo Huaimo couldn’t help but snort.

“Qi Yanwang, how old are you? Aren’t you childish?”

“What do you know? Brothers are supposed to sleep together!”

Qi Yanwang said righteously, reaching out to turn off the bedside lamp.

Zhuo Huaimo glanced at him, his voice with a hint of coolness.

“Then have you slept with Che Ye too?”

    “Of course not!”

Qi Yanwang’s tone was firm, turning back to explain, but he didn’t expect to suddenly meet Zhuo Huaimo’s gaze.

So close that he could almost count his eyelashes, even see the shallow reflection in those deep eyes.

    It’s that feeling again!

    I’m going to die!

His heart was like a wild horse, almost bursting through his chest with every powerful beat.

He even had an absurd thought in his head:

If Zhuo Huaimo got any closer, he… definitely wouldn’t push him away.

An ambiguous atmosphere began to spread between the two, their breaths mingling in the air, both real and illusory.

“Qi Yanwang, are you going to sleep or not?” Zhuo Huaimo’s voice was calm, but it pierced through the strange atmosphere.

    “Oh, sleep!”

Qi Yanwang suddenly came back to his senses, a little disappointed but hiding it very quickly, quickly pressing off the bedside lamp, while burying himself in the covers.

The darkness always easily amplifies all of one’s senses infinitely.

Like now, he could clearly feel his chaotic heartbeat, his flushed cheeks, and, the subtle changes in a certain place.

    Damn it!

    “Qi Yanwang!”

Zhuo Huaimo suddenly called out to him, his voice particularly clear in the darkness, even with a touch of bewitchment.

    “Hmm?!”

Qi Yanwang felt his heart stop beating, so nervous that he could barely breathe, afraid that even one more beat would be heard by the other.

“People’s hearts are very complex, especially in this industry,”

Zhuo Huaimo’s tone was light, but with an unprecedented calmness, “You need to be mentally prepared!”

Qi Yanwang was stunned, then said with certainty.

“Don’t worry, I only trust you and Che Ye!”

Even in the dark, Zhuo Huaimo couldn’t help but roll his eyes, what was he expecting? He knew all along that the guy next to him was an idiot!

    “Sleep.”

Zhuo Huaimo finally just said faintly, closing his eyes.

How could Qi Yanwang possibly fall asleep?

He turned over, facing Zhuo Huaimo, secretly gazing at his sleeping face by the faint light from the window.

This guy, he’s quite well-behaved when he’s asleep. Not like usual, when he’s cold and aloof, keeping people at a distance.

Qi Yanwang couldn’t help but reach out, gently tracing Zhuo Huaimo’s eyebrows and eyes.

From the high, straight bridge of his nose to the slightly upturned corners of his lips, his fingertips brushed across, bringing a burst of tingling sensation.

    “Hiss…”

Qi Yanwang gasped, suddenly retracting his hand.

    What was he doing?

But at this moment, Zhuo Huaimo opened his eyes, his gaze clear, without a trace of sleepiness.

“Qi Yanwang, what are you doing?”

His voice was a little hoarse, but even more sexy.

Qi Yanwang flusteredly explained, “I… I was seeing if you were asleep…”

Zhuo Huaimo looked at him with a half-smile, “The way you’re doing this, it’s hard for me to fall asleep.”

Qi Yanwang quickly turned over, facing away from Zhuo Huaimo, his heart beating even faster…

What Qi Yanwang didn’t expect was that Zhuo Huaimo’s words “this industry is very chaotic” would come to pass so quickly, that he would witness it so soon.

That night, he was waiting in the nanny van for a late-night shoot, and a familiar voice came from outside the window.

“President Wang said he wants you to wear that hollowed-out shirt tonight…”

He pulled back the curtains and saw Che Ye being pinned under a street lamp by some capital big shot, his waist being grabbed…
