ATDIWR Chapter 132
by VolareChapter 132: Catching the Alien, I Can Understand What He’s Saying
“Jinsheng, let’s not go over there yet. Let’s hide and see if any companions come to rescue them,” Ji An said.
“Okay.”
Ji An and Gu Jinsheng’s mechs slowly landed several hundred meters away, hiding behind a lush, towering tree. Their front cameras were aimed at the direction where the flying saucer crashed.
Sand and stones flew, and a fierce wind blew. Anyone unaware would think a tornado had struck here. A black hurricane, carrying sand and stones, howled into the distance.
Only when the sandstorm subsided could the scene finally be seen clearly.
The disc was round in shape, very large in size, estimated to be about nine or ten meters in diameter.
Around it was a circle of colorful lights. Now those lights were broken, some bright, some not, sparsely arranged.
The flying saucer remained silent. Gu Jinsheng and Ji An were very patient; even though the flying saucer didn’t move, neither of them went closer to look.
After an unknown amount of time, a pair of hands, as thin as firewood, finally slowly extended from the pit where the flying saucer had crashed.
Those hands were so thin they were skin and bones. The skin clung tightly to the bones, and even through the light screen, the patterns on each bone could be clearly seen.
Immediately after, a head emerged. The cheeks were sunken, devoid of any muscle. A pair of eyes were large and protruding, extremely disproportionate to the other facial features, like copper bells.
A typical alien appearance seen in movies.
The alien crawled out of the pit. With long, bony fingers clutching its chest, it looked very uncomfortable. It stumbled forward, each step very difficult, as if it had suffered severe external injuries.
The alien was not tall; although it was hunched over, it probably wouldn’t exceed one meter even standing straight.
“This alien is underage. Could it be that we’ve caught an alien brat?” Ji An said. “But their appearance is exactly the same as in movies and TV shows.”
“Let’s wait and see,” Gu Jinsheng still wanted to see if any companions would come for backup later.
That small alien stumbled towards the back of a large tree. It seemed to have finally found a place to hide. The small alien relaxed its vigilance, immediately let down its guard, and slumped against the tree.
Gu Jinsheng and Ji An kept waiting. After about ten minutes, no other aliens came, and the small alien seemed to have rested well. It got up, clutching its chest, and continued to walk forward.
“Let’s go over. There shouldn’t be any backup, and even if there is, they won’t arrive anytime soon,” Ji An said.
Gu Jinsheng controlled his mech to fly towards the small alien. The alien was very alert. Hearing the movement, it immediately plunged into the dense forest. However, it was severely injured and not fast. Gu Jinsheng easily caught it by controlling his mech.
“He was caught so easily?” Ji An and Gu Jinsheng both found it a bit unbelievable that they had captured the alien.
“This is too easy, right? He doesn’t even have weapons on him? He didn’t even resist. I thought there would be at least a fierce fight,” Ji An said.
“I thought so too.” Gu Jinsheng captured the alien, tied it with ropes, and threw it inside the mech.
Only then did the two stop their mechs nearby and jump down.
The actual scene was far more shocking than what they saw on the light screen. A large number of trees at the scene had been knocked down.
Ji An stepped forward to inspect. Those trees showed signs of instantaneous high-temperature scorching.
There was a deep pit several tens of meters deep where the flying saucer had crashed. Gu Jinsheng controlled his mech to lift the flying saucer out of the pit and noticed that the soil in the pit had changed color.
The alien escaped in a hurry, and the flying saucer’s door was not closed, left wide open.
Ji An and Gu Jinsheng exchanged glances. “I have robots in my spatial inventory. Let’s send a robot in to take a look.”
This flying saucer was made by aliens. No one knew if there were any traps or defense mechanisms inside, so they dared not enter rashly to investigate.
“Okay.”
Ji An took a robot out of his spatial inventory, connected it to the network, and input commands to the robot before sending it in to search.
Gu Jinsheng and Ji An’s primary objective was not to explore the secrets of the flying saucer; there was no rush for that, and it wasn’t the best time anyway. Their main goal was still to search whether there were other aliens inside the flying saucer.
Ji An gave the robot the command to first detect life signs. As soon as the robot entered the flying saucer, it began automatically searching for life fluctuations inside the flying saucer.
The robot could detect life signs within a hundred meters, and the alien’s flying saucer was only about ten meters in diameter, so it easily found traces of life.
The robot’s eyes lit up with green light and walked towards the direction with life fluctuations.
The robot’s eyes were cameras. Through the cameras, Ji An and Gu Jinsheng could clearly see the situation inside the flying saucer from the outside.
“It really found life fluctuations. There really are other aliens.” This was a bit of an unexpected surprise for Ji An.
“This alien is unkind. There are still companions alive, but he didn’t save his companions and actually escaped by himself.”
Ji An clicked his tongue. “Found them.”
The robot found two aliens in a place similar to a cockpit. The two aliens were not far from each other. One was lying motionless on the ground and should be dead. The other was struggling to crawl forward on the ground.
Seeing the robot, he immediately turned around, trying to hide himself.
It could be seen that he was severely injured, unable even to stand up, and crawled very slowly.
The robot easily caught and tied him up.
“Bring the body of the other alien back too.” Ji An gave the command to the robot, and the robot immediately walked towards the alien’s corpse.
That corpse had completely lost its life signs. No matter how the robot manipulated it, it didn’t react.
The robot carried the two aliens out of the flying saucer. Ji An and Gu Jinsheng approached.
The living alien looked at Ji An and Gu Jinsheng with its hazy gray eyes. Ji An could not discern any emotion from these eyes.
Suddenly, the alien closed its eyes abruptly. The robot’s green eyes went out, and the life sign fluctuation disappeared.
“He’s dead,” Ji An frowned.
“He looked like he was severely injured,” Gu Jinsheng said. “It’s possible that’s why that alien gave up on saving him and escaped first by himself.”
“That’s possible,” Ji An said. “Let’s leave here first, lest if rescue really arrives later, we won’t be able to leave.”
“What about the flying saucer?” Gu Jinsheng asked.
“Tell Kong Zhongcheng and the others to bring a mech team over and take it back.” Since they got it, giving it up was impossible.
Ji An and Gu Jinsheng returned to their mechs and notified Kong Zhongcheng and the others.
Hearing that Ji An and Gu Jinsheng had really caught aliens and even obtained a flying saucer, the command center exploded with excitement.
Kong Zhongcheng and the others rushed over impatiently. They saw the situation from afar.
Upon getting closer and seeing the scene before them, Kong Zhongcheng kept exclaiming ‘Aiya, Aiya’.
“Boss, Dean Ji, where are the aliens? Where are they? Let me see what they look like quickly. I’ve never seen an alien in my life!” Kong Zhongcheng shouted loudly.
Wan Xueying smacked him on the back. “The way you talk, it’s like someone else has seen one. Dean Ji, where are the aliens?”
“They’re on Jinsheng’s mech, tied up. Now is not the time to look closely. Let’s get the flying saucer back first.”
“Okay.”
Kong Zhongcheng and the others transported the flying saucer, while Ji An and Gu Jinsheng flew back to the Scientific Research Institute first.
The Scientific Research Institute had already cleared out an empty room. This laboratory was very special; it had no windows, and the walls of the laboratory were made of special materials, making it difficult for even high-level power users to damage.
The two dead aliens were frozen by researchers and moved into another laboratory. The living alien was kept in the prepared empty room.
Ji An, Gu Jinsheng, and others communicated with the alien through a smart terminal.
“Hello, I am Earthling Ji An. May I ask who you are?” Ji An asked politely in Chinese.
The alien stared at Ji An and the others on the light screen with its large gray eyes, silent.
“Does the alien not understand Chinese?” Kong Zhongcheng looked at the alien excitedly. If Gu Jinsheng hadn’t forbidden it, Kong Zhongcheng would have even wanted to rush in for close physical contact with the alien.
Ji An switched to English and asked the same question again, but the alien still did not answer.
“Uh, I know Russian, how about I give it a try?” A researcher timidly raised his hand.
“Okay, you try it.” Although Ji An didn’t have much hope, he still let the researcher try it. Anyway, there was no other way for the time being; they could only try anything, even if it seemed futile.
The researcher asked in Russian, but the alien still remained silent. Researchers who knew other languages also tried. Eventually, even some less common languages were used, but the alien still didn’t make a sound, just stared at the light screen with its large eyes.
“No matter what language we use to communicate with him, he doesn’t say a word. Could it be that he can’t speak at all, that he’s a mute?” Kong Zhongcheng suspected.
Ji An pondered for a moment, then spoke again, his voice gentle, with a soothing tone. “Don’t be afraid. I have no ill will towards you. I just simply want to know if there’s anything we can do to help you. You can try to communicate with me. Maybe I can even help you fix your flying saucer and help you return to your planet.”
From the moment Ji An began to speak, the alien’s protruding gray eyes had been staring intently at Ji An. Those eyes didn’t blink, staring straight at him, which was quite eerie.
Just when Ji An thought the alien wouldn’t answer, the alien suddenly spoke.
The sound the alien made was very strange, a very sharp tone. It was hard to say what sound it resembled; in any case, it wasn’t human language, nor a sound humans could make.
“What is this awful noise? It’s so harsh,” Kong Zhongcheng exclaimed.
“That’s it. It seems the alien language system is different from ours. They don’t speak Chinese or English, they don’t speak Earth languages at all. They speak alien language. Even if they speak, we won’t understand,” Wan Xueying shrugged.
“Little An? Is something wrong?” Gu Jinsheng noticed Ji An’s strange expression.
Ji An glanced at Gu Jinsheng. “You all go out first. You’re not needed here for now.”
Kong Zhongcheng didn’t want to leave. He hadn’t seen enough of the alien yet. “Just leaving like this? Aren’t we going to try other methods?”
Ji An said, “The language barrier makes it a waste of time to keep talking. If you’re curious about the aliens, go and see the bodies of the two aliens first. I’ll stay here by myself and see if I can teach the alien some Chinese.”
“Okay.” Kong Zhongcheng and the others left, leaving only Ji An and Gu Jinsheng in the room.
Gu Jinsheng asked, “What’s going on?”
Ji An’s expression was very strange. “I can understand what he’s saying.”
