Chapter 125: Negotiation Fails, Utter Madness

At M Base, Charles looked at the base residents parading in the street again and impatiently asked his assistant, “What are those pieces of trash making noise about again? Why is there no end to it every day?”

This was already Charles’s unknown assistant, perhaps even Charles himself couldn’t remember how many assistants had died in his rage.

The assistant looked at Charles timidly, so frightened his voice trembled, “It’s, it’s, that…”

“A stutterer who can’t even speak clearly. If you can’t explain it, I’ll shoot you.” Charles watched the assistant with a cold gaze.

“They are because of the second moon in the sky.” The assistant closed his eyes, bracing himself, and surprisingly blurted it out in one breath.

Mentioning the appearing second moon, Charles’s attitude changed. He slowly sat up straight, expressionless, “What exactly is going on? Explain it in detail!”

“The AI says the second moon is an artificial planet created by Jing Shi Base, mimicking Earth. The environment on it completely simulates Earth and it’s an artificial planet suitable for human survival.”

Each word the assistant spoke, he cautiously glanced at Charles, afraid that a single word would irritate Charles’s unstable nerves, causing him to suddenly fly into a rage, pull out a pistol, and shoot him.

“It is rumored that Jing Shi Base is already prepared and can relocate their base residents to that planet at any time. At that time, they will completely disregard the deaths of creatures on Earth. Our base residents are afraid that Jing Shi Base will not take them when they relocate and will disregard their lives, so they organized this parade. It aims for you, Commander-in-Chief, to step forward and negotiate with Jing Shi Base to bring our base residents when they relocate…”

‘Bang!’ A gunshot rang out, and the assistant fell in response. His eyes were wide open, and his pupils still reflected Charles’s expressionless face. Perhaps until the moment of his death, he didn’t know what had stimulated Charles’s sensitive nerves.

Charles pressed the emergency button to convene a high-level meeting. Soon, all the high-ranking officials of M Base appeared in the conference room.

“How much do you know about that artificial planet of Jing Shi Base?” Charles asked calmly.

But everyone knew that Charles was not as calm as he appeared. The best proof was the assistant’s body that had just been dragged out when they arrived, and the pool of blood in the corner that had not yet been cleaned up.

Everyone exchanged glances, looking at each other. Finally, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief spoke with a forced calm, “According to reliable sources, the rumors on the AI are true. Jing Shi Base has indeed developed a planet suitable for human survival. Perhaps it won’t be long before the residents of Jing Shi Base relocate there.”

“Bring all those researchers in the research institute in here,” Charles turned to his secretary and calmly ordered.

“Yes.” The secretary immediately hurried away to obey the command. He did not dare to delay for a moment and brought the researchers into the conference room.

“Have you created an artificial planet suitable for human survival?” Charles asked directly.

The researchers, thinking of the recent heated discussion on the AI about Jing Shi Base creating an artificial planet, suddenly felt a bad premonition.

At this moment, all the researchers felt a chill seeping into their limbs and bones. It felt like the Grim Reaper was approaching step by step with a scythe, bringing the bone-chillingyinhan – cold unique to the underworld.

The project leader braced himself and said, “An artificial planet is simply not a technology of this era. Jing Shi Base cannot create a planet suitable for human survival. This must be them putting on a show, stirring up people’s hearts. Commander-in-Chief Charles, you must not believe Jing Shi Base, otherwise, you will fall into their trap.”

“Stop the nonsense and answer me, have you created an artificial planet suitable for human survival?” Charles stared intently at the project leader, “You only need to answer Yes or No?”

Just a few short sentences and sweat was pouring down the project leader’s forehead.

    “No…”

Before the project leader could finish the word ‘No’, Charles pulled out a pistol from somewhere. ‘Bang, bang, bang,’ consecutive gunshots rang out, and in the blink of an eye, all the researchers in the conference room fell down.

Charles’s calm facial expression was ripped apart, and he finally revealed afengkuang er zhenging – mad and ferocious look. The madness in his eyes surged like stormy waves.

“Trash, all trash, all of you deserve to die!” Charles roared wildly, like a beast that had lost its zombie-like reason.

The faces of the high-ranking officials in the conference room were filled with terror. Each of them huddled like quails, no one daring to speak up and offer a word ofquanzu – dissuasion.

The researchers’ blood gathered into small rivers in the conference room, and the entire room was filled with a foul smell of blood. But Charles felt that the smell of this blood carried a sweet fragrance, soothing his irritable emotions.

Miraculously, Charles actually calmed down in the smell of blood. He took out his AI and dialed the communication line of Jing Shi Base.

The staff member responsible for answering the dedicated line at Jing Shi Base found that the communication number was Charles’s, and immediately notified Gu Jinsheng. Gu Jinsheng called in the other three Deputy Commanders-in-Chief, and the four of them sat together in the conference room to answer the communication from Charles.

“You created an artificial planet suitable for human survival?” Charles’s eyes were gloomy, and there was still a lingering irritability after his madness.

Gu Jinsheng nodded slightly, not denying it.

Charles sneered, “The residents of M Base also want to relocate.”

Gu Jinsheng did not back down and directly refused, “Absolutely impossible.”

“I advise you to agree, otherwise we will all go to hell together.” Charles stared gloomily at Gu Jinsheng, with no hint of joking in his eyes, “Gu Jinsheng, you know I don’t care about life or death. Don’t you care either? And your little lover, are you willing to let him die before dawn?”

Charles used Ji An to threaten Gu Jinsheng, causing the frost in Gu Jinsheng’s eyes to freeze inch by inch.

“Charles, I advise you to behave, unless you want to die without a burial place.”

Charles burst into laughter as if he had heard some funny joke. His laughter was exaggerated and sharp, with an abnormal tone, harsh and unpleasant.

Charles laughed for a long time and finally stopped, “Alright, then bring it on.”

Charles hung up the communication, his face devoid of any laughter, only gloominess. The staff around Charles were already used to him turning hostile faster than flipping a book.

“Go, drive away those parading people outside!” Charles ordered the Guard Team.

The Guard Team Captain personally organized men to drive away the demonstrators in the street. He knew Charles’s temper well. If these people didn’t know better, they might lose their lives today. With the last shred of conscience left, he tried his best to persuade them.

“Everyone go back. Commander-in-Chief Charles is already communicating with Jing Shi Base. Please believe Commander-in-Chief Charles, he will definitely give you a satisfactory answer.”

Unfortunately, when it concerned their own lives, no one could truly listen to kind persuasion rationally.

“Negotiating, always negotiating, how long will it take? Give us a specific date. Are we supposed to wait until all the residents of Jing Shi Base relocate, and you still can’t negotiate anything!”

“This time we absolutely will not compromise. You must give me a clear explanation!”

“Yes, this time we absolutely will not be fooled so easily. Call Commander-in-Chief Charles out, we want to hear him speak personally. He must give us a satisfactory answer today!”

Later, the parading Power Users became more and more agitated, and even a few minor fights broke out.

Inside, Charles frowned unhappily as he watched the situation on the street through a live broadcast.

“Can’t even handle such a small matter?”

The secretary wiped the sweat from his forehead, “They want to see you, otherwise they won’t leave.”

“See me?” Charles showed a smile with an unclear meaning, “Alright, as long as they don’t regret it.”

On the street, the parading citizens were still shouting loudly, “Call Charles out to see us!!!”

The Guard Team Captain felt that this group of people was truly insane. Charles was a living Grim Reaper. See him? They must have lived long enough.

No one could hear the Guard Team Captain’s internal complaints. Just then, a colleague’s voice came through his earpiece, “Attention, attention, Charles is coming out.”

The captain heard a series of heavy footsteps coming from behind him. Trusting his intuition, he quickly signaled his subordinates to dodge. His subordinates swiftly moved to the sides.

Just as they moved, Charles was surrounded by a group of bodyguards and came out, followed by a burst of strong gunfire.

The air was filled with the smell of gunpowder smoke and blood. Rows upon rows of citizens fell in response. If the Guard Team Captain hadn’t reacted quickly just now, he and his subordinates would have been among those who fell.

The Guard Team Captain could bet that Charles would definitely not kindly remind them to get out of the way; they would all be souls under his gun.

    “Ah!!!”

Screams echoed, and the crowd became chaotic. No one was shouting to see Charles anymore, and no one was demanding an explanation from Charles. Everyone was busy running for their lives, only Charles laughed excitedly.

“Haha, see me! Didn’t you want to see me? Now that you see me, why are you running?” Charles’s eyes were bloodshot, the whites and pupils indistinguishable.

The Guard Team Captain looked at the mountains of corpses and seas of blood that appeared in the blink of an eye, shaking his head, muttering, “He’s gone mad, gone mad!”

At Jing Shi Base, Gu Jinsheng and others were still holding an emergency meeting after Charles hung up the communication.

Zhou Qin said with slight worry, “Boss, Charles is already insane. Now that he knows we have created an artificial planet suitable for human survival but won’t let him relocate, who knows what kind of crazy actions he might take?”

“This cannot be hidden anyway. Two moons have appeared in the sky. Charles isn’t stupid; he’ll know with a little thought,” Kong Zhongcheng said indifferently.

“I’ll ask Ji An and see how much longer it will take before the relocation can begin,” Gu Jinsheng said as he started sending a message to Ji An.

Although the artificial planet has been built, there are still many areas that need further refinement. Even if completed successfully, relocation cannot happen immediately. It is necessary to first introduce Earth organisms into the artificial planet for experiments. Only after these organisms show no signs of mutation will humanity consider relocating.

Ji An and the other researchers were already working fast enough, but they were still in the follow-up refinement stage. A large number of Power Users were purifying the soil and water sources to ensure there were sufficient water sources and clean soil on the artificial planet.

    Relocation could not happen immediately.

After receiving the reply, Gu Jinsheng shook his head, “It still requires time.”

Wan Xueying said heavily, “Charles has gone completely mad. I suspect he might even use nuclear weapons.”

The few people in the conference room immediately looked up at Wan Xueying, “This is something Charles can do. He always likes to do things that harm others without benefiting himself.”

Gu Jinsheng nodded, “I’ll inform Ji An.”

Ji An immediately organized manpower to monitor M Base’s movements at all times and prepare to intercept missiles at any time.
